Armored fighting vehicles designed by or imported into the Japanese Empire from various countries, focused primarily on homeland defense. Japanese tanks will often have either a strength in firepower or armor, and a weakness in the other. Due to these parameters, these tanks are best suited as lightly-armored high-speed spotters, fast-firing brawlers, low-speed heavily-armored medium breakthrough tanks, or all-purpose second-line support tanks.

The Japanese medium line features pretty average tanks that are very versatile and adaptable. The Japanese tanks typically have great gun depression values, and the tier 10 of the line is no disappointment. When it comes to ridge-lines, the STB can hold its own like no other tier 10 can. Another highlight of the line is the Chi Ri at tier 7, which was the first high tier autoloader to be introduced into World of Tanks Blitz.
