Specifically, the mismatch in crew values caused by commander's 10% crew skill bonus. Outside of a crew of 1 commander only, 100% crew is a fiction. The client values, given for 100% crew, will normally be taken into battle with 110% crew skill members aside from specific functions, causing their actual performance to deviate from the expected client value. These differences are taken into account in tooltip boxes.

The AMX Chasseur de chars is a French tier 8 premium medium tank.

In 1946, the AMX company presented this design for a new vehicle. The powerful engine and light weight would have made the vehicle highly mobile, and the 90-mm gun was equipped with a mechanical ammunition system for a high rate of fire. However, the large dimensions of the vehicle, its thin armor, high cost, and the complexity of the design made it unappealing, and the project never advanced to a prototype.

The closest match gameplay-wise for AMX CDC are Japanese medium tanks. Players experienced with Japanese mediums will feel right at home. The key features describing the CDC are the outstanding (almost light tank level) mobility, efficient armament, and last but not least paper-thin armor. And the armor is almost literally paper-thin in this case, not mentioning the unusually large size of the vehicle hull, which is bigger than most heavy tanks of its tier. Most tanks in tiers 9 and 10 will overmatch your 30 mm thick armor plates with ease, which means full damage from incoming High Explosive shells too. No wonder the tank needs an extraordinarily cautious and careful play style in order not to get killed in the very first minutes of the battle. A smart combination of using cover (guerilla peek-a-boo), its outstanding nimbleness and its great gun depression are vital to mastering this fragile but dangerous tank.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Powerful gun: accurate, fast-firing and aiming, high-penetrating, high shell velocity
  • High top speed and amazing acceleration; thanks to the ridiculously powerful engine
  • Great gun depression at 10 degrees; effective on hilly terrain
  • High ammunition count
  • Good credit-making ability for its price

Cons:

  • Non-existent armour
  • Average camouflage values and huge size (especially length) for a medium; even bigger than some heavies in-game
  • Traverse feels a bit sluggish compared to the speed and acceleration of the tank
  • Frequent ammo rack damage, however it rarely explodes when hit
  • No preferential matchmaking

Performance

The CDC, while having good speed, has no armor, which means you MUST use hard cover when shooting. Abusing your 10 degrees of gun depression for cresting in hilly terrain is a good way to provide this cover. Its speed fortunately allows the CDC to get to good sniping spots early on, evolving to flanking in the later stages of the game. Avoid staying out in the open for extended periods of time though - if you're spotted out of cover, you will usually die quickly. The CDC is a good credit farmer, a decent game can make up to 25k - 40k profit.

Historical Accuracy Errata

The following are consensus errors or inconsistencies which have been identified with the configuration of the vehicle in question and conflict with information available on the public record. The causes for these divergences in the game are normally not disclosed and may be rooted in game balance.

- It was originally designed as a tank destroyer, not a medium tank.
