Langley — American Tier IV aircraft сarrier.
The achievements of aircraft carriers in the British Royal Navy significantly affected the navies of other states, including the U.S. Navy. Coal transport Jupiter was converted into an aircraft carrier and named USS Langley. The carrier was used to refine technology and for training naval aviation pilots. The ship was later converted into an aircraft transportation vessel. In this new role, she actively participated in the war in the Pacific, transporting U.S. Air Force aircraft. On February 27, 1942, she was heavily damaged by Japanese aircraft and was later sunk by the ships of her own escort.

Player Opinion
Performance
Pros:
- Has aircraft in large squadrons where most ships of that tier have little or no anti-aircraft capabilities.
- Not easily detected, around 10km detection from the surface if exposed.
- Can one-shot anything it can connect with a good torpedo salvo on a target
- Able to deploy 3 squadrons, one of each type.
- Weird hitbox of the ship may confuse attackers and make them miss their shells through the large gap between the hanger and the deck.
- Once upgraded, it gains some AA that can fend for itself against equivalent tier planes.
Cons:
- Incredibly slow, top speed being around 15 knots, and slows rapidly while turning
- Clumsy compared to other carriers, requiring more space to turn than most battleships.
- Like all low-tier carriers, it is defenseless once it is found.
- Nearly no armor, getting citadeled by most HE shells easily.
Research
- Research the Grumman F3F fighters first for a 27% increase in damage, more speed, and more survivability.
- Research the Vought SBU dive bombers next for a 12 knot increase in speed.
- Research the Martin T4M torpedo bombers for more survivability and a small speed increase.
- Research the B hull.
- Proceed to the Bogue.
Optimal Configuration
Upgrades
As a carrier with only the first two upgrade slots (slots 1 and 4), it's best to mount Air Groups Modification 1 and Damage Control System Modification 1 on Langley.
Commander Skills
Due to Langley being one of the slowest ships in the game at 15kts, it is unable to outrun any ship that may be chasing it - therefore Emergency Takeoff is a better skill than Survivability Expert. Furthermore, due to Hosho having Tier V fighters, Dogfighting Expert is a very good skill to utilize against Hosho.
ATTENTION
- As of Update 0.6.3, this carrier can no longer use manual / Alt function attack.
- Due to dive bombers having over 100% chance of causing fires, Demolition Expert is not a recommended skill.

Consumables
As a carrier at Tier IV, Langley has access to only Damage Control Party.
Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 1 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the chance of being detected.
Signals
As a carrier, Langley can only mount at most four signals at a time and has no risk of detonating. Players should mount Equal Speed Charlie London (for faster XP grinding / increased XP gain per battle), Zulu Hotel (when coupled with Equal Speed Charlie London greatly helps increase commander (re)training), November Echo Setteseven (for better bomber self-defense against fighters and increased AA DPS), and Juliet Whiskey Unaone (to have a better chance at causing flooding and dealing damage via flooding). Players can also choose to equip the Dragon Flag for faster commander (re)training.Gallery
