Special

T-61 — German special premium Tier VI destroyer.

Designed as an average-sized destroyer, her design was officially known as Flottentorpedoboot 1940. This series of ships were built in the Netherlands based on Dutch designs and components. It differed favorably from other same-type German ships by its overall well-balanced combat features.

Player Opinion

Performance

The T-61 is similar to her tech tree counterpart Ernst Gaede. Both ships share the same the same 128mm main batteries and the same torpedoes. They also have access to the Hydroacoustic SearchWhile active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain. consumable, being the only destroyers of their tier to have this consumable. These two factors make both ships very good in close range combat and ambushing enemies in smokescreens. However, the T-61 has main batteries that fire slightly faster than the Ernst Gaede's, giving the firepower edge to the T-61. Unlike the Ernst Gaede though, the T-61 does not get access to the 150mm main battery guns.

Besides main battery performance, the T-61 can also perform the role of torpedo boat superbly. She has a torpedo range of 8.0km and has a surface detectability range of 6.8km without the commander skill Concealment Expert. With the Concealment Expert skill, this detection range goes down to 6.1km, giving her plenty of space to torp enemies from within stealth. This detection range is also lower than the Ernst Gaede's minimum surface detectability range of 6.6km, a significant 0.5km difference in detection. In addition, the T-61 has a very quick torpedo reload time at 68 seconds, over 20 seconds better than the torpedo reload time of the Ernst Gaede.

The T-61 is overall a stealthier, more torpedo-centric version of the Ernst Gaede. Although her main battery rate of fire is faster, the T-61 lacks access to the 150mm guns that the Ernst Gaede can use to punish enemies with high damage shots.

Pros:

  • Great survivability - second largest health pool out of all Tier VI destroyers
  • Decent main batteries - fast rate of fire and decent turret traverse with decent firing range
  • Good torpedoes - good maximum damage per torpedo, fast torpedoes, good range and good reload time
  • Good concealment - on par with its Tier VI IJN (Fubuki) and VMF (Gnevny) counterparts

Cons:

    Research

As a premium ship, T-61 doesn't have any upgrades to research.

    Optimal Configuration

    Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for T-61 are as follows:

    Commander Skills

Key skills for T-61 commanders include a core destroyer build of Priority Target at Level 1, Last Stand at Level 2, Superintendent at Level 3, and Concealment Expert at Level 4. Many other useful skills such as Basic Firing Training, Adrenaline Rush, Torpedo Armament Expertise, and Expert Marksmen, highlight the versatile selection of skills the ship can take strengthening its guns, torpedoes, or team versatility.

    Consumables

T-61 can equip the following consumables:

Premium version of all consumables are useful to reduce the cooldowns.

    Camouflage

As a premium ship, T-61 comes included with Type 10 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, and increases the amount of experience she earns.

    Signals

The T-61, as a normal premium destroyer, should take the standard flags for improving its offensive and defensive performance in battle. For offensive flags, these include India X-Ray (+1% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber above 160mm. / +0.5% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber below 160mm. / +5% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonating.) and Victor Lima (+1% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber above 160mm / +0.5% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber below 160mm. / +4% chance of causing flooding.) to improve the fire chance, and Juliet Whiskey Unaone (+15% chance of causing flooding. / +5% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonating.) to improve chance of flooding. For defensive and utility flags, November Foxtrot (-5% reload time on all consumables.) and Sierra Mike (+5% to the ship's maximum speed.) are the primary choices to reduce consumable cool-downs and increase the top speed, respectively. If excessive fire damage and detonations are of concern, the flags India Yankee (-20% to fire duration.) and Juliet Charlie (-100% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonating.) can be used to reduce time spent on fire and remove the chance of detonating entirely.

As T-61 is a premium ship, the economic and special signal flags can be mounted to further boost the economic and experience gains of the ship.

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
