The 59-16 is a Chinese tier 6 light tank.
In 1957 a new light tank project was initiated by the Chinese government. Development of vehicle was completed in 1959. The new tank, weighing 16 tons, was equipped with a four-wheel torsion-bar suspension and a rear placement of the drive wheel, and mounted a 57-mm gun (later upgraded to 76-mm).
This tank weighs very little, and has weak armor to match, although its front is angled. Unfortunately, both its stock view range and speed are subpar for a light tank. This tank can mount an autoloader, although it has low penetration in exchange for more damage.
The 59-16 leads to the WZ-131.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Autoloader
- Low profile
- Agile
- Has an autoloaded cannon but can still equip a gun rammer
Cons:
- Speed, while decent, is still slow for a light tank
- Very thin armour
- View range is poor, making scouting difficult
- Very low penetration on tier 6 autoloader (85 pen)
- Low module HP means that high-damage shells might damage/destroy several modules at once, which results in a high risk of amm
Performance
The 59-16 is a weird light tank for those of you who have played other light tanks of the same tier of different nations. It's profile is slightly higher and bigger than other light tanks. And it's mobility is somewhat hampered by it's speed. The speed is decent but i can be lost quickly. This tank is more suited for peek and retreat tactics or passive scouting. What makes this tank weird compared to other light tanks of the same tier is that its two tier 6 guns, including its top tier autoloader, have horrible penitration at only 85 pen while the tier 5 stock gun has 112 penetration. Using the autoloader, you are limited very little chances of actual damage, but the high camo rating combined with some scouting experience allows for good spotting damage. It is the best of choices if you want to do actual damage is to keep the tier 5 gun on the tank. Use the 59-16 as a scout or for passive scouting.
Early Research
For the tank, you should research the suspension first of all. After that, go for the turret, then the radio for scouting. The guns should be your last concern for this tank. You may want to get the autoloader, seeing how well autoloader tanks of the french line do, but the 76mm autoloader on ther 59-16 has some of the lowest pen (85 pen) in the game for a tier 6 of any type. Before getting to the WZ-13, I recommend research the Type-58 for the 85mm guns, seeing as it would be hard to pen anything in tier 8-10 games with only 85 pen on the tier 6 autoloader.
