Specifically, the mismatch in crew values caused by commander's 10% crew skill bonus. Outside of a crew of 1 commander only, 100% crew is a fiction. The client values, given for 100% crew, will normally be taken into battle with 110% crew skill members aside from specific functions, causing their actual performance to deviate from the expected client value. These differences are taken into account in tooltip boxes.

The B.U.G.I. is a Polish tier 6 medium tank.

The B.U.G.I. uses the first letters of the last names of the engineers who developed this project (Bujnowicz, Ulrych, Grabski, and Iwanicki). The engineers took the concept of the KSUS II medium tank but adjusted the new vehicle to feature a one-turret design. The project was sent for consideration during the Grudziądz conference in 1938–1939. The project was finalized in May 1939 in the Armed Forces Training Center in Modlin. In mid-August 1939, the engineering group presented the vehicle concept and blueprints. However, further development was discontinued due to World War II.

The B.U.G.I. leads to the CS-44.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Generally adequate stock grind due to acceptable starting gun and engine
  • Reasonable 55kph forward speed, good 17.7 hp/t ratio
  • All guns are usable: 75mm for accuracy & ROF, 90mm for penetration & shell velocity, 100mm for alpha damage & HE
  • Rounded armor causes some normal weakspots to instead be unexpected ricochets (turret roof, turret collar)
  • Usable gun depression and elevation angles, modestly flexible (-8, +20)

Cons:

  • Horrid ground resistance, closer to heavy tanks--bogs down easily
  • Reverse speed is terrible, harder to fight from cover
  • Weak modules, expect to lose engine or ammo rack often
  • Worst radios in class/tier, not a useful scout
  • Armor is generally unreliable, weakspots in cupola, lower glacis, turret face and cheeks

Performance

The BUGI is the second Tier 6 Polish medium tank in its tech tree, and leads directly to the medium line as opposed to the heavy line. It embodies some of the significant and desirable medium qualities. It is reasonably mobile with usable guns and armor that can let it get away with attacking enemies who are lower tier or not ready for the BUGI's appearance.

The cornerstones of the BUGI's performance are its trio of generally viable guns, each providing different strengths. The 75mm gun has decent accuracy and rate of fire, making it a decent gun for support or circling lone enemies while hitting them repeatedly. The 90mm cannon is fairly well balanced for this tier, dealing a respectably large amount of damage with good penetration and ammo stocks, lacking primarily in rate of fire and general gun-handling. The most popular option for players will likely be the 100mm howitzer, thanks to its combination of high damage, slightly better accuracy compared to other howitzers, and relative ease of use.

This power does not come without some noticeable downsides. It is an inherently fragile tank despite its rounded armor, with the thickest realistically usable armor being 85mm on the turret face (the 100mm armor is a narrow strip under the gun and cheeks). It also has a glaring weakness in the form of its mobility being less than what is presented on its profile. While it does boast a good acceleration and top speed, it has a tendency to get caught up on even mildly soft terrain and lose a lot of that speed and most of its turning ability. This is not helped by a dirt-slow reverse speed that makes it hard to retreat if overexposed, or weak modules that break easily, particularly the engine. Lastly, the low-powered radio makes it a poor spotter, so there is no point in staying far away from action.

Due to the mixture of upsides and downsides that come together with each gun, driving the BUGI will demand different types of expertise depending on the play style, all of which will require some foresight and patience.

75mm gun: Remain in the second line and behave like an American medium tank. Your gun is easy to handle and fires relatively quickly, and you have just enough gun depression to peek up over small hills while only showing the well rounded armor of your turret and turret collar. When you see an undefended opening on the map, advance using your speed and acceleration, but don't get bogged down.

90mm gun: Get closer and hit enemies with support from just behind heavies or bigger mediums. The 90mm is somewhat less accurate than the 75mm, and it takes longer to aim, but you will find you have a better chance of punching through armor than the various 75mm to 88mm guns at this tier. Remember that you are much better at advancing than falling back, so advance carefully.

100mm gun: Ambush enemies in cities or canyons and fire into the sides and rears of enemies to deal heavy damage. Always have an escape route that doesn't necessarily involve backing away, as you will get noticed after you fire. This gun has premium AP, allowing it to deal 300 damage with 168mm of penetration, offset by with its severe inaccuracy. Use it at close range for flanking shots.

The BUGI can be a powerful and enjoyable Tier 6 tank that rewards careful and strategic play while still being immense fun to drive. While its chunky, somewhat graceless nature might turn away those who prioritize agility in their medium tanks, this "medvy" can still acquit itself well and contribute its considerable weight to any battle.

Early Research

  • Stock, the BUGI is adequate but unexceptional. Install the upgraded radio you likely got from either of the tier 5 tanks, the 25TP KSUST II or the DS PZlnz.
  • If you have the the 90mm gun unlocked from the 40TP Habicha, it is worth installing. If not, unlock it, then unlock the upgraded turret.
  • The tank may start feeling sluggish, so research the engine next.
  • You will start running low on weight capacity, so research the tracks.
  • Finally research the 100mm gun if you enjoy howitzers.
