Revision as of 20:30, 3 June 2015 engine fires on LFP hits were remove quite an age ago, if engine damage happens there, it should have same fire chance. E100 has still over 100mm more effective front armor | Revision as of 17:07, 31 August 2015 | |||

This is one of the most well-adapted tanks for the [[Tactics#Other Tactics|"Sidescrape"]] position due to the rear mounted turret. This is especially good since the rear-mounted turret makes it less suitable for "peek and shoot" city tactics. | This is one of the most well-adapted tanks for the [[Tactics#Other Tactics|"Sidescrape"]] position due to the rear mounted turret. The <value_unset_error> is a [[|]] tier .
<value_unset_error>
It has a thicker frontal armour than its brother, the E-75. It carries the same gun ordnance, but the VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B has a slightly better gun reload and handling accuracy (but worse gun depression) thanks to its turret stats. The transmission is located in the middle, which prevents fires from frontal hits, but there is a driver port (albeit small) on the front, and thinner sides. Thus, angling the tank is an absolute must in order to survive.
When first acquired, it comes with an insufficient gun, and will only begin to show its powerhouse when equipped with the L/68 105mm Gun, and will change the balance of battles once equipped with the powerful 128mm L/55 gun
Due to the rear-mounted turret, this tank may seem harder to play and more unwieldy than the previous VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A. It's certainly slower than a fully upgraded E-75, mostly due an overwhelmed 875 hp engine, but give it time and get used to its unique playing style and you could easily find yourself playing a part in tipping the battle in your team's favor.
As of update 0.9.2, this tank received a significant buff. Both upper and lower frontal plating were buffed to 200mm of thickness, giving an effective armour of over 300mm on both plates. The upper plating has a few weakspots but they are tough to pin-point and still not too weak. The top of turret weakspot has also been buffed from a mere 40mm to 60mm, increasing effective armour greatly. After this update, this tank can no longer be considered in the shadow of the E-75, as an E-75 will now struggle immensely to penetrate your VK while you can punch holes into his under plating.
The <value_unset_error> marks the end of its line.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Very strong frontal hull armor, capable of withstanding even a good amount of gold shells.
- High hit point pool
Cons:
- Bad mobility
- Poor gun depression
- Top gun has rather bad accuracy, long aiming time and slow reload
- Large profile makes an easy target for artillery
- Weak side armor
Performance
In update 0.9.2 VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B received some serious buffs to its front armor, and you may lead a charge into battle with confidence. Its rear-mounted turret makes it so you have to fully reveal yourself from cover to fire if you adopt traditional tactics. Luckily frontal plating is strong enough to shrug off most guns with ease. The armor is nicely sloped, allowing it to bounce a high percentage of shells. A tier 9 game in Himmelsdorf is heaven, you are nearly indestructible and can live the joys of what the predecessor of the Maus should have always been. Watch E-75s perish as you dominate the battle field. You are the steel of tier 9, and now a dominant heavy tank.
The Ausf B. is slow and clumsy. To make best use of your front armor you need to keep all enemies on front of you. Open maps are bane of this tank. You can get easily flanked and your top gun has usually too bad accuracy for sniping and mobility too bad to close distance.
Frontal armor has some weaknesses, like the driver view port, but only very accurate shots may hit it. Unfortunately guns with over 300mm penetration will usually cut right though your front plate. This means some HEAT shells or tier 9/10 TDs, especially with gold ammo.
In some cases, the learning curve can become fairly expensive and you may suffer heavy financial hits until you've grown (or groaned) accustomed to this heavy tank. Don't give up. It's well worth the pain. If mastered, the Ausf B. can be a rewarding tank to play and is great preparation for the playing style of the Maus.
This is one of the most well-adapted tanks for the "Sidescrape" position due to the rear mounted turret. This is especially good since the rear-mounted turret makes it less suitable for "peek and shoot" city tactics.
Early Research
- You should have researched the engines, gun and radio from the previous VK, so equip them first
- The stock turret is strong enough to hold up on its own,so its important to upgrade the guns as it will give you the ability to hit targets reliably, should you have not researched the 105mm L/68 from the Tiger II, your first priority is to acquire that gun.
- Research the suspension, or use a suspension module
- Research and equip the Turret
- Get the 128mm Gun
- Go from there

Historical Accuracy Errata
One of the VK 45.02 (P)'s historical armaments, the 8,8 cm Flak 41 L/74 (the Pz.Sfl. IVc's top gun), is missing.
- There are no historical records indicating that either of the 10,5 cm Kw.K. guns or 12,8 cm Kw.K. 44 L/55 were to have ever been fitted to the VK 45.02 (P) projects.
- Hull armor is actually much thinner, measuring only 80 mm thick on all sides (currently 200/100/100).
- The VK 45.02 (P)'s stock turret is basically the same Porsche turret from the Tiger II. Its armor values are 220/150/150 instead of 100/80/80.
- The VK 45.02 (P)'s top turret is basically the same Henschel turret from the Tiger II. Its armor values are 252/160/160 instead of 185/80/80. The Henschel turret was never designed for this tank.
