Tanks of France
In France, between 1930 and 1933 is defined the different classes of armored combat which will remain valid until the armistice of June 22, 1940. During all this period, it is necessary to differentiate the Infantry (also called 1st direction), the Cavalry (2nd direction) and the Artillery being the 3rd direction.
Regarding the infantry, we differentiate 3 classes of armored fighting:
- The "char lourd" (heavy tank)", renamed "char d'attaque des fortifications"(fortification attack tank) in September 1939 and "char de forteresse"(fortress tank) in December 1939.
the weight is about more than 45 tons. It includes the tanks FCM 2-C and their direct evolutions with the FCM F1 and its competitors.
- The "char de bataille" (battle tank), which is equivalent to a medium tank and whose weight varies between 20 tons and 45 tons.
It includes the B1 tanks, the D2 tank and tanks of the G1 program.
- The "char léger (light tank), renamed "char d'accompagnement de l'infanterie" (infantry accompanying tank) in December 1939.
the weight is about less than 20 tons. It includes tanks H35/38/39, R35/40, FCM 36 and AMX 38.
Concerning the Cavalry, we differentiate 3 classes of armored fighting of which 2 are tracked:
- The "Auto-Mitrailleuse de Combat"(Driving Machine Gun of fight),
which is equivalent to a medium tank and whose weight is about 15 tons. It includes the AMC 35 Renault ACG and Somua S35 / 40.
- The "Auto-Mitrailleuse de Reconnaissance"(Driving Machine Gun of Reconnaissance),
which equates to a light tank (or even a "tankette") whose weight is about less than 15 tons. It includes the AMR 33 Renault VM and AMR 35 Renault ZT but also the Hotchkiss H39 loaned by the Infantry.
this classification will remain valid for the development of the French tanks until the armistice of June 22, 1940. any tank developed after this date is not part of this classification

- Bat-Chat 12t fake tank in game, the Bat-cat 12t in game is based on the Bat-Chat anti-aircraft tank 12t,an anti-aircraft tank without oscillating turret and equipped with 4 automatic 30 mm cannons. the real Bat-cat 12t is a light tank that was in conccurence with the AMX-12t and was refused in favor of the latter, moreover it was conceived at a time when the oscillating automatic turret loader was not yet in development the Bat-Chat 12t therefore does not have an automatic charger (the first prototypes built AMX-12t did not have an automatic charger)
- EBR 105 Fake tank invented by wargaming
it is an EBR chassis with a turret of ERC-90 F4 Sagaie and the 105 mm D.1504 of the AMX-13 105, It is physically impossible for this tank to exist,
1-the turret. the turret of the ERC-90 F4 is designed to use a 90 mm gun without automatic magazine, it is not big enough to mount a 105 mm automatic magazine
2-the recoil. the EBR has the AMX-13 turret with 75 or 90 mm gun at a limited firing arc forward because if it fires on its sides, the recoil can overturn it, so the EBR Chassis can not take the 105 mm firing, the AMC-10 RC has been specially designed for this,
3-The Gun. The 105mm D.1504 is a version with a muzzle brake of the AMX-30's CN-105 F1 gun and can not use AP or APFSDS shells because the tank used by this gun can not cash the shooting recoil of these types of ammunition, it is a very good canon for the late 50s, when it was put into service but completely obsolete in the dates of creation of the EBR 105 (The ERC-90 F4 Sagaie turret was designed in the 70s), at that time the AMX-10RC 105mm F2 BK MECA L/48 gun was much more powerful and less restrictive, and this gun is a modernized version, on average pression and lightened of the CN-105 F1 of the AMX-30 and running on the same principle which made the success of the 105 mm D.1504
4-The Motor. The EBR is an extremely narrow tank, so much so that the maximum height of the EBR crew was 1.65m and the pilot had to dismount the steering wheel if he wanted to enter or leave the tank, he is unable to use a bigger engine than the Panhard 200 hp flat-cylinder 12-cylinder engine specially designed for the EBR, because it does not have room for a more powerful engine

Fake Tanks
- Tas Rohamlöveg by Pál Korbuly, Jarosław Janas and Á. Bíró - There is no direct evidence of the project. The assumption was made by the son (Pál Korbuly) of the lead developer (János Korbuly) for of the manufacturer (Weiss Manfréd) in the late 80's. The base of the theory was the 2 prototype suspensions of the Tas, jumping to the conclusion that the second one was for a TD. This was later debunked, as army officials actually ordered two full prototypes of the Tas.
