Hi there! Please leave your message after the beep, I'll get back to you as soon as I can if your message sounds important to me! Haswell:na (talk) 07:54, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

NEW: TODO List

If you wish something to be done, please put down a request on my TODO list. This will be the fastest way for me to identify what needs to be completed, be it simple error fixes or major overhauls. --Haswell:na (talk) 14:17, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Player Opinion for Pz 38t on Blitz

Pros and Cons

Pros

- Tremendous top gun in all respects (alpha, RoF, dispersion, aim time, etc)

- Incredible APCR penetration to overmatch even heavily armored Tier IV opponents

- Excellent gun depression (-10) to take advantage of hills

- Compact with good camo values

Cons

- No armor to speak of

- Sluggish with low top speed and poor traverse

- Low ammo capacity

Performance

The Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) can be difficult to manage for the inexperienced player as it performs best as an opportunist tank. The interesting combination of no armor, mediocre maneuverability and excellent gun means you should never be on the front lines, despite the designation as a "Light Tank." Keep at the second level behind other tanks at the front, or perhaps even further back and allow the gun to do the work. Do not be the first tank spotted, as this is recipe for disaster in a tier III tank with no armor. If you see enemies targeting you, relocate or back behind cover until the enemy forgets about you. Do not stare down tanks with Howitzer style guns firing HE as their main ammo type. These guns will over-match your thin armor and do full HE damage.

Though the Pz.Kpfw. 38 (t) has no armor to speak of, the turret is an extremely small target, and the tank has excellent gun depression. As such hull down type tactics are possible. This is best employed at medium to long range with frequent peeking up over a ridge either frontally or at a slight angle. Be cautious to not drive up and expose your hull, increasing your profile and the chance for the enemy to hit you. -10 Degrees of gun depression will allow you significant flexibility as to where you choose to go on the battlefield, so make sure to fight around hills when possible.

Research Path

- First priority is the 4.7cm Kw.K. (t) L/43 top gun (will need turret first).

- Research Praga EPA/2 Engine (middle one) because it's cheap.

- Next upgrade tracks to mitigate the miserable ground resistance and increase accuracy on move.

- Finally top engine for horsepower boost.

Historical Info/Gallery

Same as in PC, so a simple copy/paste would suffice

AwfulPanther

Hi! Just asking, why did you delete the Afwulpanther's wiki entry, when it is still visible on many players records ingame and people might need info on it (It was removed etc.)? I have no idea how to undo the delete on this wiki since this is my first entry. But anyway, wiki is supposed to be a source of info even on tanks that are not currently ingame. You deleted the page on 20th of july. (And yup, did not read about the TODO list before putting stuff here, hopefully this reaches you.) ad_hoc:eu (talk)

The database entry for the Auf Panther is currently hidden from public view as a result of its removal from the game. This decision is made by WG. While the tank itself isn't purged completely from the game client, the page for the tank will be hopelessly broken anyway because it could no longer access the database entry, so I opted to remove the page entirely as a maintenance routine. This is an unfortunate but necessary compromise, if WG decides to restore the tank's database entry I would gladly restore the page. For now I could only apologize for having a less than satisfactory system. --Haswell:na (talk) 03:52, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

Adding Ship Info

Hey Haswell, you might recognize me from attempting to help out with keeping the wiki up to date up until 4.0 and some others stuff. anyway my question is I would still enjoy being helpful by adding current data to the existing ships that still have some blank spots. Most notably the Ship Stats under the profile picture (armor, guns, engine, etc.) although due to my inexperience with editing wiki, I was wondering if you could tell or teach me how to plug data in so I could possibly help with the load with you guys managing this. If not I understand but I just like to be helpful. Right now im happy in just plugging info in under the stat section for now but happy to do more if you guys want me to. Hope to hear from you. --Scinfaxi:na (talk) 21:13, 30 June 2015 (UTC)

Hey Scinfaxi, of course I remember you! As you can see right now, the sidebar for ships pages only display armor, hit points and cost, I'm planning on adding the other data lines later this week.

The way the template works is by using extensions connected to the WG database and API, data can be returned upon request as long as there is proper input. Feel free to take a look at the templates here and here to get a grasp on what is going on right now, you will note that the data doesn't need to be manually entered for each ship at all, everything is automated. The two templates right now are protected, but you can try copying the two template codes to new pages for experimentation of your own.

One great help you can do for me right now is to go back to the ships pages and check if the entered templates are correct. Some of the pages lack the in-game research and opinion sections as they were created before the template was revised, so this is an issue that would need fixing sooner or later. One relatively quick way to identify which pages were created prior to the big revamp is to check the [of renamed pages performed on June 26 here], but beyond that you'd have to manually go into each page and check the code for the template.

Another issue unrelated to ships that needs fixing is filling out new vehicle pages. Since the wiki staff are never informed of any new addition of vehicles in any of the game titles, pages need to be monitored manually to identify which of them are newly added and lack the vehicle templates. I've created a master vehicle list just for this purpose, so I can quickly check which pages need to be initialized with the corresponding template. You can find the templates on my user page, it would be a big help to me if you can help fill out the uncreated pages.

I'm also now granting you contributor group rights, this should allow you to move and reupload files and pages along with other new options, they should make it easier to edit and update content.

Feel free contact me again if you have any concerns or questions.

--Haswell:na (talk) 02:49, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

Sure i'd be happy to help out. Perhaps you could purposely give me a ship page to edit for me to practice on. Just tell step by step how to do it and I will for any future pages that need it. Also on our master vehicle list, the Warplanes section has the WoT vehicles instead, just a heads up.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 23:55, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

This is the template for ships. It's divided up into the description, player opinions, historical and reference sections. Take the Cleveland page for example, the lines for performance and research are missing because the page was created before the template was updated. There are other ship pages with this issue as well, so you'd have to go through them and see which ones have incomplete templates. Adding the lines back in should be straightforward. --Haswell:na (talk) 03:42, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Ok, i'll try to update the Cleveland page then. check it out and see if it looks right, I put In the template you gave. I Also updated every single ship page with an outdated template (mainly just adding the research and performance parts. But I managed to go through every single ship and add missing template info and even adding some wiki info to the historical sections.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 20:40, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
If theres anything else I can do, just ask.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 17:36, 14 July 2015 (UTC)

So far, nothing aside from daily patrols and the ships template that I keep putting aside due to laziness :P. The WG wiki doesn't really attract much traffic. --Haswell:na (talk) 12:30, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

Ok, well keep me informed on anything I can do here or on any of the other wiki pages too. Just message me here if theres something I can do. On that note, do oyu have the two new premium tanks for WoT PC done then?--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 22:29, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

New prem tanks? I know there's the Japanese Tiger, then there's the spacepanzer 1c replacing the awfulpanther, anything I missed?
Speaking of work, there were 2 and half nutjobs running around and making a mess earlier, you should be able to find that in the recent changes. It will be great if you can double check if anything got overlooked. Other than that, the normal routine of periodic patrols should pretty much cover the majority of maintenance work on the wiki. That's what I do most of the time anyways. --Haswell:na (talk) 15:31, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

My bad, I didn't mean 2 premium tanks, but yea those were the two. Just curious, how far in advance are you able to know the new vehicles being deployed into a game? Also, I checked every warships and couldn't find any tampering with info, all looks clean. Lastly, I was curious if I could add certain ship data about ships that replaced ones in the Alpha or CBT, for example, saying how the Hashidate replaced the Katori; or how the Independence was moved to tier 6 and replaced the Saipan, etc...--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 00:11, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

It depends on the circumstances surrounding the vehicles. Sometimes they can be found in the game client itself complete with stats and models (eg. French Sherman, Chinese Patton/Type 59 hybrid thing, autoloading IS-3), other times in the wiki database. The Japanese Tiger in this case was included in the client files since 9.8.
As long as the stuff with ships doesn't break the NDA it's fine by me. AFAIK the NDA lift back then also allowed stuff from Alpha to be disclosed, so it shouldn't be a problem. You would probably know more about this than I do, I'm just the librarian.
Note to myself: add line breaks after signature to lessen eyesores. I also have a habit of not closing HTML tags. Oh well. --Haswell:na (talk) 11:33, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

I see, does it help to get a heads up of vehicles that "might" be upcoming in future updates? Or is it better to wait until official announcement on the websites? Like I know a few videos and sources who say they know what vehicles are coming in future updates.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 23:50, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Usually no, a heads up might remind me "hey, there's a so and so tank that will pop up on the wiki soon, keep an eye out", but that's about the extent of the notification. My general procedure would be something like checking if the vehicle is available ingame, check if the page is made visible on the wiki, then build the wiki page with the template before someone else decides to create it with random comments like "this is a new tank, it has a big gun". Unofficial sources aren't really that useful since the vehicles are either found in the client files, or they aren't. Things like the upcoming Japanese heavy tank line is basically forgettable until it's actually in the game. --Haswell:na (talk) 08:20, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Hey just a heads up, the Tier 2 US Cruiser Albany has been re-added to the game. On a side note, I've been trying to add historical images to some ships and only managed to put them on the Iowa and Montana Battleships but unable to for any others. Is there a trick on how to use certain images? Im pulling the links straight from the official Wikipedia source too.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 04:29, 1 August 2015 (UTC)

See the new Games-con Feature test trailer of things to come to Tanks? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayurWbwCi1w --Scinfaxi:na (talk) 21:10, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Nope, that's all new to me. Not really interested TBH, they will come when they come. I learned a long time ago to not hold my breath for anything.
What did you mean by certain images? Are you reuploading them here, or just directly linking them from Wikipedia? The former will (should) always work, the latter will be displayed as an external link because the wiki doesn't allow external images. --Haswell:na (talk) 06:10, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Im trying to upload images into the Historical Image section. What im doing is going to a Ships real Wikipedia page on Wikipedia.com. I'll find an image and click on it then click more details. Theres a link that says "Use this file on a wiki (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Uss_new_mexico_bb.jpg). I click it and it gives me two links to use. I copy and paste the link into the historical image section of the Warships wiki. The Montana and Iowa Battleships worked but not other ship has. SO whats the easiest way to upload an image from Wikipedia to here.
Also I read some more news on the World of Tanks sites (PC and Xbox). Both PC an Xbox will have a new nation soon; Czechoslovakia with a branch of medium tanks. PC will get this nation on update 9.12 and TBA for Xbox. Also Xbox will also be getting the Japanese Heavy tanks soon too.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 20:12, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

Easiest way to use images is to just reupload the file in question to this wiki, there should be an option to upload from URL (sideloading) to make life easier.
I heard about the Czech and Japanese tanks, they will be added to the wiki when they actually arrive. --Haswell:na (talk) 20:39, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

well the url didn't work either for the images. everytime I put a link into the Historical Gallery section, I only get text but no image. on another note, I noticed when clicking on a nation or vehicle class tab, he resulting page of vehicles don't always show every vehicle, primarily premiums or gift ships. For example, when clicking the cruisers or USA ships tab, the tier 2 Albany doesn't show. Only when you open the ships list at the bottom of a similar ship's page. I also noticed this on World of Tanks as well. Is there a reason some vehicles aren't shown in the main vehicle pages?--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 21:46, 11 August 2015 (UTC)

1. Get to the image you want (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Uss_new_mexico_bb.jpg)
2. Find the actual path of the file (in this case it's https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6f/Uss_new_mexico_bb.jpg)
3. Upload the file using the full path (https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/File:Uss_new_mexico_bb.jpg)
4. Insert the file onto the target page (https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:PASB034_New_Mexico_1941)

I'm not seeing the Albany or any premium ships missing from the nation or class pages. As far as I'm aware, the only place with "missing" ships should be the footer on premium ship pages, because WG in their infinite wisdom decided not to classify "special" ships as premium. --Haswell:na (talk) 05:04, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Ok so I cant just insert the File:Uss new mexico bb.jpg|Uss new mexico bb-link then? I think I got it. I practice on the New York Class battleship and added a couple photos from the Wikipedia source. I think its right. Also Im seeing the Albany too now. I think if your not logged in, you don't see certain ships perhaps? Also, is there any plans to put into the template a In-game Gallery option? I have a few screenshots of the Starships variants I would like to add once the in-game gallery is in.--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 20:22, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Not sure on the Albany issue, I can still see it while on a different machine, not signed in. I'll see about adding the gallery next week since I'll be out of town this weekend. --Haswell:na (talk) 19:07, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

Update: got a TODO list up and running, you can now use that to put in requests for getting things done. Much easier for me to keep track of things that way, don't know why I didn't make that sooner. --Haswell:na (talk) 14:42, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Game Mechanics

Hi, added some game mechanics stuff. Mostly dispersion for now; I'll add AP/HE information later on.

I've never done wiki editing before, so this is all new to me. How do I insert images into the article (for now I left imgur links)? Do I have to provide the copyright for all the images? Should I register somehow?

You can upload images to the wiki directly and display them using the wiki syntax. More info can be found here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images
If the images you are using are copyrighted material, then you should follow whatever limitations the image may carry. Other than that, listing sources when using third party media is always a good practice. --Haswell:na (talk) 05:52, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Ok, finished the dispersion section, will move on to the shell type section soon. Another request: there should probably be multiple battle-mechanics pages. This is a list they have at the Russian wiki, which makes sense to me:

  • Matchmaker (can provide a cross-table of matchmaking by tier, which is at the Russian forum)
  • Main Caliber (or perhaps "Artillery") -- the article I'm working on now. Would it make sense to separate fire mechanics into its own article? If so, anti-air would deserve its own article as well
  • Spotting -- spotting mechanics, spotting ranges, camo, smoke, etc.
  • Torpedoes -- including reaction time table that's been floating around
  • Airplanes (CV/spotters) -- anti-air mechanics would go in here as well, unless it's a separate article.

I'll see about splitting up the sections later this weekend, just put everything onto one page for now, with separate sections if needed. On a side note, it's a good habit to always sign your messages on talk pages. --Haswell:na (talk) 16:20, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. The mini-icons for these pages can be swapped from here (look at the bottom): https://wiki.wargaming.net/ru/Navy:World_of_Warships As for the signature, hm, let's try: --vakhnenko:na (talk) 16:57, 31 July 2015 (UTC)
There, new pages are set up. I'll leave it up to you to move the info around, let me know if you want more pages. --Haswell:na (talk) 10:17, 2 August 2015 (UTC)
Cool, thanks. I've moved almost everything to the gunnery&armor penetration, and will start work on other pages. By the way -- why does the gunnery&armor penetration page link show up as red "not existing" page from the main menu? Should I do something to change that? vakhnenko:na (talk) 4:13, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
That happens when the wiki server doesn't update its cache fast enough, a fairly common and annoying problem around here. Look to the left sidebar, use the purge button under the navigation tab. It should refresh the immediate page entirely and usually fixes the problem. --Haswell:na (talk) 18:26, 3 August 2015 (UTC)

Missing Ships

I just wanted to bring this up again since it seems to be a re-occurring thing with me. I dont know f its just me or others but usually certain ships are hidden from me to view. Some examples are the Mikasa Battleship for me only shows up when I click on the Japanese nation link. If I click he battleship link, I cannot see it. Also the recently added Marblehead cruiser didn't show up at all until I signed in. Eve after logging in the Marble head only shows up when I click on the USA link and not the cruiser link. Not sure if this is just a glitch with my system or something with the wiki, but I figured to just bring it up incase it can be fixed.

On side note, when typing Battleship in the search bar, the resulting page brings up the 2 old versions of the battleships page before the CBT started. Not sure if this is the only page with old info still--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 14:21, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

The Mikasa is currently marked hidden in the wiki database. I don't know when it was added, but it's there apparently. This is also related to the Marblehead and other "glitched" pages, which happens when the server cache isn't updated. To rectify these problems just use the purge page button on the left sidebar under Navigation, almost all problems can be solved this way as long as there isn't a bigger underlying issue.

Both of the battleships pages are relics from the past. The English version I didn't delete back during the restructuring in case there are interesting content to be copied over, the Korean one simply because I don't read/write Korean and I have no idea what WG is doing with the localization. In any case I don't think the English page has anything left worth referencing, I'll go ahead and delete that.

Like I said before, this wiki is a mess. --Haswell:na (talk) 16:41, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

Lima's?

I noticed the addition of 3 Lima variant ships in the roster. How do they differ from their premium counterparts?--Scinfaxi:na (talk) 23:14, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

I'm assuming they are promo ships since they are statistically identical to their "normal" counterparts, other than that I have no idea. I simply fill out uninitialized vehicle pages. --Haswell:na (talk) 05:01, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

PS4

Just wondering if you know, will WoT PS4 have its own link or will it be combined with the Xbox link to make just a Console tab? --Scinfaxi:na (talk) 23:58, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

I have no idea how PS4 will be handled, or when it will come to the wiki at all. Ideally it should be combined with Xbox seeing there should be no difference between the two versions, but that's just my speculation. WG doesn't exactly have a history of telling me how they plan on breaking things. --Haswell:na (talk) 00:41, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Well on that basis it can go two ways. First way is if it will combine with Xbox to be a single console link, that means all tanks and updates will have to be the same as Xbox when it releases. The other way is if PS4 starts off with fewer vehicles, maps and updates than Xbox, it will have to be split so theres no confusion or until it catches up. --Scinfaxi:na (talk) 01:18, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Either way, I'll need to wait until WG updates their backend data and settings, then I'll know what I have to work with. --Haswell:na (talk) 01:38, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

French Translation

Is it possible to translate wiki in French? It seems French section exist already but isn't visible. If you need someone to translate in French, I can do it. John_Messias:eu (talk) 18:14, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

I enabled the French localization pack, it should be visible now (I don't actually have a way to check though). As much as I want to help translate everything into French, je ne parle pas francais, so you'll have to muster a team of your own to do that. I will gladly assist with any technical stuff.
The French homepage can be accessed here: https://wiki.wargaming.net/fr/Accueil
--Haswell:na (talk) 19:32, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you. I will looking that soon. John_Messias:eu (talk) 17:01, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Individual Tank Stats

Do you know how to edit the stats of the modules of individual tanks (e.g. the penetration, ROF, shell damage etc.)?

Impossible at this point, since all the data are automatically parsed in using WG's API. If the data is faulty the most you can do is pester them until they fix their numbers.
The landing page for Blitz is protected for admin edits only, since it's a high traffic page and is extremely prone to vandalism. Feel free to open it up for public editing if you think it's better that way, as long as you are aware of the potential messes.
Annotation image for E-25 Custom is also reuploaded from existing assets.
--Haswell:na (talk) 00:38, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Adding New Sections

I am still a wiki noob, but how does one put another section under say, Game Mechanics on the Blitz landing page? I would love to have a whole set of mechanics explained, similar to the WoT page.

https://i.imgur.com/0PtLqNa.png
I've marked the source code with the appropriate colors corresponding to what they do in the current Blitz page, to add a Game Mechanics page simply add another item to the unsorted list, with this template:
{{Icon list item|yourimage.png|targetpage|displaytext}}
You will need to dig around the file list for the appropriate image names. You can also copy how the PC page is done right now and just change the target page to point to wherever you want. Don't be afraid to mess up, there's always the rollback button.
--Haswell:na (talk) 23:01, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Adding tanks to page

Is it possible to add tanks to the wiki? I have requests for the AC-1 and the T7 Combat Car coming in. Sorrry for so many questions. I thought I had to wait for API to do it. And can we have the Japanese Medium line as well?

New vehicles will be added to the list automatically as the API allows it. Usually the database updates as the game client does, so for tanks not currently available in the client the database will also not have any data on them. The T7 CC and AC-1 currently do not exist in the game client or the Blitz database. Ditto with most Japanese tanks. To create manual entries for vehicles a completely new template will have to be drawn up.
Also, it's a good habit to sign messages to identify who's saying what, as the only other means to identification is tracking down who made each edit. While not an issue with low activity pages, it becomes hard to keep track when there are multiple conversations going on. --Haswell:na (talk) 02:56, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
Alright, Tanks Haswell. Shawk_91:na (talk) 00:13, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Applying to be an editor for World of Tanks Blitz

Hi Haswell, I am 1233thedevastastor from Asia server (SEA).

I want to be a WoT Blitz Editor and also World of Tanks Editor. For me, I am a player in the SEA Server and I can write also in Chinese

As a SEA server player in World of Tanks, and a WoT Blitz Player in SEA and NA at the same time, I hope that I can help edit this Wiki to be more user-friendly I have a good knowledge of extensive wiki coding.

Hope I can edit and improve this wiki, particularly in the Chinese Wiki which is now locked and I cannot access

Cheers for happy editing! --1233thedevastastor:sea (talk) 07:16, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

Go ahead and mess with the pages as you see fit. Regarding the Chinese localization, you should contact your regional community team for more information since I have no idea what WG wants at an official capacity, hopefully I can get some communication from them as well to get the ball rolling. --Haswell:na (talk) 06:36, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

wot:g wiki

hello haswell!

are you still looking for contributors for the wot:g wiki? as far as i can see it the wiki needs to be started from scratch, for which my wiki skills are probably not enough. but if there's an existing wiki already, i'd write some card and hq descriptions.

--killswitch247:eu (talk) 00:30, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

I literally have no idea what Generals is about or how things should be done, I will have to confer with Alo8ight for that. Hang tight. --Haswell:na (talk) 00:54, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
any new developments? --killswitch247:eu (talk) 12:57, 21 January 2016 (UTC)
Nadda right now, still waiting on the higher ups. It might help if you gather people who are interested in helping out with Generals stuff and start planning what you want to see on the wiki, that way you can also pitch the proposal over to WG and tell them to hurry up. --Haswell:na (talk) 23:09, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Camouflage in Blitz

As of the recent update, camouflage was added to Blitz --1233thedevastastor:sea (talk) 04:46, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

User:Shawk_91:na is the primary person in charge of all Blitz stuff, you should talk to him about that. I admit I'm pretty out of the loop with all the game titles right now, I just make sure the wiki doesn't fall apart. --Haswell:na (talk) 00:55, 15 January 2016 (UTC)

Applying for editor

Hi! I was wondering if I could apply as an editor on the wiki, as I love to contribute to the wiki. I want to help in all of the sections as much as I can. I tried messaging Alo8ight but his inbox is too full for new messages. Thank you! Jawa457:na (talk) 20:41, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Go ahead and edit anything you see fit on the wiki, there are very little restrictions. Alo8ight has left WG and won't be answering his PMs anytime soon. Which reminds me, I should update the announcement on the front page. --Haswell:na (talk) 21:32, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
ok is there a guide on how to use the templates? I noticed the WOWS pages need work and there is nothing on the English WOT G pages. I know a bit about mediawiki but I am still quite a noob Jawa457:na (talk) 21:12, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
There isn't really a guide on how things work, everything is trial and error. Templates work by accepting input variables and spitting out what they are written to do, for example Template:ShipData grabs the page name and parses that into one of the database extensions, then the extension returns nicely formatted blocks for vehicle description, modules and compatible equipment. The vehicle name is then further used to build the sidebar data line by line also by using another extension that allows automatic data retrieval. Finally there are the sections like player opinions and historical stuff that allow manual input.

I've been meaning to finish up ShipData for several months now, but I kept putting it off due to how confusing the extension usage is (WG didn't provide complete documentation on them) and the lack of official support. I've unprotected the template for now, feel free to muck around with it, if you really mess something up you can always revert to an earlier revision of the page.

WoT Generals I have no idea what it is or how it should be presented on the wiki, WG never told me what they want or how to do anything with it. If you want to give it a shot be my guest.

Yes I was looking at ShipData and had some thoughts for it that I think I will try out in the sandbox. I will toy around with WOT G a bit. There seems to be stuff in Russian I will try to translate. However both of these documents are imposible to edit by me. Is there some "wiki manager" rank or something I can use to be able to edit these pages? Jawa457:na (talk) 23:29, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Strange, I thought I un-protected ShipData already... In any case, WoT_Generals and Template:ShipData should be completely unprotected now. Have fun. --Haswell:na (talk) 00:59, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Great! I will tell you when I am done. What files do they use for the flags on the pages? Jawa457:na (talk) 15:42, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
Explain, what flags? --Haswell:na (talk) 08:39, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
nevermind I got itJawa457:na (talk) 15:47, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

a creeping eyeball on the WoWS ships section

Hey Haswell,

hope you don't mind me skulking around editing stuff in ships section, especially for the cruisers and battleships. Tend to get some minor vandalism here and there and some weird stuff.

Not at all, it's always nice to have help with the wiki, keep up the good work! --Haswell:na (talk) 18:43, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Thanks XD

Equipment list on tanks

Hey Haswell! It looks like on Blitz tank pages that compatible equipment is automatically pulled from somewhere. Is it possible to update the icons with actual Blitz icons that I yanked from the game files? Thanks Shawk_91:na (talk) 19:49, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

Not that I know of, the images are automatically generated by the widget and are shared across PC, Console and Blitz. It is not possible to update the graphics for just Blitz while leaving the other two titles intact. Sorry. :c --Haswell:na (talk) 06:15, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Interest as a WoT Blitz Wiki Editor

Hi Haswell!

I've been working on various sections of the World of Tanks Blitz Wiki, primarily sections in the Modules and Options pages. Here is a list of things that I plan on working on, or would like to work on. Unfortunately, I can't make changes to the homepage because of restricted access (I think).

Homepage:

  • Addition of Crew/Crew Skills under the Options heading
  • Addition of Gunnery & Armor Penetration and Battle Mechanics under the Game Mechanics heading
  • Addition of Clans/Clan Wars section under the Guide heading
  • Addition of a Videos section under Guide (I'd like to feature official content as well as approved video guides made by CWG members)
  • Editing/Addition of images under the Gallery heading
  • Changing the Video heading to Trailers to feature only promotion content, while guides/ASAP videos are placed in the previous mentioned Videos section under Guide
  • Bulleted list item
  • Rewording or removal of the final line in the general description
Quote:
A truly free-to-play game. No timers, energy bars, fuel—play as much as you want and whenever you want.
  • Addition of RU Server in the Online Players box (if possible)
  • Removal of the Radio section under Modules (radios are not a module in WoTB)

Gun:

  • Addition of the Japanese guns
  • Editing/Removal of specific guns/gun stats (the table is copied from the PC version, and some stats/guns are different or not used by tanks in Blitz)

Turret:

  • Addition of Turret data for Blitz

Engine:

  • Addition of Engine data for Blitz

Suspension:

  • Addition of Suspension data for Blitz (without the load-limit statistic)

I currently plan on reworking the gun pages so that they're no just copy-and-pastes from the other game wikis (I only meant for them to be temporary). But I'll update the above list as I progress. Thanks for your time and efforts in maintaining the Wiki!

Hey Fog! Good to have you on board. I'll take care of some of the front page stuff. I'm still working on the nuances. I can do quite a bit though. Feel free to PM me on the forums if you run into a roadblock. Also, try to sign your messages by leaving 4 tildes together(~) 07 Shawk_91:na (talk) 05:13, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
Shawk ninja'd me while I was typing my original reply, looks like he covered all the landing page stuff. :P
Adding RU server numbers is possible, but if I do it for Blitz I'll have to do it for Planes (hue) and PC as well, which is something I decided against a while back on the basis of leaving RU things on the RU side. If the demand is high enough however, I'll make it happen.
And yeah, I am aware of a whole lot of missing vehicles for Blitz due to the outdated database. Sly should also know about this already, so it's a matter of waiting for the database to be updated.--Haswell:na (talk) 06:15, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Wiki questions

I have a couple questions about the wiki. First, anyone have any idea how https://wiki.wargaming.net/ru/%D0%A8%D0%B0%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BD:Wotg_kat works? And how do the {{#gw}} things work and where can I find a list of them. Lastly, in case I make a mistake, is there a way to delete pages?
