{{TankData|Tank=M6A2E1 |Originally available as part of the game's Heavy Pre-Order Package. It is a basically an up-armored M6 with a T29 turret. Thanks to the rather strange looking fusion, this tank has earned the nickname of "mutant". It is equipped with the 105mm T5E1 gun. In comparison with the T29, it has a smaller mantlet, so it is easier to damage the turret. Although it has the same gun as T29 and T32, its reload time is lower than fully upgraded T29. It has good maneuverability for a heavy tank, but the speed is limited to 29 km/h. Although it has more frontal armor than any American heavy tank prior to tier 8, it has paper-thin sides, so flanking this tank can easily destroy it. Presently this vehicle is only available for purchase on the RU server. One weird thing is also the back of the turret has more armor than the front. |InTheGame_pros= * Good frontal armor * Good maneuverability * Very rare, so people do not know the armor values. This causes a lot of bouncing shots * High ammorack hitpoints (same as the Maus!) |InTheGame_cons= * Limited top speed * Long, tall silhouette * Terrible side and rear armor * Very slow traverse * Poor signal range |InTheGame_performance= The M6A2E1 is different and confusing to players who have never played against it before due to its equal hull and turret armor values, unlike the T32 or T29. Use that as an advantage and go toe to toe with enemy KV-5 and Löwe tanks, hitting their weak spots while they search for yours. Do be careful though, the turret mantlet is small and shots tend to penetrate around the mantlet and at the turret ring. Also, gold rounds will negate your front armor, so if you notice enemy rounds penetrating consistently, its either a bigger foe or gold ammunition, so try to minimize your engagements to singular combat. Also, your side armor is nearly non-existent at any tier you fight, meaning even 76mm armed foes can bring you down if you are not careful. Best plan is to try to not let yourself get ambushed or flanked you may not be able to recover. Hull down still applies even if your hull is just as thick, giving your gun mantlet more of a chance to bounce rounds than risk your tracks being blown. Interestingly enough, the back of the tank's turret is thicker than the front. This may seem like a useless value, but with the back of the turret potruding noticeably over the rear of the tank, it can actually help mitigate damage from SPG fire and prevent your engine being hit and set on fire. |InTheGame_research= None, this is a premium tank |InTheGame_equipment= Vents, Tank Gun Rammer, Vertical Stabilizer |Gallery= image:M6A2E1_001.jpgM6A2E1_001 image:M6A2E1_002.jpgM6A2E1_002 image:M6A2E1_003.jpgM6A2E1_003 image:M6A2E1_004.jpgM6A2E1_004 |History= After the invasion of Europe, the US Army expected that there would be a requirement for a limited number of tanks with extremely thick armor and powerful armament to break through heavily fortified areas. It was proposed that the T1E1s be modified by removing the bow machine gun mounts and the driver's vision door and then welding additional steel plate on the front to provide protection equivalent to 190mm of vertical armor. A new turret was to be installed mounting the high velocity 105mm gun T5E1. This turret, designed for the new heavy tank T29, required an 203cm diameter turret ring compared to the 175mm ring on the T1E1. However, it was considered feasible to modify the hulls to accept the larger ring. It was believed that 15 of the T1E1s could be modified in 90 days, if the required high priorities could be obtained. Out of the 20 production T1E1s available, the remaining five were to be used for spare parts. On 14 August 1944 modification of the 15 tanks was recommended, they were designated as the heavy tank M6A2E1. The goal for delivery was set as 15 November. The Army Ground Forces had been cool toward the project from the first and the Army Service Forces had referred the matter to General Eisenhower in a cablegram dated 2 August 1944. His reply on 18 August stated that the 15 modified tanks were not wanted as they were considered impractical for use in the European Theater of Operations. This effectively killed the project and probably it was a very good thing. Tests at Aberdeen on a T1E1 loaded to the expected 77-ton weight of the M6A2EI showed that it could not climb a 40 per cent slope. Since it was not considered practical to change the final drive reduction in the time available, the M6A2E1s would have been limited to operation on favorable terrain. After cancellation of the project, it was requested that two M6A2E1 s be completed to test the turret and armament for the new heavy tank T29. This request was approved and two turrets, gun mounts, and fighting compartments armed with the 105mm gun T5E1 were completed and proof fired at Aberdeen Proving Ground. The two M6A2E1s were not fitted with the additional hull armor specified in the original project since it was not required for this test program. On 14 December 1944, US Army classified the heavy tanks M6, M6A1, and T1E1 obsolete and subsequently the tanks were scrapped except for a single T1E1 once on display at the Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen. <table style="border: 1px solid;text-align:center;"> <caption>American Heavy tank comparision</caption> <tr style="vertical-align:top; border-bottom:1px solid #999;"> <th></th> <th style="text-align:center;">Mk.VII</th> <th style="text-align:center;">M6</th> <th style="text-align:center;">T28</th> <th style="text-align:center;">T29</th> <th style="text-align:center;">T30</th> <th style="text-align:center;">T32</th> <th style="text-align:center;">T34</th> <th style="text-align:center;">M103A2</th> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Crew</th> <td>8</td> <td>6</td> <td>4</td> <td>6</td> <td>6</td> <td>5</td> <td>6</td> <td>5</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Lenght</th> <td>10,43m</td> <td>8,43m</td> <td>11,12m</td> <td>11,56m</td> <td>10,9m</td> <td>10,83m</td> <td>11,77m</td> <td>11,23m</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Width</th> <td>3,66m</td> <td>3,12m</td> <td>4,54m</td> <td>3,8m</td> <td>3,8m</td> <td>3,76m</td> <td>3,8m</td> <td>3,63m</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Height</th> <td>3,12m</td> <td>3,00m</td> <td>2,86m</td> <td>3,22m</td> <td>3,22m</td> <td>2,81m</td> <td>3,22m</td> <td>3,56m</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Weight</th> <td>39,5t</td> <td>57,4t</td> <td>86,3t</td> <td>64,25t</td> <td>64,74t</td> <td>54,5t</td> <td>65,2t</td> <td>58,1t</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Engine<br />power</th> <td>Liberty<br />338hp</td> <td>G-200<br />960hp</td> <td>GAF<br />500hp</td> <td>GAC<br />770hp</td> <td>AV1790<br />810hp</td> <td>GAC<br />770hp</td> <td>AV1790<br />810hp</td> <td>AV1790<br />750hp</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Max. speed</th> <td>8,8km/h</td> <td>35km/h</td> <td>12,8km/h</td> <td>35km/h</td> <td>35km/h</td> <td>35km/h</td> <td>35km/h</td> <td>37km/h</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">hull armour<br />(angle)</th> <td>12mm<br />(28)</td> <td>83mm<br />(30)</td> <td>305mm</td> <td>102mm<br />(54)</td> <td>102mm<br />(54)</td> <td>127mm<br />(54)</td> <td>102mm<br />(54)</td> <td>127mm<br />(60)</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">side armour</th> <td>12mm</td> <td>70mm</td> <td>152mm</td> <td>76mm</td> <td>76mm</td> <td>76mm</td> <td>76mm</td> <td>51mm</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Turret armour<br />(mantlet)</th> <td>16mm</td> <td>83mm<br />(102mm)</td> <td>-</td> <td>178mm<br />(279mm)</td> <td>178mm<br />(279mm)</td> <td>298mm<br />(298mm)</td> <td>178mm<br />(279mm)</td> <td>127mm<br />(254mm)</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">top armour</th> <td>6-10mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>38mm</td> <td>38mm</td> <td>38mm</td> <td>38mm</td> <td>38mm</td> <td>38mm</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">bottom armour</th> <td>6-8mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>25mm</td> <td>38mm</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Gun</th> <td>2x57mm<br />Hotchkiss</td> <td>75mm M7<br />37mm MB</td> <td>105mm<br />T5E1</td> <td>105mm<br />T5E2</td> <td>155mm<br />T7</td> <td>90mm<br />T15E2</td> <td>120mm<br />T53</td> <td>120mm<br />M58</td> </tr> <tr style="vertical-align:top;"> <th style="text-align:left;">Secondary<br />armament</th> <td>5x7,62mm<br />Hotchkiss</td> <td>2x12,7mm <br />HB M2<br />2x7,62mm<br />M1919A4</td> <td>12,7mm<br />HB M2</td> <td>3x12,7mm<br />HB M2<br />7.62mm<br />M1919M4</td> <td>2x12,7mm<br />HB M2<br />7.62mm<br />M1919M4</td> <td>12,7mm<br />HB M2<br />2x7.62mm<br />M1919M4</td> <td>3x12,7mm<br />HB M2<br />7.62mm<br />M1919M4</td> <td>3x12,7mm<br />HB M2<br />7.62mm<br />M37</td> </tr> </table> |HistoricalGallery= image:M6a2e1.jpgThe M6A2E1 on the testing grounds image:M6a2e1_at_Aberdeen.jpgThe M6A2E1 at the Aberdeen Proving Ground on the 7th of June, 1945 image:M6a2e1_technical_drawing.gifThe M6A2E1 Techincal Drawings |Ref_references= |Ref_sources= * R.P.
