An Oregon City-class heavy cruiser with more advanced AA weaponry and a different arrangement for her AA defenses as compared to her direct predecessors—the Baltimore-class ships.

Pros:

  • Like Baltimore, Rochester uses superheavy AP shells with high penetration and improved penetration angles
  • High shell arcs allow to shoot at enemy ships from behind island cover
  • Access to the long-emission and long-duration Smoke GeneratorLegends_Smoke_Generator.pngtypical of USN destroyers
  • Access to Defensive AA FireLegends_DFAA.pngand SonarLegends_Sonar.pngin separate slots
  • Good AA defenses
  • Good speed at 33 knots unmodified (0.5 knots faster than Baltimore)
  • Great concealment



Cons:

  • Rather short main battery range
  • Worse rate of fire than Baltimore
  • High shell arcs make hitting targets at range difficult
  • As with most USN cruisers, Rochester does not carry torpedoes
  • Sluggish rudder shift
