Schröder
Ship Overview
Schröder — German
Premium Tier VIII Cruiser.
Drawing on experience gained in World War I, during the late 1920s, Germany began to consider the idea of developing a large surface raider. The projects had to account for Great Britain's intention to limit battleship armament to a maximum caliber of 12 inches (305 mm) in upcoming naval conferences. Therefore, under the proposed designs, the standard displacement varied between 17,500 and 25,000 tons, while the armament consisted of four turrets housing eight 12-inch guns, accompanied by a strong secondary battery of 5.9-inch (150 mm) guns.
Schröder was released as the final reward of the Lion of Flanders campaign, which took place from February 19th to March 25th, 2024.

Performance
History
Cruiser - SchröderAdmiral Shröder is based on a Reichsmarine (Weimar Republic Navy) proposal for a 17 500 tons battlecruiser, dated from 1928. The project asked for a battlecruiser armed with eight 12 inches/305mm guns in four twin turrets, a secondary armament of nine 5.9 inches/150mm guns (the same as those of the K class, the Königsberg class) and with six torpedo tubes, three per side. Her armour would be the same as the Deutschland class which were then being designed (represented in-game by the premium ship Admiral Graf Spee) but with a higher speed of 34 knots compared to the 28 of the Panzerschiffe, and with less range. It’s interesting to note her propulsion system is composed of turbines like the traditional german battlecruiser, rather than a diesel system like the Deutschland class.
In World of Warships Legends, the ship is named after the German Admiral Ludwig von Schröder, following the Reichsmarine, then Kriegsmarine tradition of naming ships after major navy figures.
Admiral Shröder is represented in-game with a fictional 1944 modernisation. Her hull shape and main gun layout are accurate to the historical design, but she’s fitted with an atlantic bow (where her historical blueprints had a bow similar to Deutschland and Scharnhorst class as-built) and a full reconstruction of her structure to fit newer technology such as radar. She also lost both torpedo racks for five twin 12.7 cm/61 KM40 turrets on each flank to boost her AA defence and secondary armament ; however, while being historic and intended for naval usage, those guns were never used on Kriegsmarine ships. She’s also fitted with 55mm L/77 Gerät 58 Zwilling, a kind of AA gun planned for the Zerstörer 1942C class (represented in-game by the Legendary Ship Z-52) but never put into service. Schröder lack both catapult of the design in favour of her new secondary armament. Finally, she’s slower than her historical design, going 32.5 knots instead of the 34 intended.
