Player Opinion
Pros:
- Very good HE shell penetration and good fire chance for 152mm guns
- High shell arcs, useful to lob shells over island cover
- Reasonably good HP pool for a light cruiser
- Excellent concealment with all the relevant upgrades
- Strong AA suite, aided by Defensive AA Fire
- Seven different consumables, including Surveillance Radar
Cons:
- Extremely poor main battery firing angles
- Rear deck armor aside, Seattle is even less armored than Cleveland
- Poor shell velocity and high arcs make long range gunnery difficult
- Completely lacks secondary armaments and torpedoes
Performance
History
Seattle is based on a US Navy proposal for a AA cruiser, dated from 1941 ; more accurately, the 6" A.A. Cruiser Scheme "A" - 4 Triple Turrets. The ship was a successor to both the Cleveland class light cruiser and Atlanta class superlight cruiser, and the design series ultimately became the Worcester class light cruiser. It’s interesting to note that the ship doesn’t have any secondary armament, and all the heavy anti-artillery is composed of 12 6 inches/152mm dual purpose main battery. The speed was intended to be around 33 knots, and with a light armour of 3.5 inches/88mm.
In World of Warships Legends, the ship is named after the city of Seattle, following the US Navy tradition of naming cruisers after the capital city of states.
As Seattle was never built, both her AA suit are fictional. The hull A one is fairly accurate, but has twins 40mm Bofor mounts where the original design was conceived with quad mounts. She also had height Bofor mounts (the sterns, the two at the back of the structure and the ones under the main tower) that weren't on the design, and all the 20mm Oerlikon placement is fictional. Seattle hull B gives her her twin 40mm Bofor as intended, but adds even more 20mm Oerlikon on the structure and at the back, in a similar fashion to most US Navy vessels receiving more AA armament during the conflict.
