Yūdachi was first released as the final reward of the Sword of the Pacific campaign, which took place from May 18th to June 22nd, 2020. The ship is now available in the store for 750 000 Global XP.

Destroyer - Yūdachi

Pros:

• Excellent HE alpha damage
• Can equip two (2) different types of torpedoes
• Torpedoes have a decent reload time, great speed and damage
• Comes equipped with both Smoke Generatorand Torpedo Reload Boosterin separate slots

Cons:

• Very poor main battery DPM
• Alternative torpedoes have an abysmal 7km base range
• Very small HP pool
• Worst AA defenses of any Tier VII destroyer; very vulnerable to plane attacks

Performance

History

Destroyer - Yūdachi

Yūdachi was a Shiratsuyu-class destroyer that saw extensive service throughout the beginning of World War II in the Pacific. When the war began, she served as part of Destroyer Division 2, and assisted in several invasions: the Philippines, Lingayen, Tarakan, Balikpapan, and Cebu. She even participated in the Battle of the Java Sea; however, Yūdachi is most known for her combat in the Solomon Islands. During the Solomon Islands campaign, Yūdachi made several Tokyo Express supply runs, sank two American converted Wickes-class destroyer-transports, and bombarded Henderson airfield. On November 13, 1942, Yūdachi more or less started the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal by nearly running into a US destroyer. During the battle, Yūdachi and her crew were separated from most of the Japanese forces, but scored a torpedo hit on a US heavy cruiser. Quite famously, the Yūdachi was disabled in the battle but setup a makeshift sail in futile defiance. The ship had to be abandoned, and the crew was rescued. Yūdachi was sunk shortly afterward.

• For her actions around the Solomon Islands, Yūdachi earned the nickname “Nightmare of Solomon.”
