Atlântico — Pan-American special premium Tier VIII battleship.
During the development of the future Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was offered several dozen projects. One proposal came from Admiral de Basellar to install 240 mm secondary battery guns on the battleship, which was a bold step in terms of shipbuilding at that time. In response to this idea, Tennyson-d'Eincourt developed Project 686—a battleship with eight 405 mm guns placed in four turrets and a battleship with six 240 mm guns in three turrets. Despite support from de Basellar, the project was never implemented. Atlântico is a variant of the further development of the Brazilian battleship with more focus placed on increasing her firepower.

Summary
Atlântico is a Pan-American battleship of British design. She is the first Pan-American battleship in the game and features a large main battery of small caliber guns, a unique heavy secondary battery, slow speed, and a turtleback armor layout.
Armor
Atlântico is a decently armored battleship, with a 32mm fore and aft end deck armor and side plating. Her 32mm bow allows Atlântico to bounce any AP shell in her matchmaking spread with a caliber less than 457mm. Atlântico’s bow is further protected by a lower 102mm and 152mm plate that extends below the waterline. The side of her turtleback features a 356mm plate along the waterline, which is the main belt protecting Atlântico’s citadel, and a slightly lighter 305mm plate above the 356mm plate. Her upper armor belt has 152mm plating that extends to the deck which is 51mm thick. Atlântico’s has a small, spread out superstructure with 19mm plating, standard for most superstructures at her tier and higher.
Armament
Atlântico is a battleship meant for mid range engagements. She is armed with 5 twin mounted turrets carrying 381mm guns. Her guns are average for the tier, with a 1.8 sigma, but lack the ability to overmatch 27mm of armor found on most high tier cruisers due to their small size. To put Atlântico further at a disadvantage, she is only armed with AP shells, so she cannot start fires on angled targets without using her secondaries. Her AP shells have an alpha damage of 10700, one of the lowest at tier VIII. Atlântico’s stock range is 18.6km which is on the lower end of gun ranges for tier VIII, further emphasizing the close to mid range playstyle of the ship.
Atlântico’s main strength in close range combat is her secondary battery. They have improved accuracy and a max range of 11.3km. While she mounts 10 single 127mm guns, Atlântico stands out compared to other secondary focused battleships by featuring 8 twin mount 234mm turrets, with the same guns as the main battery of Cheshire. With most of the same characteristics as Cheshire’s main armament, they are able to deal a max damage of 3850 and can penetrate 51mm of armor.
Battleships, cruisers, and destroyers alike will feel the focus of Atlântico’s heavy secondaries. When combined with her main battery, Atlântico makes a very powerful close quarters battleship.
Anti-Aircraft
Atlântico features one of the stronger AA armaments at Tier VIII. She features a wide variety of armaments, mostly covering the short and mid ranges. Her long range AA guns reach out to 5.8km, and deal 95 hp of continuous damage. The mid range AA deals a strong 336 in continuous damage and has a range of 3.5km. Atlântico’s short range AA deals a slightly stronger 343 hp of continuous damage and range of 2km. Her long range AA is further reinforced by 5 flak explosions that deal 1400hp of damage, overall making Atlântico a solid AA platform that allows players to deal with enemy planes themselves, and support allied ships.
Battle Performance
Atlântico’s slow speed of 25 knots and low main battery range of 18.6km means positioning is the key to being effective in battle. Using her strengths to her advantage, Atlântico should be played in close to mid range engagements. Players should use her low concealment, which can top out at 11.52km, to get closer to enemy targets to use the secondary battery. Atlântico should position herself to ambush targets that are broadside due to the lack of overmatch on her main battery. The 234mm secondary battery allows Atlântico’s secondaries to penetrate heavily armored ships and provide more than just a chance to start fires at close range. To make Atlântico even more effective in combat, she is equipped with American improved Damage Control Party which allows Atlântico to be immune from fire and flooding for 20 seconds without upgrades.
While Atlântico may take some time and careful positioning to be effective in battle due to her slow speed, limited ammo choice, and small caliber main battery, she is one of the strongest close range-focused ships at Tier VIII with her heavy secondaries, strong AA, and strong armor layout.Pros:
- Powerful secondary battery with improved accuracy and range.
- Long action time on Damage Control Party .
- Decent concealment maxing at 11.52km.
Cons:
- Small main battery with lack of overmatch capability.
- Armed with AP only on the main guns.
- Slow reload on the 234mm secondary guns.
- Top speed of 25 knots without upgrades.

Optimal Configuration
Atlântico’s stands out from the rest of the secondary focused battleships by having good concealment but a long reload time on her Repair Party . With this in mind, Atlântico is more effective with Concealment Expert and Fire Prevention for her secondary 4th tier commander skills over Emergency Repair Expert.

- Preliminary characteristics.
- DevBlog 275:
- Removed the Hydroacoustic Search consumable.
- Main Battery AP shells' fuse delay, ricochet angles, and arming threshold all adjusted to standard values for Tier 8 Battleships:
- Fuse time decreased from 0.050 to 0.033 s.
- AP shells' ricochet check angle decreased from 60 to 45 degrees.
- AP shells' guaranteed ricochet angle decreased from 67.5 to 60 degrees.
- Arming threshold increased from 21 to 64 mm.
- Secondary battery accuracy parameters changed:
- 127 mm guns: improved to the level of German battleships.
