Attilio Regolo — Italian Tier X destroyer.
The Capitani Romani class was designed as a response to the French Mogador class destroyers. The Italian shipbuilders returned to the idea of minimum protection and maximum speed—the estimated speed of the ships was 40 knots, which was faster than the French leaders' speed. Attilio Regolo was torpedoed by the British submarine HMS Unruffled in November 1942 and was under repair for several months. In September 1943, the ship surrendered to the Allies. After the war, Attilio Regolo was transferred to France under reparations and renamed "Châteaurenault."
Attilio Regolo was first available during Update 0.11.2. on 17th Mar 2022.

Tier X Italian destroyer Attilio Regolo is the culmination of the game play developed over the line. She gains increased offensive capabilities with improvements to artillery, torpedoes, and maneuverability. With access to unique consumables and semi-armor piercing (SAP) shells, Attilio Regolo is a formidable gun destroyer.
Armament:
Attilio Regolo uses 135mm/45 Model 1938 turrets, the same ones carried by Adriatico. Attilio Regolo gains an extra turret and a slightly faster 5.5-second reload, which increases her damage per minute on both SAP and HE shells. Her turrets turn slowly, with a 18-second 180-degree turn time. Her SAP shells have high alpha damage and can penetrate 38mm armor plating, but cannot light fires; they will also ricochet at sharp angles. Her HE shells feature modest damage and can only penetrate 23mm armor plating but have a 9% fire chance. As with the other Italian destroyers, Attilio Regolo has the lowest base firing range of any destroyer at her tier with a 9.6km range. The range can be extended with the Main Battery & AA Expert skill to 11.5 km.
Attilio Regolo’s torpedoes are the same ones found on tier X Italian cruisers Venezia and Napoli. Her launchers are positioned centerline and have 4 torpedoes per launcher, but a longer 90 second reload. These torpedoes are quite slow, with a long 13.5km range and low detectability. While these torpedoes lack high alpha damage, their fast reload time and long range complement Attilio Regolo’s gun-focused play style.
Consumables:
Attilio Regolo uses the standard Italian destroyer consumables — Exhaust Smoke Generator and Emergency Engine Power . Her smoke allows her to sail at full speed during the smoke bloom period while being fully concealed. The Emergency Engine Power consumable has a short duration but provides a 25% increase in speed, pushing her top speed over 50 knots. She carries 6 charges for each consumable.
Hull:
Attilio Regolo has a high base health pool of 26,800 and a base speed of 41 knots. However, her surface concealment is mediocre, only 7.2km with Concealment Expert and Concealment System Modification 1. While her rudder shift and turning radius are decent, her large hull makes her an easier target to hit.
Battle Performance:
Attilio Regolo serves the role of an ambush destroyer as well as a short-ranged damage farmer. Ambushing enemy destroyers is encouraged through the usage of high alpha damage SAP shells and high health pool. Her Exhaust Smoke Generator and Emergency Engine Power help her outtrade and delete destroyers in knife fights while also being used to escape without dying. While her short range is a considerable downside, it allows players to go unspotted once the hull exits gun range. Her slow, long-range, and low detectability Italian torpedoes are useful at denying key areas.
When not able to ambush enemy destroyers, Attilio Regolo is a formidable open water damage dealer. While her range is low for a gunboat destroyer, her high SAP damage per minute encourages active use of her guns at range. Emergency Engine Power allows her to dodge shells easily with the use of propulsion and her high speed. Exhaust Smoke Generator allows her to cut line of sight when needed and allows her to deal damage from smoke for the consumable duration. Due to the many charges she gets, Attilio Regolo can accomplish both roles in a single match according to the situation.Pros:
- Large health pool
- SAP shells with high alpha and damage per minute
- Long range torpedoes with low detection
- High top speed
- Access to Emergency Engine Power and Exhaust Smoke Generator
Cons:
- Large target
- Very short main battery range
- Slow turret traverse speed
- Lower torpedo damage
- High concealment
- Cannot outrun her smokescreen deployment

Upgrades
The recommended upgrades are:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1
- Slot 2: Engine Room Protection or Engine Boost Modification 1 (special)
- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1 or Torpedo Tubes Modification 1
- Slot 4: Propulsion Modification 1 or Steering Gears Modification 1
- Slot 5: Concealment System Modification 1 *
- Slot 6: Main Battery Modification 3 or Torpedo Tubes Modification 2
In Slot 5, commanders can opt for Steering Gears Modification 2 to speed up Attilio Regolo's rudder shift. However, Concealment System Modification 1 is still recommended due to her high detection.
Commander Skills
Luigi Sansonetti is highly recommended for Attilio Regolo due to the useful and easily achievable talents that he provides.
The Far Reach talent provides a 8% increase to firing range once per battle after an enemy ship is destroyed. This brings Attilio Regolo’s max range to 12.4 km. While this hurts her ability to go unspotted by exiting gun range, the added range is beneficial for long range farming and the ability to dodge shells at longer ranges.
The Concealed Reserves talent provides a 10% increase to consumable duration once per battle after 100 shell hits. This talent gives the Emergency Engine Boost consumable a maximum duration of 36 seconds and 44 seconds of Exhaust Smoke Generator.
The Rapid Fire talent provides a 15% decrease in reload time once per battle after the Confederate achievement is acquired. While it is harder to activate than the other two, this further increases Attilio Regolo’s damage per minute and effectiveness as a gunboat destroyer.
