Dante Alighieri — Italian Tier IV battleship.

The beginning of the dreadnought race was ignored by Italy due to the high cost of ships of the new class and the commissioning of pre-dreadnought battleships. The project for the first dreadnought began only in 1908. It was the first time triple main battery turrets were used, and anti-mine guns were mounted in the turrets. Built according to this project, Dante Alighieri embarked on as many as four naval missions in World War I as the flagship of the Italian fleet.

Player Opinion

Performance

Warning: The data presented in the AA Defense sidebar section may be incorrect.
Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.

Pros:

  • Main guns have access to SAP that is highly effective against thinly armored and/or angled ships
  • Superstructure is hard to hit and set on fire due to its small size
  • Thick, distributed armor profile can leads to lots of shell bounces when properly angled
  • Large amount of secondaries with reasonable accuracy for brawling
  • Great gun angles, can fire three of the four main turrets while bow-in with a slight angle
  • Built-in -30% shell swap time
  • Decent mobility for a battleship - quick rudder shift and good top speed

Cons:

  • Low hitpoint pool
  • The main guns lack HE shells
  • Very short AA range
  • Main gun range is rather short
  • Second longest reload at Tier IV, only Gangut's is worse
  • Poor concealment
  • Very vulnerable to citadel damage when showing a full broadside
