HMS Iron Duke is the Tier V British battleship. Like her Tier V contemporaries, Iron Duke boasts large caliber guns and thick armor. The main armor belt covers the majority of the hull which can help protect the ship when angling against large caliber guns. However, the armor will not protect the ship against broadside salvos.
Iron Duke is fitted with ten 343mm guns in a layout similar to König and New York. While Iron Duke’s armor piercing shells are often effective against cruisers and other lightly protected targets, they may struggle to deal damage against other battleships; when facing higher tiered or heavily angled battleships, captains should consider switching to high explosive shells. The high alpha damage and fire chance on the HE shells makes them quite effective at damaging targets that the AP shells would normally not harm. Additionally, Iron Duke suffers from a slow turret traverse speed. Captains must plan ahead and begin turning their guns before entering an engagement with enemy ships. In certain situations, it may also be quicker to turn the whole ship rather than wait for the turrets to traverse.
In addition to her main battery, Iron Duke carries a large secondary armament for her tier. While these guns are not as effective as some higher tier battleships’ secondaries, they can help fend off destroyers who sail too close to the ship. The secondary guns may also prove useful in close quarter engagements with other battleships due to the high fire chance they possess.Pros:
- High explosive shells have high maximum damage and fire chance like most British battleships.
- High explosive shells have superb 86mm penetration that allows citadel like burst damage on cruisers and destroyers.
- Armor piercing shells are deadly at close range.
- The ship can fire all ten guns without needing to expose much of her side.
- Powerful secondary armament with long range for her tier.
- Her main guns have better accuracy and damage than Orion’s.
- Improved Repair Party that heals more per charge.
Cons:
- The main guns traverse slowly (72 seconds to turn 180 degrees).
- The AP shells may sometimes struggle to deal damage against enemy battleships from far.
- Shell flight time is slower than most same tier battleships.
- Despite being faster than most battleships at her tier, she is still pretty slow.
- Inferior torpedo protection than other Tier V tech tree battleships.
- Although still sensible, her armor is not as strong as that of König and New York.

Consumables
Iron Duke can equip the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Repair Party
- Slot 3: Spotting Aircraft
Signals
Iron Duke can mount eight signal flags simultaneously. Captains should mount India Delta flags () to increase the amount of hit points the repair party consumable can recover. Sierra Mike flags () are also recommended to increase the ship’s top speed. India Yankee flags () can be mounted to decrease the time needed to extinguish fires.
