Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Highest alpha damage in tier/class (490 avg) with good pen
- Strong turret and upper plate armor
- Rear-mounted turret and thick side armor, very good for sidescraping
- Better than average health pool for a heavy tank
- Very good acceleration for such a heavy vehicle
Cons:
- Poor DPM and long reload time
- Poor gun handling
- Bad gun depression
- Large commander's cupola on top of the turret
- Turret roof is 40 mm thick, which is an overmatch for 122 mm guns
Performance
The VK 75.01k plays between the lines of a support heavy and semi sniper, despite having a rear mounted turret with decent side-armor, it's cupola and turret cheeks are easily penetrated with gold rounds at high tiers, combined with it's huge lower plate. It is not very effective at being a frontline heavy, instead, one should use it to support other heavies and use it's high alpha damage to finish or whittle down enemies.
The VK75.01k's saving grace lies in it's 12,8 cm Kw.K. L/61K cannon, having good penetration (premium ammo) with a damage potential of 400-600. Getting shots into enemies will quickly shave off their health, however, it's gun handling and accuracy is somewhat inconsistent and damage potential varies wildly from rolls as low as 390 dmg to as high as 600 dmg, to make things worst, it has a long reload. However, with a good crew and equipment's such as Gun Rammer and Vents, most of the gun issues can be easily solved.
Like many other German heavy tanks, The Vk75 suffers from mediocre mobility due to it's underpowered engine. As a result, it has bad traverse speed and low top speed, therefore good planning must be made when travelling. Because of that, stick into the cities to avoid artillery fire and protect it's fragile modules.
Oddly enough, the Vk75.01K is hardly seen on battlefields, giving it a novelty factor. However, one should have caution when playing in high-tier battles as the Vk75.01K has very identical looks to the Vk45.21P in tier 9, it is often mistakenly made a primary target because of that.
Starting off, the Vk75.01K can be tough to play when newly acquired due to it's hull layout and quirks, however, once the playstyle is mastered and the tank equipped with a good crew and necessary equipment's, it will quickly become a stout weapon on the battlefields as well as being a excellent crew trainer for German heavies.
