The Chieftain/T95 is a British tier 8 premium medium tank.
Development of the FV4201 Chieftain allowed for the interchangeability of guns with the U.S. T95 tank by means of exchanging turrets. The project was discontinued because of numerous problems with training crews to master two artillery systems.
When developing the FV4201 Chieftain, it was proposed to make the armament interchangeable with the American T95 tank by implementing a turret from it on the Chieftain hull. The project did not continue due to the training requirements on the crew that would have to learn to operate two different gunnery systems.
It was the reward for the "Operation Typhoon" campaign.[1] The tank was advertised as a premium, but when players received it, it didn't have premium credit multiplier. Wargaming changed it in 9.15 to produce extra credits like any other premium tank.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Well-sloped upper plate and strong turret face armor
- Great gun depression (-10 degrees)
- High engine power provides good acceleration
- Good hitpoint pool
- Good viewrange
Cons:
- Very poor side/rear armor
- Enormous and poorly armored cupola on top of the turret
- Fairly low penetration
- Slow for a medium tank
- Large target with poor camouflage
Performance
Some say this tank plays similarly to the E5. With the similar characteristics of a good upper plate, an even better turret somewhat negated by a cupola, a weak lower plate, and a quick firing low alpha gun (for a heavy) the two could be said to play surprisingly similarly. Bait shots with the cupola while working off a ridge using your gun depression and strong turret armour. Don't be too afraid of flashing your upper glacis while you use terrain; it is very well sloped.
The Chieftain, also similar to the E5, has decent mobility for a heavy tank. This means that you may follow the "mediums" path on some maps, and with your armour you can bully same tier mediums, provided that you keep your cupola moving.
Though the penetration is sufficient for tier 8, it does lack penetration somewhat and will struggle against higher tier opponents.
- In 1.13, the Cheiftain/T95 was buffed, due to its underwhelming performance:
Gun handling from 0.18/0.18/0.14 -> 0.14/0.14/0.10 Reload time 8.3 -> 7.5 (1734.94 DPM -> 1920) View range from 380 -> 400 Engine power from 750 -> 850 (hp/t from 15 to 17 hp/t) Basically, the gun handles roughly ~25% better, with a very nice increase to mobility, DPM and View Range.
