The P.43 is an Italian tier 5 medium tank.
The P.43 is an Italian project medium tank developed in the mid-1940s. Only a wooden prototype at a scale of 1:10 was built.
The P.43 leads to the P.43 bis.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Surprisingly good frontal hull armor for its tier, slightly more than the KV-1, and doesn't share its weak spot.
- Good handling and speed for a tier V medium, especially for its frontal armor.
- Powerful top radio for its tier
- Good Gun depression and low lower glacis make it naturally good for hulldown; plus small profile compared to other mediums.
- Very potent HE round on 1st and 2nd gun; 70 pen / 175 dmg can be devastating to soft targets at this tier
Cons:
- 1/5 chance to be set on fire if engine is hit.
- Stock turret makes hulldown tactics trickier.
- Poor accuracy and not very good dispersion when on the move.
- Disappointing top gun, has longest aim time of the 3 it can mount.
- Vulnerable roof, can be one-shot by same-tier SPGs.
Performance
At Tier V the P.43 sits comfortably as a medium-heavy tank. On one hand it has the frontal armor value (80mm + sloping = 110mm effective armor) of a heavy tank. On the other hand it has a choice of three quick firing 75mm guns common for its tier. As a result the P.43 can afford to risk pushing ahead and letting its armor take a hit while punishing poorly armored targets with its 75mm guns. In terms of mobility it is somewhere between a medium tank and a heavy tank, being faster than most Tier V heavies but being one of the slower mediums at its tier. With the good gun-depression and somewhat mediocre accuracy of the top 75mm gun, the P.43 should be played more of a medium-to-close range brawler. Use the armor to bully low-tier tanks while stick to flanking and opportune side shots when you're up against bigger tanks. Do note however that the frontal turret armor is not sloped, and is less reliable for bouncing shots. Fortunately the small profile of the P.43 helps to make you a smaller target.
It is also worth noticing, that its crew setup is different from the previous vehicles, requiring a dedicated gunner and retiring the radio operator. Plan your crew skills accordingly in advance.
Early Research
The Maybach HL 120 evoluzione engine carries over from the previous tank. Mount that immediatly.
As it was on the P26/40, the stock tracks can hold all top modules but not full set of equipments. One can mount both the gun rammer and the GLD, if willing to postpone the top engine.
Research the 75/46 cannon, then the turret for a major boost on survivability and firepower;
Next the tracks for better dynamics, and higher weight capacity. One may mount full equipments from here on.
Now one has a choice: the top engine offers minor improvement on mobility, while the 75/50 Skoda gun offers greater penetration and high velocity APCR shots (that also lose more penetration at distance), at the cost of halved HE shells penetration. Decide with one's own preference.
Finish any remaining modules and go from there.

The ingame vehicle is not actually a P43, but a slightly modified P26/40. The ingame P43 bis bears closer resemblance to the real P43 mockup.
