The CS-63 is a Polish tier 10 medium tank.
A medium tank intended as a replacement for the T-34-85. Developed in Poland, it combined available designs of the Soviet tank-building school with original ideas. However, in 1968, T-55 production was launched in the country and the project was discontinued. No prototypes were built.
The CS-63 marks the end of its Polish medium line.

Player Opinion
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Can switch to "turbo mode", which provides a significant boost to speed and engine power
- Good DPM, shell velocity and gun handling
- Good gun depression
- Large hitpoint pool, joint second-highest for a Tier 10 medium
- Decent camouflage
Cons:
- Significant aim time, gun handling and camouflage penalties while "turbo mode" is active
- Weak armor profile, very vulnerable to artillery splash damage
- The only Polish tank with "turbo mode", can take time to adjust to the new gimmick
- Quite sluggish when travelling outside "turbo mode"
- A master of none, does not have any outstanding features
Performance
The final tank in the Polish Medium line, the CS-63 boasts a unique gimmick to it - the ability to switch to turbo mode. With this gimmick active, the tank's top speed reaches an amazing 70km/h, on par with the German Leopard 1, while its engine power rises to above 28 hp/t, close to the French BatChat 25t. Long story short, the CS-63 can become one of the fastest Tier 10 medium tanks whenever the player wants.
This insane mobility comes at a cost however - your gun handling in turbo mode becomes absolutely terrible and your concealment drops drastically, making you not only a much easier target to see but also one that cannot easily fight back. The mechanic also works the same way as seige/travel mode on the Swedish TDs in that it takes a couple of seconds to switch the modes, so one must be extremely careful about exposing their tank for too long - you DO NOT have the camouflage a light tank does to pull off active spotting in the same capacity, nor do you have the small stature of a light tank - the CS-63 resembles the hull of a TVP 50/51, bulky and boxy. The best way to make use of the mobility is to rush into positions before the enemy team can react, or to flank to another section of the map rapidly and start putting your good DPM to use there. Light tank speeds do not make you a light tank when playing this vehicle.
The armour is very forgettable. On paper, the turret looks very strong, however the 260mm turret armour is only on the gun mantlet - everywhere else on the turret is easily penetrated even by Tier VIII guns. It may look rounded and bouncy, but much like the other high tier Polish mediums, the turret looks much stronger than it is. The hull can bounce off the upper plate when using the gun depression (auto bounce angle) but the lower plate is huge and easily hit, and the side armour can be overmatched by most high tier Tank Destroyer guns. Think of this tank like a Leopard 1 with a TVP hull - very fast, large, and easy to kill if not positioned well. The one advantage the CS-63 can pull is the decent hp pool - 2000 isn't the highest at Tier X, but it's better than average and can keep you alive where the armour won't.
The gun is fairly mediocre by Tier X medium standards - it'll do, but there are much better 105mm guns on the M48 Patton and Centurion AX, to name a couple. The RoF and gun handling are hardly better from the Tier IX tank, and whilst at Tier IX the DPM and penetration are impressive, at Tier X they are not. The Leopard 1 has similar mobility, but a punchier gun with much better gun handling that doesn't have to sacrifice any of it to go at 70kph. If the mobility of the CS-63 is used well, the gun will perform fine - the DPM is high enough to be very effective when flanking opponents, and the mobility is more than enough to escape before they can even react.
Overall, the CS-63 is a fairly balanced medium at Tier X. The entire tank is balanced around effective use of the turbo mode, to get the gun working properly and the tank out of harm's way. Learn to master the turbo mode, and the CS-63 is a fun tank to play, albeit not the most competitive.
Last thing to note: The CS-63 is often used in Global Map/ Clan Wars where its speed and wolfpacking abilities can be used to overwhelm certian positions. The turbo ability really comes into its own here as taking early positions in Global Map/CW greatly benefits teams that can harness its potential wisely. Most, if not all, competitive clans will call for CS-63s in a lineup, especially on good "rush" maps.
