|bio= Charles Bléry (1877-1956) was a French vice admiral, and he was promoted to that rank in 1936. His naval career started in 1895 when he was accepted into École Navale at 18 yeas old. After being promoted to the rank of officer, he served on a range of ships, including cruisers, destroyers, and gunboats. His next educational step was graduating from cannoneer school and becoming an artillery specialist. During World War 1, Charles Bléry participated in the Mediterranean action. In command of the newest French destroyers in the Adriatic Sea, he proved himself a talented artillery officers during operations in the Strait of Ontario.
 After the war, he served on battleship Bretagne and later became a professor of the Centre des Huates Études Navales in 1926, the institution preparing fleet officers for becoming admirals or taking other high posts in the chain of command. 1936 saw Bléry become the naval perfect of Bizerte, where he excelled in both administrative and diplomatic roles, including the internment of the Spanish Republican fleet. In 1937, he received due recognition from the French state when he was given the rank of Grand Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour.
