Solid objects like terrain elevations, rocks, houses, or other static objects on the map cannot be seen through and thus always provide 100% camouflage, i.e. you will not be spotted. But also half-transparent objects provide a bonus. As soon as you fire your gun, the camouflage bonus provided by transparent objects in a 15m radius around your tank is reduced to 30% of the original value. Objects furter away are unaffected.

Bushes and trees have been tested to add up to 0.64 additional camouflage, depending on the type of bush/tree. See the following table for some bushes and trees that have been tested in v0.7.1 (will need to be retested for 0.7.5 which allegedly brought some changes):

+;camoPattern: This is the camouflage bonus provided by a camouflage pattern permanently bought for gold or temporarily rented for credits via the "Exterior" window. If a camouflage pattern of the same type as the map you are playing on (summer, winter, desert) is applied, the coefficent is 1.05, i.e. you get a 5% bonus. See the Maps page for details on which category a map falls into. Since map selection in most game modes is random, for most of your tanks you'll have to buy a camouflage pattern for all three map types if you want to ensure you always get the bonus. However, as mentioned in the Map Restrictions section above, tier 1 tanks and some tier 2 tanks will currently never play on a Winter or Desert map in random battle mode.

?==== Purchasable Camouflage Patterns ====
?Paint jobs with camouflage patterns (textures, skins, etc.) can be purchased by pressing the service button for your currently selected vehicle. These camo patterns have 3 types corresponding to the different map types: Winter, Summer, and Desert. The camo pattern chosen for the tank will be used on the maps corresponding to that type. Besides looking cool, these skins will add a 5% bonus to the camouflage factor of the tank they are equipped on, which stacks with the Camouflage Net and the Camouflage skill. Camo patterns can be purchased either permanently for gold or temporarily for credits. If you want to get the 5% bonus on every map, you'll have to buy a camouflage pattern for all three map types. However, as mentioned in the Map Restrictions section above, tier 1 tanks and some tier 2 tanks will never play on a Winter or Desert map.

This page is to provide you with as many details as possible of the core game mechanics, so that you need not search through the forums for this valuable information. The details of some game mechanics are being held "close to the vest" over at Wargaming.net. To the maximum extent possible, we have provided all the data we know about game mechanics.
