In November 1944 the Krupp company presented several avant-projects aimed to upgrade armament of tanks and tank destroyers in service. Among them there was a project of mounting a Panther's Schmalturm (tight turret) on the Pz IV Ausf. J. The project was canceled due to phasing out the Pz IV production.

Player Opinion

Pros and Cons

Pros:

-Good hit point pool

-Excellent AP and APCR penetration

-Sideskirts which are useful against HE

-Decent mobility

-Strong turret

-Excellent DPM

-Great frontal gun depression

Cons:

-Somewhat sluggish turret traverse

-low alpha as compared to other tier 6 mediums

-Weak hull armour for tier

Performance

The PZIVS is a great sniper and has an accurate gun with good shell velocity and its high DPM means it can do a good job of permatracking tanks and the turret means it can go hull down reasonably well and as the game progresses it can brawl reasonably well, but don't rely on the alpha or HE as both are somewhat low. It also isn't a very good scout of front line medium due to the slower turret traverse and acceleration.
