Light Tanks

Light tanks are fast, mobile scouts which are used to detect enemies for friendly Artillery, or to destroy enemy Artillery.

Light tanks share some general characteristics. The heaviest Light tank weighs just under 22 tons, and no Light tank has more than 65 mm of armor plating. The fastest Light tanks can reach speeds of 72 km/h, and have mobility unparalleled except by the most maneuverable Medium tanks. Due to their low weight, Light tanks have little in the way of armor and do not generally carry much firepower, so they are not well designed to trade shots with a Medium or Heavy tank.

The great speed, mobility, and small size of the Light tank allows them to have a better probability of avoiding artillery fire, and can take advantage of gaps in the enemy's defenses to locate and destroy enemy Artillery. If a Light tank flanks an enemy Tank Destroyer, it can use its mobility to keep out of the Tank Destroyer's firing angle while destroying the helpless vehicle. However, Medium tanks will have the firepower, mobility, and armor to easily destroy Light tanks. Heavy tanks will generally have enough armor to ignore Light tanks for the most part, so coordination with friendly Artillery is required for Light tanks to engage these enemy vehicles. The rule of W.o.T. is to keep moving. Nowhere is this more important, than in light tanks. You have little armour, small guns and will be killed instantly by artillery. So don't stop moving (listen to the music!sorry, S-club 7 reference) and stay away from major battles.

Now, before you go and smash your Computer to peices because you just bought a high level Light tank and now realise that it can't get involved in the big battles. Remember that they CAN get involved. In their own way. First off, they can kill off any enemy light tanks that are trying to flank your teams main force, and vicea verca. Seccondly, they can act as suppressing fire and support unit's by using a multi-shot weapon (generaly five shot burst). And they can scout out enemy groups too.

Light tanks are the first class you will play as. And many player's take them up to much higher levels. The first three tanks are always free. So you always have a light tank avalible.

On visual or on the mini-map, Light tanks appear as solid green or red rhombuses.
