''Algérie'' is one of the strongest Tier VII cruisers yet available for research. Possessing superb range, ''Algérie'' is best played as a second line ship, lending fire support from behind friendly battleships. ''Algérie'' has strong armor, range-performant AP, and good HE with an average fire chance. Players should look to use range to increase their ability to evade incoming fire, and the Engine Boost consumable allows for re-positioning opportunities at a whim. | ''Algérie'' is one of the strongest Tier VII cruisers yet available for research. Because ''Algérie'' is so reliant on range for protection, players will find the increased maneuverability provided by the "B" hull to be helpful in survival, especially when bottom tier. Algérie — French Tier VII cruiser.
After the construction of two series of Duquesne- and Suffren-class cruisers, built under the restrictions of the Washington Naval Treaty, the task given to designers was to develop a ship with enhanced armor that could withstand 155 mm shells at a distance of up to 15 km (horizontal) and 20 km (vertical). The cruiser differed from her predecessors by her shorter and wider flush-deck hull, and her propulsion was implemented according to a linear scheme. At the beginning of World War II, Algérie participated in patrol and escort missions, including escorting ships with gold.

Optimal Configuration
Upgrades
Algérie has access to slots 1, 2, 4, and 5. The following are recommended.
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1 The main batteries of Algérie are her primary tools.
- Slot 2: Aiming Systems Modification 1 Algérie has poor AA and little use for secondaries.
- Slot 4: Steering Gears Modification 1 All French cruisers from Tier III-IX have a vulnerable steering section.
- Slot 5: Steering Gears Modification 2 This brings maneuverability into a "sweet spot" where Algerie becomes very difficult to hit at range.
Commander Skills
The following will serve well for most French cruisers, with special mention to Last Stand as a near-required universal skill for the line.

Consumables
Priority for selection of premium consumables should be as follows: Damage Control Party II, Engine Boost II, Catapult Fighter II, and last, either Defensive Fire II or Hydroacoustic Search II.
Camouflage
Algérie has no special camouflage beyond her available Type 17 Camouflage at this time. It provides the following benefits: -5% to post-battle service, +4% to the dispersion of ships firing at the player, -3% to the concealment of the ship, and +50% XP earned in battle.
