The developers have done an excellent job balancing the tier disparity through fast plane restoration time, large squadron and attack element sizes. The slow speed of aircraft and the fast plane restoration time make it possible to continuously fly torpedo and dive bomber squadrons throughout a match for maximum damage potential. This leaves the fighters in reserve for late game threats to the carrier itself. The CV player moving up from tier IV will find the planes of the Ark Royal familiar and should ease the transition to tier VI play. With experience, the Ark Royal can perform competitively against tier VIII ships.

?Among tier 6 aircraft carriers, her aircraft are the slowest and weakest, but makes up for it by having one of the largest sized squadrons at tier 6 (equal to Ranger's dive bomber squadron).
?
?Her main damage potential comes from her torpedo bomber squadrons. While her torpedoes are similar to those used by her tech tree counterpart Furious, she drops 3 in one attack run instead of the conventional 2 as all other tier 6 aircraft carriers do, giving her one of the highest burst damage potential of all tier 6 aircraft carriers (slightly better than Ryujo's torpedoe bombers).
?Like the Furious, they converge much more than either Ryujo's or Ranger's, and while they do not have high speeds, they have a much reduced arming distance which allows the torpedoes to be dropped much closer to the target.
?
?Her carpet bombers, whilst having much smaller bombs compared to Furious, are drops much more bombs over a smaller area, which makes them much easier to land hits with. However, the bombs only have 19 mm of penetration, which would limit your targets to mostly destroyers and some light cruisers. Although trying to land hits on the superstructure of more armoured targets isn't a completely wrong tactic, that should only be a last resort.
?
?Her rocket aircraft isn't all that spectacular, having rockets that are similar to Furious in terms of rocket speed, but lacking damage and rockets per salvo. They're also slow in terms of rocket aircraft, being at least much slower than other nation rocket aircraft.
?
?Her aircraft restoration time is the best among tier 6 carriers, and her space on deck is pretty large as well, whidh means she doesn't take losses as seriously as her tech tree counterparts
?
?All in all, if you have played Kaga during her RTS days, she should feel similar in terms of playstyle. Go for targets that are relatively alone and lacking in terms of AA defenses. Her planes are slow so you will have to plan your route ahead to avoid wasting time flying from one end of the map to the other, or ending up in more AA than you would want.

Special

Ark Royal — British special premium Tier VI aircraft сarrier.

The new aircraft carrier was to combine all the innovations: a double-level hangar, steam catapults built into the deck, heavy armor, and multipurpose guns. The armor of the hangar and the flight deck had to be sacrificed to stay within the displacement limits. In May 1941, a torpedo bomber from Ark Royal managed to hit Bismarck, which played its role in the sinking of the battleship. On November 13, Ark Royal was hit by a torpedo. After a long struggle for survivability, it was ordered to abandon the ship, and the aircraft carrier capsized and disappeared underwater.
