''Belfast'' is just like her tech tree cousins in that she is relatively weakly armored, and will greatly prefer finding island cover where possible while making judicious use of her smoke screen. Used well, she can serve as a measure of area control over capture zones and critical areas, pushing enemy destroyers away; those that choose to wander too close won't live long enough to regret their mistake. Given enough time, the volume of fire from her main battery can lay low even the largest battleships. Unfortunately, as soon as she comes under heavy enemy fire, ''Belfast'' is in trouble. Special

Belfast — British special premium Tier VII cruiser.

An Edinburgh-class light cruiser, one of the most powerful among same-type ships in the Royal Navy during World War II. Underwent several major upgrades. Instead of AA and torpedo armament, the ship received improved anti-torpedo protection and an enhanced surveillance radar.

HMS Belfast is now preserved as a military museum ship in London, England. She was first released for sale on 21 October 2016 on the EU servers and on 4 November 2016 on the NA servers. She since has been permanently removed from sale.

Player Opinion

Performance

Belfast is a Tier VII premium British light cruiser of the same class as the tech tree Tier VIII Edinburgh, but carries no torpedoes. Instead, she has explosive (HE) rounds available and mounts Smoke GeneratorWhile active, generates a smoke screen that blocks line-of-sight for both enemies and teammates., Hydroacoustic SearchWhile active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain., and Surveillance RadarWhile active, detects all enemy ships within the specified radius, disregarding obstacles such as smoke and terrain. consumables simultaneously.

This trifecta of consumables together with the ability to mount an upgrade, usually Concealment System Modification 1: -10% to detectability radius. / +5% to the dispersion of enemy shells fired at your ship., in Slot 5 — a slot normally reserved for Tier VIII+ ships — makes her a fearsome destroyer hunter. Her shell arcs are fairly high, making hitting fast moving targets at range difficult, but she can also shoot over low islands in a similar play style to American destroyers and fellow Tier VII premium cruiser Atlanta.

Belfast is just like her tech tree cousins in that she is relatively weakly armored, and will greatly prefer finding island cover where possible while making judicious use of her smoke screen. Used well, she can serve as a measure of area control over capture zones and critical areas, pushing enemy destroyers away; those that choose to wander too close won't live long enough to regret their mistake. Given enough time, the volume of fire from her main battery can lay low even the largest battleships. Unfortunately, as soon as she comes under heavy enemy fire, Belfast is in trouble. Her best defenses are to stay moving and be visible as little as possible.

Pros:

  • She has access to HE shells, which makes her more versatile compared to other British cruisers.
  • Decent range and turret traverse speeds.
  • Great acceleration.
  • Able to simultaneously mount the Smoke GeneratorWhile active, generates a smoke screen that blocks line-of-sight for both enemies and teammates., Surveillance RadarWhile active, detects all enemy ships within the specified radius, disregarding obstacles such as smoke and terrain., and Hydroacoustic SearchWhile active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain. consumables.
  • Can mount the Concealment upgrade which, together with the Concealment skill, drops her detectability to 8.9 km.

Cons:

  • Mediocre armor, as befitting a light cruiser. She can weather incoming 203mm rounds, but anything larger than that is going to cause havoc.
  • Poor shell ballistics at longer ranges.
  • Lacks the torpedoes that her tech tree counterparts have.
  • Somewhat lackluster as a commander trainer. Commanders specialized for Belfast are likely to have skills that don't translate well to other British cruisers.

Research

As a premium ship, Belfast doesn't have any upgrades to research.

Optimal Configuration

With so much utility in her consumables, an AA build is not warranted.

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades are:

Upgrade Slot 2 offers the ability to mount special upgrades Hydroacoustic Search Modification 1 Increases the action time of the Hydroacoustic Search and Short-Range Hydroacoustic Search consumables.: +20% action time. or Surveillance Radar Modification 1 : +20% action time.. The Hydro buff is generally preferred. If Engine Room Protection : -20% to the risk of incapacitation. / -20% to repair time. is not selected, be sure to favor a commander with the 'Last Stand' skill.

Upgrade Slot 3 while Aiming Systems Modification 1 : -7% main battery dispersion. / +20% torpedo tubes traverse speed. / +5% secondary battery firing range. / -5% secondary battery dispersion. is the straightforward choice, Smoke Generator Modification 1 Increases the action time of the Smoke Generator, Short-Burst Smoke Generator, Crawling Smoke Generator, Exhaust Smoke Generator, and Smoke Curtain Generator consumables.: +20% smoke screen emission time. special upgrade together with the 'Enhanced Consumables' skill buffs Belfast’s smoke from 15 sec action time / 103 sec dispersion to 21.5 / 98 sec, or 24.7 / 98 sec with the X-Ray Papa Unaone signal. Or Main Battery Modification 2 : +15% to main battery traverse speed. can speed the rather pokey 25.7 sec 180° turret rotation time up to 22.4 sec, or 19.4 sec with the 'Grease the Gears' skill.

Commander Skills

Given Belfast’s unique access to three different affected consumables, 'Consumables Enhancement' and 'Superintendent' are highly recommended. If Engine Room Protection : -20% to the risk of incapacitation. / -20% to repair time. upgrade is not taken, then 'Last Stand' is highly advisable. IFHE is also effective on Belfast.
Best first ten points: Last Stand, Consumables Enhancements, Superintendent, Concealment Expert.

Consumables

Belfast equips the following consumables:

Belfast differs from her Tier VIII sister Edinburgh in that she has an additional consumable slot dedicated to Surveillance RadarWhile active, detects all enemy ships within the specified radius, disregarding obstacles such as smoke and terrain.; thus, she is not forced to choose between Smoke Generator and Surveillance Radar and can equip both. However, she does not have access to Repair Party as Edinburgh does.

Camouflage

As a premium ship, Belfast comes with Type 10 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, and increases the amount of experience she earns.

Signals

As a premium ship with three highly useful consumables, it is best to mount November Foxtrot (-5% reload time on all consumables.) for faster cooldowns. Additionally, captains can mount Zulu Hotel (🚫) for faster captain (re)training and Zulu (🚫) or Wyvern (🚫) for more credit earning.

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
