Once launched, the fighter group orbits the ship at a radius of 3 km and automatically intercepts nearby enemy planes. By itself it is fairly effective at shooting some down. However, shipboard AA defenses, particularly when bolstered by Defensive AA Fire , and a fighter group can wreak havoc. When not engaged, the fighter group may detect concealed enemy ships that come within its visual range. See the Aircraft article for more information.
