Champagne — French special premium Tier VIII battleship.

A battleship design close to that of the Gascogne class. Her triple turrets and the 406 mm guns mounted in them were developed in France in the second half of the 1930s.

Champagne was sold for two weeks beginning 26 June 2020. She appeared again for one week on 9 October 2020.

Performance

Appearing and disappearing as she does, Champagne may be a ghost ship.

Pros:

  • Faster than average main battery reload speed for a battleship
  • Quick main battery traverse speed
  • Outstanding AP shell penetration and excellent shell velocity
  • Very good fire chance with HE shells
  • Very good main battery range and accuracy, low dispersion and high sigma
  • Heavy secondary armament with good base range
  • Very high speed of 34 knots
  • Access to the Engine Boost While active, increases a ship's speed by a fixed percentage. consumable

Cons:

  • Only six rifles in two triple turrets, low DPM
  • Smallest hitpoint pool of all Tier 8 battleships
  • Weakest armor profile among Tier 8 battleships
  • Very poor AA suite, very vulnerable to planes
  • Has one less Repair Party While active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. charge compared to standard battleships (four maximum)
  • Heavily reliant on precise aiming at range to make the most of its guns
  • Champagne is too fragile to brawl effectively, limiting its secondary armament's usefulness

Testing Changes

  • Mar 10, 2020:
    • Preliminary characteristics.
  • DevBlog 16:
    • Maximum AP shell damage decreased from 13,200 to 12,100.
    • HE and AP shell ballistics were changed: shells will now take a bit longer to reach their target when fired at any distance.
    • AP shell armor penetration decreased.
    • Repair Party consumable charges decreased from 4 to 3.
  • DevBlog 23:
    • AP shell penetration increased to the previous value.
    • Hitpoints decreased from 60,900 to 52,600.
    • Main battery reload time increased from 26 to 28.6 s.
  • Update 0.9.5:
    • Added for sale in the Premium shop. After two weeks it disappeared from the store. It would resurface in October 2020 for a single week before once again vanishing.
  • Update 0.10.0:
    • The firing range of the secondary battery was increased to 7.6 km.
  • Update 0.11.7:
    • Minor fixes to the model and textures of the ship.

    • HP amount increased from 52,600 to 60,900.
