Player Opinion

Pros:

  • Like St. Louis, Charleston has the most health of any tier 3 Cruiser.
  • A large arsenal of 14 152mm main guns combined with 18 76mm secondary guns.
  • Small turning circle of only 450 meters.

Cons:

    Optimal Configuration

    Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Charleston are as follows:

Slot 1 provides two worthwhile upgrade options. Main Armaments Modification 1 (-20% to the risk of main battery becoming incapacitated. / +50% to main battery survivability. / -20% to main battery repair time. / -20% to the risk of torpedo tubes becoming incapacitated. / +50% to torpedo tubes survivability. / -20% to torpedo tubes repair time.) is generally advised to improve the survivability of the guns. Some players may choose to mount Magazine Modification 1 (Reduces the risk of magazine detonation: -70% risk.) to reduce the chance of a magazine detonation occurring.

    Signals

Charleston captains should mount standard signal flags to improve the ship's performance in battle. Sierra Mike (+5% to the ship's maximum speed.) flags are highly recommended to increase the ship's top speed. India X-Ray (+1% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber above 160mm. / +0.5% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber below 160mm. / +5% to the risk of your ship's magazine detonating.) and Victor Lima (+1% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber above 160mm / +0.5% chance of causing a fire for bombs and shells with a caliber below 160mm. / +4% chance of causing flooding.) flags can be mounted to improve the main battery's fire chance. November Foxtrot (-5% reload time on all consumables.) and India Yankee (-20% to fire duration.) flags can also be mounted to improve the ship's survivability. Lastly, economic and special signal flags can be mounted to increase the ship's economic gains per battle.
