Captains will notice many similarities between ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' and her tier 7 sister ship, ''[[Haida]]'' and with that, her performance is very similar and she shares many of the same strength and weaknesses as her sister. The most apparent difference between the two ships being, the number of rifles, with ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' bringing an extra 2 guns to the fight.
?PERFORMANCE SECTION GUIDELINES+
?1. Write a brief intro paragraph of 1-3 sentences.+The guns on ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' are plentiful in number, providing the ship with excellent firepower, although captains of this ship are reminded that you must show excessive amounts of broadside to bring all four turrets into the fight. However, when ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' does manage to get all her guns firing, she boasts an impressively high dmage per miunute with her HE shells which is coupled with a high base fire chance of 8%. This presents ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' with almost unrivaled gun power for her tier, capable of quickly dispatching of destroyers that get caught out by ''{{#var:ship_name}}’s'' good concealment.
?2. Write 1-3 paragraphs of "meat". Talk about what the ship does well, what it doesn't, how it compares to same tier ships of the same type, how it compares to the previous ship in the tech tree, whatever. Try to avoid quoting vital statistics to players unless it is really relevant (i.e. concealment); they can see those in the sidebar on the right and don't need them read back. +
?3. Write a brief summary paragraph of 1-3 sentences highlighting the key takeaways from the paragraphs above.+Her {{Smoke Generator}} provides her with a quick smoke screen which will allow her to bring her guns into play before she repositions before she is forced to move on by the relatively short duration of her smoke. This does, however, promote her smokescreens usage for defensive play, able to deploy it to quickly break line of sight with perusing enemy ships. Captains of ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' will find that because of the relatively short smoke duration, they are forced to often reposition but her excellent concealment blends well with this.
?-->+
+''{{#var:ship_name}}'' also gains access to a {{Hydroacoustic Search}}; however, she trades most of its offensive usability for defensive flexibility. Despite being very short ranged (Only 3km), it provides plenty of forewarning about hostile torpedoes. The long duration of this consumable helps to ensure you’re almost never caught out by hostile torpedoes, able to keep yourself safe during prolonged confrontations. Captains may also opt to use her Hydro in a more aggressive manner, pushing into the smokes laid by hostile ships to force them to disperse the smoke. However, the Hydroacoustic Search is less than ideal for this task as it falls short on spotting range when compared to that of other destroyers at her tier, like ''[[Z-23]]''.
 +
+''{{#var:ship_name}}’s'' excellent concealment is another key strength which allows her to deal with enemy destroyers. Her concealment provides her with a buffer zone against other destroyers, allowing ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' to evade ships which outgun her while out gunning ships which out spot her.
 +
+Things are not all smooth sailing for ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' though, and she has a few glaring weaknesses. Her foremost issue is her torpedoes which although good, are lacking in number with only a single quad launcher. On top of this, the restrictive gun angles of her Primary Armament can also limit the true effectiveness of her main battery during close quarter duels. This, when combined with her relatively small health pool can make close quarter duals a somewhat risky business. And finally her anti-aircraft defenses are inadequate even for self-defense, so Captains should fall back to their team for defense against enemy air attacks.
 +
+Captains of ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' will find the most success using her concealment to sneak upon unsuspecting destroyers and from here pushing into a knife fight to secure the kill. This will allow her to ensure her guns land as many hits as possible, using a mix of her single launch torpedoes and high DPM main battery.
+Careful and calculated usage of her Smoke Screen will allow captains to effectively fight or flee from any enemy ships will allow ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' to best perform her role as a defensive scout, providing spotting for the team and probing around caps while remaining close to friendly ships to deter attacks from hostile destroyers.

Player Opinion

Performance

Cossack is a comfortable blend of firepower and concealment. Captains will notice many similarities between Cossack and her tier 7 sister ship, Haida and with that, her performance is very similar and she shares many of the same strength and weaknesses as her sister. The most apparent difference between the two ships being, the number of rifles, with Cossack bringing an extra 2 guns to the fight.

The guns on Cossack are plentiful in number, providing the ship with excellent firepower, although captains of this ship are reminded that you must show excessive amounts of broadside to bring all four turrets into the fight. However, when Cossack does manage to get all her guns firing, she boasts an impressively high dmage per miunute with her HE shells which is coupled with a high base fire chance of 8%. This presents Cossack with almost unrivaled gun power for her tier, capable of quickly dispatching of destroyers that get caught out by Cossack’s good concealment.

Her Smoke Generator (While active, generates a smoke screen that blocks line-of-sight for both enemies and teammates.) provides her with a quick smoke screen which will allow her to bring her guns into play before she repositions before she is forced to move on by the relatively short duration of her smoke. This does, however, promote her smokescreens usage for defensive play, able to deploy it to quickly break line of sight with perusing enemy ships. Captains of Cossack will find that because of the relatively short smoke duration, they are forced to often reposition but her excellent concealment blends well with this.

Cossack also gains access to a Hydroacoustic Search (While active, detects all enemy ships and torpedoes within the specified radius, without regard of obstacles such as smoke and terrain.); however, she trades most of its offensive usability for defensive flexibility. However, the Hydroacoustic Search is less than ideal for this task as it falls short on spotting range when compared to that of other destroyers at her tier, like Z-23.

    Cons:

      Research

As a premium ship, Cossack doesn't have any upgrades to research.

      Optimal Configuration

      Upgrades

As a tier VII Destroyer, Cossack gets significant benefits from some upgrades. As a ship that makes use of not being seen, Concealment System Modification 1 (Reduces the detectability range of the ship and aircraft carrier's squadrons: -10% to detectability radius. / +5% to the dispersion of enemy shells fired at your ship.) is vital. Players who wish to avoid detonations without running the appropriate flag may want to use Magazine Modification 1 (Reduces the risk of magazine detonation: -70% risk.), and those who use the flag will get use out of Main Armaments Modification 1 (-20% to the risk of main battery becoming incapacitated. / +50% to main battery survivability. / -20% to main battery repair time. / -20% to the risk of torpedo tubes becoming incapacitated. / +50% to torpedo tubes survivability. / -20% to torpedo tubes repair time.). Propulsion Modification 1 (Reduces time to full speed: -50% to time for reaching full power. / Increases engine power when the ship starts moving.) or Steering Gears Modification 1 (Reduces rudder shift time: -20% rudder shift time.) are both good choices depending upon which ailment the player wants more protection from. Aiming Systems Modification 1 (Increases the firing accuracy of the main battery and secondary battery, accelerates the traverse speed of torpedo tubes, and extends the firing range of the secondary battery: -7% main battery dispersion. / +20% torpedo tubes traverse speed. / +5% secondary battery firing range. / -5% secondary battery dispersion.) is useful in the third slot for the increased torpedo tube traverse rate and decreased dispersion. Propulsion Modification 1 (Reduces time to full speed: -50% to time for reaching full power. / Increases engine power when the ship starts moving.) is especially useful for destroyers who need to change speed quickly.
