?+Signals are small flag-like pennants, displayed individually or as a set, that nominally are used to communicate to other ships. In game, they confer combat or economic bonuses to the ship flying them. A maximum of eight (8) combat signals can be flown simultaneously. With Update 0.9.3 an unlimited number of economic and special signals (one each) can be mounted.
?At Account Level 9, captains unlock the ability to fly signals on their ship that grant small bonuses to gameplay. In order to equip signals, click the "Exterior" tab under the BATTLE! button in the top center of the screen, then select "SIGNALS" from the menu at left. This will display a list of available flags with quantities of each. Click on the desired signal, then press the "Mount" button. You can also choose to auto-resupply your signals, so that after each battle, another signal is automatically mounted on your ship. If you do not select this option, your ship will have no signals mounted when you return to port after your next battle.+

?A maximum of eight (8) signals can be flown simultaneously on battleships, cruisers and destroyers; aircraft carriers are limited to four (4) signals in a match. Signals are primarily earned through a variety of in-game achievements — or purchased from the Premium Shop — and have varying effects per the table below. They can also be earned via the Container system. When earning signals via achievements, captains typically earn ten (10) signals once per twenty-four hour period per achievement. This twenty-four hour period resets at the same time the daily win bonus resets. One notable exception is the "Zulu" flag which awards one (1) signal per achievement.+Signals are consumed after use. They can be obtained as follows:

?For example: the first time each day that a captain earned the "Confederate" achievement, they would be awarded 10 "Zulu Hotel" flags. Additional "Confederate" achievements within the 24 hour window would not award additional flags. +* Each Random/Ranked Battle in-game achievement (except Devastating Strike) grants combat or economic signals once per 24-hour period. (For example: the first time each day that a captain earns the "Confederate" achievement, he is awarded x10 "Zulu Hotel" signals. A second "Confederate" within the same 24 hour window would yield no signals.) When you earn an achievement n times in a single battle and receive signals for it, you get 10 × n signals of the same type, except that you only get one "Zulu" signal for "First Blood".
+* Combat and Economic Signals can be purchased in the Armory for CoalCoal.
+* Combat Signals can be purchased in the Armory for CreditsCredits.
+* Economic Signals can be purchased at the time of mounting for in-game currencyDoubloons if Auto-Resupply is enabled.
+* Some signals (currently Economic Signal bundles) may be purchased from the Premium Shop (depending on server).
+* Containers, especially Signals & Camouflage containers, hold signals.
+* Campaigns, challenges, and combat missions often reward signals.
+* Playing one battle in a Public Test usually will grant 3 of every non-special signal. Additional Public Test missions may give Special Signals. (Check the rules for the particular Public Test.)
+* Special Signals can be obtained only through containers, events, or missions, or occasionally in large premium ship bundles.
 +<br>
+Signals can be sold from Inventory for credits, though this is generally not worthwhile, especially for Economic and Special signals.

?+In order to equip signals, click the "Exterior" tab under the BATTLE! button in the top center of the port screen, then select "SIGNALS" from the menu at left. ?|-+In addition to manually mounting them, you can choose to Auto-Resupply your signals so that after battle, replacement signals are automatically mounted. The option to Enable / Disable this feature appears below the list of signals. It is Disabled by default. If you do not Enable this option, the ship will have no signals mounted after it returns to port from battle.

 == Flags == == Flags ==
?Flags differ from Signals in a couple of key ways. For starters, players are limited to displaying one (1) flag on their ship at a time. Additionally, flags do not have a limited number of charges; once awarded, players can equip that flag over and over again without losing it. Flags that have an effect are quite rare; Signals all serve a function of some kind, but Flags are largely cosmetic.+=== National Flags ===
+Each ship in the tech tree of a single nation flies the national flag or naval ensign of that nation.
+Ships from tech trees that cover multiple nations — such as Commonwealth, Pan-Asia or Europe — can choose to fly either the "national" flag shown in the tech tree, or the ensign of the nation they actually represent.
 +
 +=== Non-national Flags ===
+Beginning at Account Level 14 captains may elect to hoist a non-national flag alongside the ship's national flag. These flags may be obtained from a variety of sources: from in-game events, to special flags available in certain ship bundles in the store, to contests or events on the regional forums.

+Flags differ from Signals in key ways.
+* Signals are functional where flags are cosmetic. (The few flags that affect rewards are rare and generally unavailable.)
+* A player is limited to displaying one (1) non-national flag on each ship. (The ability to display two (2) may be earned through some Collections.)
+* A flag is not consumed when displayed; it stays hoisted until the captain orders it hauled down.
+* The same flag may be displayed on more than one ship at a time.

At Account Level 4, captains unlock the ability to fly signals on their ships that grant small bonuses to gameplay and rewards.

On achieving Account Level 14, captains can display non-national flags.

Signals

Signals are small flag-like pennants, displayed individually or as a set, that nominally are used to communicate to other ships. In game, they confer combat or economic bonuses to the ship flying them. A maximum of eight (8) combat signals can be flown simultaneously. With Update 0.9.3 an unlimited number of economic and special signals (one each) can be mounted.

Signals are consumed after use. They can be obtained as follows:

 • Each Random/Ranked Battle in-game achievement (except Devastating Strike) grants combat or economic signals once per 24-hour period. (For example: the first time each day that a captain earns the "Confederate" achievement, he is awarded x10 "Zulu Hotel" 🚫 signals. A second "Confederate" within the same 24 hour window would yield no signals.) When you earn an achievement n times in a single battle and receive signals for it, you get 10 × n signals of the same type, except that you only get one "Zulu" signal for "First Blood".
 • Combat and Economic Signals can be purchased in the Armory for CoalCoal.
 • Combat Signals can be purchased in the Armory for CreditsCredits.
 • Economic Signals can be purchased at the time of mounting for in-game currencyDoubloons if Auto-Resupply is enabled.
 • Some signals (currently Economic Signal bundles) may be purchased from the Premium Shop (depending on server).
 • Containers, especially Signals & Camouflage containers, hold signals.
 • Campaigns, challenges, and combat missions often reward signals.
 • Playing one battle in a Public Test usually will grant 3 of every non-special signal. Additional Public Test missions may give Special Signals. (Check the rules for the particular Public Test.)
 • Special Signals can be obtained only through containers, events, or missions, or occasionally in large premium ship bundles.

Signals can be sold from Inventory for credits, though this is generally not worthwhile, especially for Economic and Special signals.

In order to equip signals, click the "Exterior" tab under the BATTLE! button in the top center of the port screen, then select "SIGNALS" from the menu at left. This will display a list of available signals with quantities of each. Click on the desired signal, then press the "Mount" button. Demount a signal in the same way.

Auto-Resupply

In addition to manually mounting them, you can choose to Auto-Resupply your signals so that after battle, replacement signals are automatically mounted. The option to Enable / Disable this feature appears below the list of signals. It is Disabled by default. If you do not Enable this option, the ship will have no signals mounted after it returns to port from battle.

Auto-Resupplied Economic signals can be purchased automatically (if there are none remaining to mount) for doubloonsDoubloons. When Auto-Resupply is enabled, a check-box will appear below the Auto-Resupply option to enable purchase. It is enabled by default.

Flags

National Flags

Each ship in the tech tree of a single nation flies the national flag or naval ensign of that nation. Ships from tech trees that cover multiple nations — such as Commonwealth, Pan-Asia or Europe — can choose to fly either the "national" flag shown in the tech tree, or the ensign of the nation they actually represent.

Non-national Flags

Beginning at Account Level 14 captains may elect to hoist a non-national flag alongside the ship's national flag. These flags may be obtained from a variety of sources: from in-game events, to special flags available in certain ship bundles in the store, to contests or events on the regional forums.

Flags differ from Signals in key ways.

 • Signals are functional where flags are cosmetic. (The few flags that affect rewards are rare and generally unavailable.)
 • A player is limited to displaying one (1) non-national flag on each ship. (The ability to display two (2) may be earned through some Collections.)
 • A flag is not consumed when displayed; it stays hoisted until the captain orders it hauled down.
 • The same flag may be displayed on more than one ship at a time.
