Her guns will feel vaguely familiar to players accustomed to ''Farragut''. While her firing range is significantly shorter than that of her US Navy counterpart, ''Gallant''’s reload time, turret traverse time, and shell arcs are comparable. As 1941 began, ''Gallant'' remained with ''Illustrious'', ''Warspite'' and ''Valiant'' as a part of Force H in the eastern Mediterranean. Her sister-ship HMS ''Griffin'' rescued the survivors, while destroyer HMS ''Mohawk'' towed her stern-first to Malta. However, her hulk was heavily damaged in an air raid on Malta in April 1942, and she had to be beached to prevent sinking. She was judged a total loss shortly after; all usable equipment was stripped off, and her hulk later expended as a blockship at St Paul’s Island in September 1943. Gallant — British special premium Tier VI destroyer.
One of the U.K. G-class destroyers of the inter-war period. The ship participated in the Dunkirk evacuation when she rescued Allied troops from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk. In total, she evacuated around 1,500 soldiers. On 29 May 1940, she was damaged during a raid from German dive bombers, but still made it back to England under her own power.
Gallant first went on sale on the NA server on 19 July 2017, and on the EU server on 20 July 2017.

Player Opinion
Performance
Released with Update 0.6.8 and the Operation Dynamo scenario, HMS Gallant marks the second entry of Royal Navy destroyers into World of Warships. Gallant is something of a mix of existing destroyer styles, packing torpedoes that will remind players of those found on Japanese destroyers married with main battery guns that are analogous to those of the American destroyer line.
Gallant’s torpedoes are identical to those deployed aboard Tier VI British cruiser Leander and pack a nasty punch for the tier, topping out at over 15,000 alpha damage. She carries them in a pair of quadruple-tube, centerline-mounted launchers — just like American counterpart Farragut — with a speed and range similar to the fish found deployed aboard Shinonome and Ernst Gaede. What makes Gallant unique is that she retains the ability of British cruisers to launch her torpedoes singly. This greatly increases her tactical flexibility, allowing her to spread her torpedo salvos around in a variety of different directions and angles and wreak havoc on enemy formations. The trade-off for this flexibility is the longest torpedo reload of all Tier VI destroyers and some of the worst torpedo firing angles of any destroyer in the game; the farthest forward that Gallant can rotate her torpedo launchers is nearly 60 degrees off the bow, for example.
Her guns will feel vaguely familiar to players accustomed to Farragut. While her firing range is significantly shorter than that of her US Navy counterpart, Gallant’s reload time, turret traverse time, and shell arcs are comparable. Gallant acquits herself well in close-range combat — especially if captains equip Main Battery Modification 2 — or as an extreme nuisance to enemy capital ships with the higher-than-average (for Tier VI, anyway) fire chance on her high explosive rounds. She's more than capable of defeating any of the Tier VI Japanese destroyers or Farragut in a straight up gunfight, but her low health pool will work against her when up against Ernst Gaede or Gnevny. Unless they're badly wounded, courting a gun duel with either of the latter is inadvisable.
Packing the same standard consumables available to most other Tier VI destroyers — Engine Boost and Smoke Generator — Gallant is a well-rounded destroyer whose primary play style is likely to be focused around her torpedo armament, but who is capable of flexing her main battery guns in the mid- and late-game to finish off opposing destroyers that have survived to that point.
Pros:
- Best turning radius of Tier VI destroyers (540 meters).
- Second best detection range, only being worse than Hatsuharu.
- Torpedoes are hard hitting, while being relatively fast and having good concealment.
- Can single fire said torpedoes, just like British cruisers.
- High fire chance with HE shells.
Cons:
- Torpedoes reload slowly, at 96 seconds.
- HE shells lose much of their velocity at range.
- Low amount of health — only 12,000 hit points — puts her near the bottom of Tier VI destroyers.
- Poor torpedo firing arcs.
- Short main battery range.
- Anti-aircraft armament does a pathetic 4.2 damage per second, at a paltry 1.2 km range.

Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Gallant are as follows:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1
- Slot 2: Propulsion Modification 1 *
- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1
- Slot 4: Propulsion Modification 1 ()
Upgrade Slot 2 provides access to Engine Boost Modification 1 , a special upgrade which increases the duration of the Engine Boost consumable by 50%. This upgrade is a viable alternative to Propulsion Modification 1 because the additional speed provides Gallant with more ability to reposition and maneuver around enemy ships while maintaining enough distance to remain undetected.

Consumables
Gallant can equip the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Smoke Generator
- Slot 3: Engine Boost
Although Gallant has mediocre firepower in terms of both torpedoes and main batteries, depending on the player's playstyle of preference, Smoke Generator is more useful for passive players looking to stealthily deal damage to unaware and/or unobservant enemy ships, while Engine Boost is more useful for players looking to fight other enemy destroyers. Players that play a mix of using all possible main armaments are left to their discretion of mounting premium consumables.
Aggressive players are recommended to mount premium Damage Control Party II () for repairing damaged modules (such as the engine or rudder) and premium Engine Boost II () for better evasion. Aggressive players that can utilize both Smoke Generator and Engine Boost to their advantage in gun fights with other destroyers are recommended to mount the premium versions.
Camouflage
As a premium ship, Gallant comes included with Type 10 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, and increases the amount of experience she earns.
Signals
Gallant is able to mount eight signal flags simultaneously. Captains should mount India X-Ray () and Victor Lima () flags to further increase the ship’s already high fire chance. Juliet Charlie () flags can be equipped to mitigate the increased detonation chance applied when using India X-Ray flags. Sierra Mike () flags are also highly recommended to increase the ship’s top speed. Lastly, economic and special flags may be used in combination with the ship’s premium benefits to increase the amount of experience or credits earned per battle.
