Hakuryū — Japanese Tier X aircraft сarrier.
An aircraft carrier designed to be an enlarged and enhanced version of the Taiho class. Hakuryu was superior to her predecessor in size, armor and artillery power. Owing to an increased hangar, she could carry the largest air group among all Japanese aircraft carriers.

Player Opinion
Pros:
- Highest ship speed among Tier 10 aircraft carriers, Hakuryu can relocate fairly quickly when needed
- Armored flight deck, thick enough to prevent overmatch from even the largest caliber battleship guns
- Reasonably good plane speed
- Torpedo bombers are stealthy, with a stock 7.5km detection radius
- Improved rocket damage, fire chance and penetration compared to preceding carrier Shokaku
- Highest per-fish torpedo damage and flood chance, and second highest torpedo speed, among Tier 10 aircraft carriers
- Good AP bombs, effective against almost all cruisers and battleships
- Hakuryu's long range AA defenses are very powerful
Cons:
- Second worst plane durability in tier/class, after Manfred von Richthofen
- Very weak hull armor and lowest hitpoint pool in tier/class
- Attack aircraft rockets do not have enough penetration to directly damage battleship common plating (though they can easily chip at BB superstructures)
- Torpedo bombers drop only two torpedoes per attack run
- AP bombs have inconsistent accuracy, and are essentially useless against destroyers
- Both torpedo bombers and dive bombers fly in large squadrons, and are vulnerable to enemy flak bursts

Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 1 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce detectability range.
Players who wish to spend doubloons can equip Hakuryū with Type 20 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces cost of post-battle service, and increases the amount of experience she earns.
Alternative space camo is available during Halloween.
Signals
As a carrier, Hakuryū has no risk of detonating. Players should mount Equal Speed Charlie London (🚫), Zulu Hotel (🚫), and, for the last two: November Echo Setteseven () and Juliet Whiskey Unaone ().
