Izmail — Soviet Tier VI battleship.
A battle cruiser which, at the time of her laying down, claimed to be the world's most powerful warship. She was very similar to battleship Gangut in terms of her layout and armor type, but differed in her larger size, speed and 356 mm main battery guns.

A classic battlecruiser, the Izmail packs ample firepower and great speed, though there are many weak points in her armor.
While Izmail has the same bow of other battleships of her tier, it is not the 75mm of her predecessor Pyotr Velikiy and cannot bounce shells of above 14". Apart from this, she is quite durable at short and medium range when bow- or stern- on. However, her citadel is very large and can easily lead to a quick demise when showing broadside. Her deck armor is fairly weak as well and vulnerable to plunging fire at range.
12 guns gives her a powerful alpha strike, especially at close range where she has better accuracy. While having two amidships turrets may look awkward and a step backwards towards the configuration of the Gangut, three out of her four main turrets rotate to the rear, which is actually quite comfortable in a kiting posture. However, this very fact combined with a slow turret traverse speed means that switching sides when pushing forwards is a time-consuming affair. She has a high top speed for this tier of 28 knots; however, like many Russian ships, this is largely due to having a long length-to-beam ratio rather than high engine power. This results in a large turning circle, poor acceleration, and severe loss of speed in turns.
- Good armor, when angled.
- Devastating accuracy at closer ranges, comparable or even better than Japanese counter-part Fuso
- Good top speed, of 28 knots making her faster than most of her Tier 6 peers.
- A grand total of 12 main guns giving her an impressive broadside
- Decent AA
- Decent rudder shift time and decent turning radius, for a battleship.
- Poor accuracy at longer ranges combined with terrible dispersion.
- Citadel is very high and literally on the top deck (in some places) making her very vulnerable to AP bombs or arching AP shells.
- When broadside her armor stops working and citadel hits are likely to happen.
- Shorter main gun range than some her tier 6 peers.
- Despite decent AA, its AA does have a range gap with its bulk from mid range.
- Abysmal torpedo protection.
- Long main battery reload time.
- The most of her high speed is due to her big length/beam ratio, not from engine power, which makes her lose a lot of speed when turning.

The Borodino-class battlecruisers (Russian: Линейные крейсера типа «Измаил») were a group of four battlecruisers ordered by the Imperial Russian Navy before World War I. Also referred to as the Izmail class, they were laid down in late 1912 at Saint Petersburg for service with the Baltic Fleet. Construction of the ships was delayed by a lack of capacity among domestic factories and the need to order some components from abroad. The start of World War I slowed their construction still further, as the imported components were often not delivered and domestic production was diverted into areas more immediately useful for the war effort.
Three of the four ships were launched in 1915 and the fourth in 1916. Work on the gun turrets lagged, and it became evident that Russian industry would not be able to complete the ships during the war. The Russian Revolution of 1917 halted all work on the ships, which was never resumed. Although some consideration was given to finishing the hulls that were nearest to completion, they were all eventually sold for scrap by the Soviet Union. The Soviet Navy proposed to convert Izmail, the ship closest to completion, to an aircraft carrier in 1925, but the plan was cancelled after political maneuvering by the Red Army led to funding not being available.
- Izmail is depicted in World of Warships in two fictional Soviet-era refits. Her original World War I design does not exist in the game.
- Izmail was launched flying the Imperial Russian Navy Ensign. In World of Warships, however, the ship flies the Soviet Naval Ensign.
- Actually a battlecruiser, not a battleship.
