Johan de Witt — Dutch Tier IX cruiser.
An alternative project to the one for the cruiser from back in 1939—it preserved the armament comprising nine 240 mm guns and offered appropriate armor and speed but presupposed greater displacement. Thanks to her high speed, such a cruiser could avoid engaging her enemies if she so wished while also being able to stand up against several Japanese battlecruisers due to her enhanced armament and armor. However, that project was never implemented either. Further work was focused on designing a heavy cruiser carrying 283 mm main guns.

Performance
Warning. The data presented in the AA Defense sidebar section may be incorrect.
The Johan De Witt is a pretty good allrounder with its Airstrike, Hydro and Deffensive AA consumable. The Armor of this ship is pretty decent with a turtleback. Her good concealment allos her to get close and personal to enemy cruisers.
This ship has a very good Icebreaker. The manuverability of it is pretty decent, thats why you should take Stearing Gears Modification 1 to improove the rudder shift time. The Concealment is excelent. When you take the Concealment Mod 1 and the Captains talent Concealment Expert and a ship concealment you can get the Detactibility Range down to 10KM. That means you can decide which ship to engage. That's why you should take the Gun Fire Control System Modification 2.
This ship is pretty good in tanking and kiting. Thanks to its good icebreaker you are able to bounce shells from most high caliber guns. When kiting away the long range can help you dodge shots.
Because of its weak armor (Deck 30mm), The De Witt is pretty vulnerable against high explosive shells which exceed 30mm penetraion. Also you are going to get a lot of overpens when kiting away because of the 27mm Side Plating.
The guns are at its best mediocre. These are basically German guns which spread a lot. So most of the time you will be using HE. the fire chance is 20%. The AP deals a considerable amount of damage. Sadly the guns aren't that accurat so you will be only shooting Ap when there is a broadsiding target infront of you.

Research
Availability of researchable upgrades for Johan de Witt is as follows:
- Hull: Upgrade to Hull (B) for a faster rudder shift time, improved AA, and more HP. Research of this module unlocks progression to Gouden Leeuw.
- Gun Fire Control System: Upgrade to SUO Mk 9 Mod. 2 for an extra 10% range on the main battery.
