+Upgrade Slot 1 provides two viable options. The first is Main Armaments Modification 1, which increases the survivability and reduces repair time of the main armament. Players wishing to specialize in anti-aircraft (AA) duties should take the second option, Auxiliary Armaments Modification 1. This upgrade increases the survivability of AA and secondary battery mounts.

+Upgrade Slot 2 provides options for specialization in certain roles. Aiming Systems Modification 1 is typically recommended for ship to ship combat. However, Kii possesses a formidable AA armament. Players wishing to specialize in AA should mount AA Guns Modification 2. This upgrade is most effective when the ship's commander is specialized with commander skills, including Basic Firing Training, Advanced Firing Training, and Manual Fire Control for AA Armament.

+Upgrade Slot 6 provides two options. Concealment System Modification 1 reduces ship detectability and increases dispersion of enemy shells fired at the player's ship. This upgrade is useful because it provides Kii with more ability to disengage to repair sustained damage, especially when paired with the Concealment Expert commander skill. The second option is Target Acquisition System Modification 1. Players who enjoy brawling may find this upgrade useful, because it improves the acquisition range of ships and torpedoes. It also improves spotting range by 20%.

Kii — Japanese premium Tier VIII battleship.

This high-speed battleship was designed under the 1920 shipbuilding program. The ship was a further development of the Amagi-class battleship design. Compared with her predecessor, she had heavier armor protection. The Kii-class battleships were canceled as a result of the Washington Naval Treaty in 1922.

Player Opinion

Performance

Kii is a tier 8 premium Japanese Battleship. Historically, Kii was designed as a battleship follow-on to the Amagi-class battlecruisers, featuring a thicker belt with slightly lower speed. In-game, Kii is slightly more vulnerable when broadside thanks to her thinner turtleback section and worse torpedo protection system, which has about half the damage reduction of Amagi's. Armament wise, Kii's guns reload one second slower than Amagi's, with similar gun characteristics otherwise. What sets Kii apart is her torpedoes and AA suite. Her torpedoes are very similar to Tirpitz's, featuring a 6km range, 14400 damage per torpedo, however in triple launchers instead of quadruple launchers. Kii's launchers are located at the stern of the ship, similar to Graf Spee's, giving them very wide firing arcs, especially to the rear of the ship. Kii also features a much improved AA suite, featuring 10cm mounts instead of the usual 12.7cm DP mounts, and large numbers of 40mm bofors mounts as well as the standard Japanese 25mm triple mounting. Kii also features a slightly faster rudder shift compared to Amagi. While at first Kii may seem to simply be an Amagi with torpedoes at first glance, she has some key differences which make her play differently, but anybody at home with Amagi will enjoy Kii.

Pros:

 • Incredible broadside firepower, with ten 410mm guns on 5 turrets that can do up to 12,600 damage per shell.
 • Unlike the Amagi, the Kii can launch 3 torpedoes per side for close range engagements.
 • Best long-range anti-aircraft suite for battleships of its tier.
 • Has both the strong AP and HE shells that the Amagi has.

Cons:

 • Fairly high Surface Detectability Range.
 • Main battery guns have incredibly slow reload, with 35 seconds between shots.
 • Lacks the powerful secondary armament and the torpedo bulge that the Amagi has.
 • Short main battery firing range compared to other Tier VIII battleships.

Research

As a premium ship, Kii doesn't have any upgrades to research.

Optimal Configuration

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Kii are as follows:

Upgrade Slot 1 provides two viable options.

Upgrade Slot 2 provides options for specialization in certain roles.

Upgrade Slot 6 provides two options.

Commander Skills

Given that Kii has a distinctly un-Japanese AA battery for a battleship, it might well be worth investing in captain skills designed to take advantage of this. Otherwise, captains are encourage to pursue a cookie-cutter survivability based battleship, choosing skills to help Kii stay afloat longer. Both options are viable, and the decision between the two is mostly down to personal preference.

Consumables

As a sister to Amagi and of the same tier, Kii can equip the following consumables:

Spending credits or doubloons on Damage Control Party II (When activated, instantly repairs fires, floods, and incapacitations, and prevents more for the duration.) and Repair Party II (While active, restores a fixed percentage of a ship's hit points each second.) are recommended to maximize survivability.

Camouflage

As a premium ship, Kii comes included with Type 10 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces her repair costs, and increases the amount of experience she earns.

Signals

As a Tier VIII premium battleship, Kii can mount eight signal flags simultaneously. India Yankee (-20% to fire duration.) and India Delta (+20% to the amount of HP recovered when the Repair Party consumable is used.) flags are recommended to improve the ship’s survivability. November Foxtrot (-5% reload time on all consumables.) is also recommended to decrease the cool down on the Repair PartyWhile active, restores a percentage of the ship's health points each second. and Damage Control PartyWhen activated, instantly repairs fires, floods, and incapacitations, and prevents more for the duration. consumables. Captains looking to further improve the ship’s anti-aircraft battery should mount November Echo Setteseven (+5% continuous damage by all AA guns, +5% damage per second within the explosion radius of shells fired from medium- and long-range AA defenses.) flags. Lastly, economic and special signal flags can be mounted to further increase the ship’s experience and credit gain per battle.

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
