?In general, there is no real difference between ''Kléber'' and ''Mogador'' the two ships make advances in the technology tree almost irrelevant.+Just like the predecessor and half sister ''Mogador'', is a very powerful gunboat destroyer. Possessing the biggest guns to be put on a destroyer at Tier X, with ballistics comparable to most light cruiser guns, she is more than capable of punching well above her weight. However, that is not her only strength. She also is one of the most if not the most agile ships in the game, although her turning is not great for a destroyer, she has a very unique ability that few other ships possess: the ability to rapidly accelerate and decelerate with her French Engine Boost, on top of the unrivaled speed. Captains who can use this ability properly will find that enemies have trouble hitting ''Kléber'' beyond close range, effectively allowing you to win a long term fight if they do not disengage, since it is foolish to follow a ''Kléber'' due to the speed advantage.
?The ''Kléber'' is the same ship but slightly faster, with slightly more Health Pool, slightly more range, etc.+
?The only real improvement from ''Mogador'' are the firing angles of Main Turret Four (''Mogador'' requires to display a full broadside in order to be used) that go from very bad to absolutely amazing.+On first glance, ''Kléber'' may appear to be a good ship for rushing caps early on due to her speed. However, she has very poor concealment for a destroyer, only ones worse are the Russian Destroyer Leaders (Khabarovsk line). The ship is not meant to cap contest, rather it is best as a second-line destroyer to provide gunboat support and be a distraction to the enemies. Not having smoke means you are unable to hide yourself at will, leaving you vulnerable in a cap if you are outspotted. Play her line a light cruiser, attacking ships and distract them. It is best to draw fire to yourself, which will usually miss due to your agility. If there is an aircraft carrier in the battle, play closer to your team so the enemy carrier has a harder time attacking you without losing planes.
?Look at ''Kléber'' as a bigger and better ''Mogador'' because her playing style is exactly the same.+

?The Kléber is based on the planned Desaix-class/Kléber-class of destroyers.+''Kléber'' as represented in World of Warships is a fictional warship – no member of the ''Mogador''-class survived for a post-war refit, and likewise none of the follow-on designs called for a higher speed or improved torpedo firepower.

 +
+The historical successor to the ''Mogador''-class was the 3,000-ton Type 1939 Contre-Torpilleur, intended to address the poor air-defense of French destroyers. Two 100mm CAD Mle 1930 twin anti-aircraft mounts would replace the 550mm Mle 1928D torpedo mounts aft, with a high angle director being fitted amidships. Close-range AA would consist only of the 13.2mm machine gun, doing away with the anemic 37mm guns. The ships would have greater endurance and superior handling to the ''Mogador''-class. Three names were assigned to the Type 1939 Contre-Torpilleur; ''Marceau'', ''Desaix'', and ''Kléber''.
 +
+However, the Naval General Staff was dissatisfied with the design, due to the poor performance of the 138.6/50 Mle 1934, and the excessive topweight incurred by the new 100mm guns - which amounted to 27 tons before ammunition and fire control equipment was included.
 +
+Due to the enforced pause in construction after France's entry into WWII (3 September 1939), time was available to revise the design. It was envisioned that the Type 1939 destroyers could have their main guns replaced by eight dual-purpose 130mm/45 in four twin mounts, with the light AA consisting of 37mm guns supported by 25mm cannons or 13.2mm machine guns. The extra 37mm guns would replace the aft torpedo tubes rather than previously planned 100mm guns.

Three names were assigned to the Type 1939 Conte-Torpilleur; Marceau, Desaix, and Kléber.+On 15 April 1940, the order to re-start construction was given, though there was no time to act on this. Plans for procurement were scrapped by the fall of France in June 1940, without any of the ships having been laid down. Two weeks prior to the restart order, a request for six ships of a modified design (known as the Type 1940) was given, but there was no time for any designs to be drawn up, ultimately ending the development of the Contre-Torpilleur for good.

Plans for procurement, however, were scrapped by the fall of France in June 1940, ending the development of the Contre-Torpilleur for good. The Mogador of 1936 were to be followed by 3 units approved in May 1938 (Desaix, Hoche, Kléber) and Marceau, approved in April 1939. A new series of 6 units (Bayard class) was approved in April 1940, but none were started. The completion of the former was scheduled for 1942, and that of the latter in 1943-44.+
?Overall, they resumed the characteristics of the Mogador, but they were however a little larger and wider, their reinforced hull, 6 torpedo tubes in two axial benches, a higher DCA, guns of the model 34 improved, a higher power with faster heating and greater autonomy.+

Kléber — French Tier X destroyer.

Developed in the early days of World War II, this large destroyer design constituted a further development of the Mogador class. The main distinctive features of these new ships were the different combination of artillery guns and more powerful AA defenses.

Kléber was released on 17 September 2019 for the EU server.

Performance

Kléber proudly serves at Tier X, representing France.

Just like the predecessor and half sister Mogador, is a very powerful gunboat destroyer. Possessing the biggest guns to be put on a destroyer at Tier X, with ballistics comparable to most light cruiser guns, she is more than capable of punching well above her weight. On first glance, Kléber may appear to be a good ship for rushing caps early on due to her speed. It is best to draw fire to yourself, which will usually miss due to your agility. If there is an aircraft carrier in the battle, play closer to your team so the enemy carrier has a harder time attacking you without losing planes.

Pros:

  • Fastest ship in the game with unsurpassed 55.2 knots top speed with Engine BoostWhile active, increases a ship's speed by a fixed percentage. and Sierra Mike (+5% to the ship's maximum speed.)
  • Powerful main armament of 4 x 2 139mm guns, on a destroyer.
  • Main Battery Reload Booster allows her to boost her reload at will, making short term engagements with Kléber potentially very deadly.
  • Very good gun angles.
  • Guns have amazing ballistics, allowing her to reliably hit targets even out to max range.
  • Torpedoes are very fast, 75 knot base speed, and good damage with enough range to be able to ward off close ships.
  • Anti-Aircraft Defense has very good continuous damage.
  • Like all French Destroyers, the hull sections saturate faster, which allows you to effectively take more HE damage.

Cons:

  • Lack of Smoke GeneratorWhile active, generates a smoke screen that blocks line-of-sight for both enemies and teammates. makes Kléber vulnerable if caught in a bad situation, no way for her to get out without taking damage.
  • Reload is subpar compared to other destroyers, though this can be mitigated with Main Battery Reload Booster.
  • Very poor turret traverse for a destroyer, it is best to not turn while firing your guns and instead rely on the engine to dodge.

  • Poor surface detection makes her unable to cap contest against other destroyers unless they challenge her to a gunfight.

Optimal Configuration

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Kléber are as follows:

If available, captains are encouraged to install Engine Boost Modification 1 Increases the action time of the Engine Boost and Emergency Engine Power consumables.: +50% action time. in Upgrade Slot 2 for her unique Engine BoostWhile active, increases a ship's speed by a fixed percentage. consumable.

Commander Skills

Consumables

Kléber can equip the following consumables:

Camouflage

Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 1 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce detectibility range.

Players who wish to spend doubloons can equip Kléber with Type 20 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces her repair costs, increases her credit earnings, and increases the amount of experience she earns.

Signals

The choice of which Signal Flags to mount will confer to the individual preference of each captain, and are subject to great variation, although there are certain flags which suit Destroyer gameplay better. Captains should mount India Yankee to decrease time to extinguish fires, mount November Foxtrot to decrease reload time of consumables, and mount Sierra Mike to increase the ship's maximum speed. To make their torpedoes more potent, captains should mount Juliet Whisky Unaone to increase chance of causing flooding and Juliet Charlie to mitigate risk to magazine detonation from mounting the former flag. If captains wish to buff their primary artillery, they are encouraged to mount Victor Lima + India X-ray to increase fire chance to HE shells.
