?Sitting at the very top of the French DD line,''Kléber'' proudly serves her country as a true gunship.+''Kléber'' proudly serves at Tier X, representing France.
  
?At first glance, she may seem to be an upsized and a powered up Mogador. You'd be right, and wrong at the same time. In reality, she's a refined version of the Mogador, with more HP, speed, and other things that warrant her upgrade over the tier 9. Let's talk about speed for a minute. If you though Khabarovsk was a speed machine, you would be proven wrong. Kleber, by comparison to Khaba, moves so fast that it can reverse time itself, with a top speed of 55.2 knots with Sierra Mike and Engine boost running, while also retaining excellent maneuverability, acceleration and deceleration, which makes hitting this destroyer nearly impossible at the ranges at which she plays. Her guns are also similarly incredible. She has 8 139mm/50 rifles in 4 dual turrets, two forward, two aft. On their own, these rifles seem underwhelming to the rapid fire guns found on other DDs, with an even slower rate of fire than the Shimakaze on a per-turret basis (!). However,Kleber, being French, boasts not only fantastic ballistic arcs on her shells, with 840 meters per second of shell velocity, as well as powerful HE shells and monstrous AP shells, but the Main Battery Reload Booster as well, which gives her pant-wetting Burst DPM for up to 15 seconds, and with the correct build, she can keep this up during the course of a battle, and let's not forget her powerful Torpedo Armament. She has a total of 12 tubes in 4 Triple Tubes,and despite just 8 kilometers of range, they have a powerful 18.4k alpha strike per fish and 75 knots of speed, making them similar to the Japanese F3 torpedoes in this regard. Aiding her in her jousts is her unique hull, which not only has that unique HP distribution that all French DDs have, but also a substantial 21,900 Hitpoints, which allows her to keep on fighting against multiple opponents and survive.+Just like the predecessor and half sister ''Mogador'', is a very powerful gunboat destroyer. Possessing the biggest guns to be put on a destroyer at Tier X (until Elbing came along), with ballistics comparable to most light cruiser guns, she is more than capable of punching well above her weight. However, that is not her only strength. She also is one of the most if not the most agile ships in the game, although her turning is not great for a destroyer, she has a very unique ability that few other ships possess: the ability to rapidly accelerate and decelerate with her French Engine Boost, on top of the unrivaled speed. Captains who can use this ability properly will find that enemies have trouble hitting ''Kléber'' beyond close range, effectively allowing you to win a long term fight if they do not disengage, since it is foolish to follow a ''Kléber'' due to the speed advantage and her very fast, hard-hitting torpedoes with a quick reload time of just 77 seconds without modifiers.
  
?She does have her issues, however. For starters, she's huge, being roughly the same size as the Khabarovsk, and she lacks the unique armor of even the Gearing, with her 21mm plating, which in turn means 19mm all around, which in turn again means that she'll take huge amounts of damage from cruisers, BBs and even other DDs. Her guns also take a long time to swivel around, and her DPM rapidly drops when she has her reload booster inactive. Her biggest fault, however, comes from her massive 9.9km detection range, which largely makes entering capture zones an absolute death sentence, even with a full stealth build. Of course, it wasn't always this way, but it is what it is.+However, the fun factor behind ""Kleber"" is, just like ""Mogador"" before her, the improved AP penetration found on her main guns. Because of the high AP penetration on them, the best out of all the Tier 10 destroyers, she is capable of citadelling enemy cruisers with ease. Ships such as ""[[Minotaur]]"", ""[[Smolensk]]"" and ""[[Colbert]]"", which would normally shred other destroyers, melt under the AP firepower of a ''Kléber'' with reload booster activated. And if ""Kleber"" gets close enough, she can citadel almost all of the cruisers in her matchmaking spread.
  
?Overall, Kleber represents what a gunship should be: Fast, powerful, and hard hitting. You can either play her as an ambusher or a long range harrassing gunship. Either way, she'll make her opponents mad or terrified, because one way or another, no matter where you go or where you hide. If Kleber knows you're there, and he wants you+On first glance, ''Kléber'' may appear to be a good ship for rushing caps early on due to her speed. However, she has very poor concealment for a destroyer, only ones worse are the Russian Destroyer Leaders (""[[Khabarovsk]]"" line). The ship is not meant to cap contest, rather it is best as a second-line destroyer to provide gunboat support and be a distraction to the enemies, as well as creating ambushes behind islands. Not having smoke means you are unable to hide yourself at will, leaving you vulnerable in a cap if you are out-spotted. One way to play her is to play her like a light cruiser, attacking ships and distract them. It is best to draw fire to yourself, which will usually miss due to your agility. If there is an aircraft carrier in the battle, play closer to your team so the enemy carrier has a harder time attacking you without losing planes.

Performance

Kléber proudly serves at Tier X, representing France.

Just like the predecessor and half sister Mogador, is a very powerful gunboat destroyer. Possessing the biggest guns to be put on a destroyer at Tier X (until Elbing came along), with ballistics comparable to most light cruiser guns, she is more than capable of punching well above her weight. However, that is not her only strength. She also is one of the most if not the most agile ships in the game, although her turning is not great for a destroyer, she has a very unique ability that few other ships possess: the ability to rapidly accelerate and decelerate with her French Engine Boost, on top of the unrivaled speed. Captains who can use this ability properly will find that enemies have trouble hitting Kléber beyond close range, effectively allowing you to win a long term fight if they do not disengage, since it is foolish to follow a Kléber due to the speed advantage and her very fast, hard-hitting torpedoes with a quick reload time of just 77 seconds without modifiers.

However, the fun factor behind ""Kleber"" is, just like ""Mogador"" before her, the improved AP penetration found on her main guns. Because of the high AP penetration on them, the best out of all the Tier 10 destroyers, she is capable of citadelling enemy cruisers with ease. Ships such as ""Minotaur"", ""Smolensk"" and ""Colbert"", which would normally shred other destroyers, melt under the AP firepower of a Kléber with reload booster activated. And if ""Kleber"" gets close enough, she can citadel almost all of the cruisers in her matchmaking spread.

On first glance, Kléber may appear to be a good ship for rushing caps early on due to her speed. However, she has very poor concealment for a destroyer, only ones worse are the Russian Destroyer Leaders (""Khabarovsk"" line). The ship is not meant to cap contest, rather it is best as a second-line destroyer to provide gunboat support and be a distraction to the enemies, as well as creating ambushes behind islands. Not having smoke means you are unable to hide yourself at will, leaving you vulnerable in a cap if you are out-spotted. One way to play her is to play her like a light cruiser, attacking ships and distract them. It is best to draw fire to yourself, which will usually miss due to your agility. If there is an aircraft carrier in the battle, play closer to your team so the enemy carrier has a harder time attacking you without losing planes.

  • Torpedoes have a mediocre 8km range.
  • Turning circle is somewhat poor.

  • Very poor AA range, not even matching her air detectability.

Signals

The choice of which Signal Flags to mount will confer to the individual preference of each captain, and are subject to great variation, although there are certain flags which suit Destroyer gameplay better. Captains should mount India Yankee to decrease time to extinguish fires, mount November Foxtrot to decrease reload time of consumables, and mount Sierra Mike to increase the ship's maximum speed. To make their torpedoes more potent, captains should mount Juliet Whisky Unaone to increase chance of causing flooding and Juliet Charlie to mitigate risk to magazine detonation from mounting the former flag. If captains wish to buff their primary artillery, they are encouraged to mount Victor Lima + India X-ray to increase fire chance to HE shells.


Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
