Lazo — Soviet special premium Tier VII cruiser.
One of the light cruisers planned for construction under the "Big Ocean-Going Fleet" (project 68). The ship's large dimensions allowed her to accommodate twelve 152 mm main battery guns and provide quite strong armor protection.

Player Opinion
Performance
Lazo is a tier 7 Soviet light cruiser which inherits its playstyle from its tech tree sister, Shchors while being based upon the stock hull of Chapayev.
Captains will be happy with Lazo's primary firepower which comes in the form of twelve, 152mm rifled guns with a 9 second reload and excellent range of 17.3km. The excellent ballistics on these guns mean that captains will be able to kite away and rain fire down upon Battleships with relative ease, making usage of her unique Spotting Aircraft consumable for near constant uptime. While the guns may lack behind Shchors for damage per minute due to the slightly lower rate of fire, the additional range helps to make up for this. The armor penetration of her AP shells is relatively high for the caliber, meaning they can be useful against cruisers which decide to aggressively show broadside however her HE will still be her primary ammo choice. Because of this, Captains will want to opt into the Inertia Fuse for HE Shells perk to increase the penetration of her guns to 32mm.
The Spotting Aircraft of Lazo compliments the ship in it's intended role of a long-range, HE spamming cruiser by further increasing her range to 20.7km. A unique trait of this consumable is that compared to other Cruisers, Lazo only has a 10 second reload time when making usage of Premium Consumables.
Lazo like other Soviet Cruisers, comes equipped a set of relatively short range torpedoes which captains may wish to make usage of in closer range brawls or to assassinate overly assertive battleships. However, captains should note to only use these defensively as their short range and low number per side mean they are not a very effective weapon.
Captains will find Lazo's maneuverability closely resembles that of Shchors, making her strong in the kiting role while the added armor affords her the chance to better sustain herself against incoming fire. The additional 4,100hp further increases her survivability being matched nicely by a slight improvement in concealment. However, Captains should be aware that while an improvement, her armor will not allow her to eat shells into the side so Captains should be cautious if having to push into closer range. Her anti-aircraft battery is a slight downgrade from Shchors, maintain the same long range and short range firepower but reducing the DPS of her mid-range battery.
Overall, players who like Shchors will be right at home with Lazo, finding she plays in much the same way with only a few minor differences. However, Captains should play her at range, making usage of her exceptional gun ballistics, long range and Spotting Aircraft to get the best results and avoiding pushing too aggressively until later in the game when she is less likely to be focused by multiple ships.Pros:
- Long main battery firing range at 17.3km range.
- Spotting Aircraft has very short cooldown, allowing Lazo to consistently maintain maximum firing range.
- High explosive shells have high fire chance and can pack a punch with the captain skill "Inertia Fuse for HE Shells".
Cons:
- Poor armor protection; lack of angling and dodging can result in huge damage taken.
- Short-range "suicide" torpedoes.
- Relatively poor maneuverability in comparison to other Tier VII cruisers.
Optimal Configuration
Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Lazo are as follows:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1 or Spotting Aircraft Modification 1
- Slot 2: Damage Control System Modification 1
- Slot 3: Aiming Systems Modification 1
- Slot 4: Steering Gears Modification 2 or Damage Control System Modification 2
Since Lazo plays similar to her tech tree counterparts, a standard build that emphasizes her survivability and main armaments is a viable options. Alternatively, Captains may elect to use Spotting Aircraft Modification 1 to capitalize on the kiting play-style that favours Lazo, and as such, use Damage Control System Modification 2 to offset the exclusion of Damage Control System Modification 1 from the alternate build.
Commander Skills
Lazo is very similar to Shchors, and thus shares a similar commander loadout

Consumables
Lazo can equip the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Defensive AA Fire or Hydroacoustic Search
- Slot 3: Spotting Aircraft Of note is the special nature of Lazo`s spotter aircraft. It has a very quick 10s reload time with premium consumable combined with an active time of 60s.
Camouflage
As a premium ship, Lazo comes included with Type 10 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces her repair costs, and increases the amount of experience she earns.
Signals
Lazo captains should mount standard signal flags to improve the ship's performance in battle. Sierra Mike () flags are highly recommended to increase the ship's top speed. India X-Ray () and Victor Lima () flags should be mounted to improve the ship's main battery fire chance. November Foxtrot () flags can also be mounted to decrease consumable cooldown time. Lastly, economic and special signal flags can be mounted to increase the ship's economic gains per battle.
