Lion — British Tier IX battleship.
The last British battleship designed and laid down before the breakout of World War II. In many respects, the ship was a development of the King George V-class ships, but, unlike her predecessors, she had greater dimensions, heavier armor, and modern 406 mm main guns.

Player Opinion
Performance
Tier IX's Lion has the ability to roar into action anywhere on a map to protect her cubs. Her low concealment combined with a fearsome main battery of 406mm guns means she excels at stalking and pouncing on unsuspecting prey.
Keep in mind that even the mightiest of predators can fall victim to coordinated attacks. Therefore, she is best played at the head of her pride, able to be reinforced as needed. Her gameplay is very similar to that of the Iowa, with the added benefit of a strong Repair Party consumable. Use islands to mask your movements as you continue to advance and put pressure on the enemy. At the right moment, pounce!
Played properly, Lion always repays her debts.Pros:
- Great armor piercing shell penetration.
- High chance of fire with high explosive shells.
- Excellent handling characteristics.
- Great concealment.
- Access to an improved version of the Repair Party consumable such as those found on Nelson, and can heal 75% of normal penetration damage.
- Decent belt armor that protects the citadel well when angled.
- Decent anti-air weaponry provides more-than-adequate self-defense from enemy bomber aircraft.
Cons:
- Armor scheme is vulnerable to broadside hits from enemy battleships and cruiser HE shells.
- Very poor rear turret training limit.
- Her size and length make dodging torpedoes difficult.
- Lowest health pool of all Tier IX battleships, as well as weaker Torpedo Defense System.
- Average top speed; not fast enough to chase some ships, Lion is forced to pounce on her prey from stealth rather than chase them.

Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Lion are as follows:
- Slot 1: Main Armaments Modification 1 ensures healthy and strong teeth (main battery guns).
- Slot 2: Damage Control System Modification 1 helps prevent open wounds (fewer fires and floods).
- Slot 3: AA Guns Modification 1 helps resist enemy fleas and ticks (aircraft).
- Slot 4: Damage Control System Modification 2 helps control excessive bleeding (reduced time on fires and floods).
- Slot 5: Concealment System Modification 1 allows Lion to strike from stealth (because 11.5 km detection radius on a Tier IX battleship puts some Tier IX cruisers to shame).
- Slot 6: Main Battery Modification 3 enables more vicious and rapid attacks (faster reload speed).
Commander Skills
Given her low health pool, Lion will benefit most from skills that maximize her survivability, chiefly Priority Target at Level 1, High Alert at Level 2, Superintendent at Level 3, and Fire Prevention at Level 4. Once those core skills are unlocked, captains are advised to invest in Concealment Expert, Adrenaline Rush, and either Basics of Survivability or Vigilance in whichever order suits them best.

Consumables
Lion can equip the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Repair Party
- Slot 3: Spotting Aircraft or Catapult Fighter
When choosing between consumables for Slot 3, players should consider that Spotting Aircraft provides better vision, enabling her to mangle prey, while Catapult Fighter is mainly intended to keep the fleas and ticks at bay. Choose whichever suits you.
Camouflage
Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 2 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.
Players who wish to spend doubloons can equip Lion with Type 19 camouflage that lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, reduces her repair costs, and increases the amount of experience she earns.
