+For captains acquainted with the German destroyer line, ''Longjiang'' (龍江, "Dragon River") will feel very familiar to ''[[V-25]]''; many aspects of this oriental ''Hochsee-Torpedoboote'' (ocean-going torpedo boat) will mirror her German cousin, but she is not an identical vessel.
 +
+''{{#var:ship_name}}''’s primary weapon are her deep water torpedoes (DWT), used to combat against enemy capital ships: cruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers. Compared to her German equivalent, she can launch 4 fish every 32 seconds, which can run up to a distance of 8.0 km. In conjunction with her superior concealment of 5.4km and top speed of 36 knots, her primary task is to hunt down isolated and/or unaware warships, surprising them with volleys of torpedoes from a safe distance. With a default torpedo speed of 49 knots, they are relatively feasible for enemies to dodge; to offset this disadvantage, crafty captains should use islands to close the engagement distances to their targets, or choose targets that are preoccupied fighting other allied ships.
 +
+Her artillery on the other hand is situational, and must be considered secondary to her torpedo armament. Despite the superior fire-rate of 15 rounds per minute, the high shell arcs and average shell velocity make for overall mediocre performance. ''{{#var:ship_name}}''’s guns should not be used as a primary source of damage – other than to attempt starting fires with high explosive rounds – and have few good applications save self-defense from other destroyers.
 +
+Unlike ''V-25'', ''{{#var:ship_name}}'' does not have forward firing torpedo tubes; therefore, no opportunities to engage in “torpedo jousting” tactics favored by ''V-25'' captains. More importantly, her DWT do not work against destroyers. Unless in situations that favor ''Longjiang'', it is imperative to avoid combat with enemy destroyers, as she is inherently handicapped and overall very fragile. If destroyer encounters are unavoidable, captains should consider sticking close to allied ships in order to ensure an advantageous situation.

+''Longjiang'' provides captains with a user-friendly platform to familiarize themselves with DWT before they progress further up the Pan-Asian destroyer line.

 ===History=== ===History===
+As their name might imply, the Type 1913-class ''Hochsee-Torpedoboote'' (ocean-going torpedo boats) were designated for the 1913 and 1914 fiscal year naval construction programs of the ''Kaiserliche Marine''. Contemporarily known as the ''[[V-25|V25]]''-class (based on the lead ship), the main goal for their inception was to improve on the Type 1911-class torpedo boats – contemporarily known as the ''V1''-class – which proved to be disapprovingly ineffective at their intended role
 +
+Many improvements were summarily implemented. In comparison to their predecessors, the ''V25''-class was larger in every dimension to increase overall displacement, and ergo increase internal volume and functionality. As well, the vessels moved to using purely oil-firing boilers, instead of the more common coal or mix-firing boilers of the time. Despite the greater operating costs, the intended effects were achieved. The class of vessels were able to achieve better cruising capabilities and in general attain better seaworthiness. The transition to oil-firing machinery resulted in higher speeds. In fact, despite the design specifications rating the propulsion to achieve no more than 33 knots, almost every ship was able to exceed that parameter in sea trials; the fastest ships surpassed the benchmark by almost 3 knots. Furthermore, since the oil-firing equipment was smaller than conventional coal and mix-firing equipment, less manpower had to be dedicated to their daily operations, and the space saved could be allotted for more fuel. Hence, the ''V25''-class achieved greater operation range than that of their predecessors as well.

?====Design====+The class was able to incorporate some of the latest torpedo boat-level weaponry that was in the ''Kaiserliche Marine'' arsenal. The class all mounted three of the latest 88mm SK L/45 rifled guns in single mounts; forward, centre, and aft, respectively. To increase their potency, most of the coats in the class later had their guns replaced with the much more powerful 105mm SK L/45 guns. Furthermore, the class carried six torpedo tubes with eight of the latest 50cm torpedoes. Interesting to note, the ''Kaiserliche Marine'' still kept experimenting with and implementing forward facing torpedo tubes, which later would become a staple of torpedo boat construction.

?====Service====+Interestingly, SMS ''V-25'' herself briefly carried a Friedrichshafen FF.33 seaplane in place of her middle gun.

+Over the span of three years, three shipyards would construct 71 Type 1913 ''Hochseetorpedoboote'' across Imperial Germany. As per the serializing procedure of the ''Kaiserliche Marine'', the ships were numbered according to the yard that built them. For example, SMS ''V25'' was the 25th torpedo boat built by AG Vulcan Stettin.

?|HistoricalGallery=<!-- write below list of files with description (if necessary) separated with | --><gallery>+These 71 torpedo boats would go onto serving in the High Seas Fleet during World War I. 62 would be lost over the course of the War: 32 sunk during combat in the North and Baltic Seas, 30 would be scuttled with the German fleet in Scapa Flow. The remaining 6 were given off as war reparations to Britain, France, and Italy.

 +===Historical Accuracy===
+The ''V-25''-class only served with the Imperial German Navy. The Republic of China considered ordering torpedo boats from Imperial Germany to bolster its naval forces, but such a decision was not further pursued.

Performance

For captains acquainted with the German destroyer line, Longjiang (龍江, "Dragon River") will feel very familiar to V-25; many aspects of this oriental Hochsee-Torpedoboote (ocean-going torpedo boat) will mirror her German cousin, but she is not an identical vessel.

Longjiang’s primary weapon are her deep water torpedoes (DWT), used to combat against enemy capital ships: cruisers, battleships, and aircraft carriers.

Her artillery on the other hand is situational, and must be considered secondary to her torpedo armament. Despite the superior fire-rate of 15 rounds per minute, the high shell arcs and average shell velocity make for overall mediocre performance. Longjiang’s guns should not be used as a primary source of damage – other than to attempt starting fires with high explosive rounds – and have few good applications save self-defense from other destroyers.

Unlike V-25, Longjiang does not have forward firing torpedo tubes; therefore, no opportunities to engage in “torpedo jousting” tactics favored by V-25 captains. More importantly, her DWT do not work against destroyers. Unless in situations that favor Longjiang, it is imperative to avoid combat with enemy destroyers, as she is inherently handicapped and overall very fragile. If destroyer encounters are unavoidable, captains should consider sticking close to allied ships in order to ensure an advantageous situation.

Longjiang provides captains with a user-friendly platform to familiarize themselves with DWT before they progress further up the Pan-Asian destroyer line.

Pros:

  • Tied for lowest detection range of all ships in game and highest speed of all Tier II destroyers.
  • Can fire torpedoes while undetected.
  • Torpedoes have the longest range of all Tier II destroyers.
  • Among the fastest artillery fire rate of all Tier II destroyers.
  • Highly maneuverable.

Cons:

  • Tied for lowest hit-points of all Tier II destroyers.
  • Average turret traverse and torpedo reload speed.
  • High shell arcs.
  • Does not retain the forward torpedo tubes of V-25.
  • Deep water torpedoes are ineffective against destroyers.

Research

Availability of researchable upgrades for Longjiang is as follows:

  • Hull: Upgrade to Hull B for increase in hit-points and decrease in rudder-shift time. Research of this module unlocks progression to Phra Ruang.
  • Gun Fire Control System: Upgrade to FKS Type 2 Mod. 2 for increase in range.
It is recommended to solely focus on Hull upgrades for captains who wish to progress further up the tech tree. For captains who wish to continue playing Longjiang, FKS Type 2 Mod. 2 is an inexpensive upgrade to research and mount.

Optimal Configuration

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Longjiang are as follows:

Commander Skills

Captains are recommended to focus on two key aspects when selecting commander skills for Longjiang: increasing her survivability or increasing her torpedo potency. She is a fragile vessel with low health and easily damaged modules, so any boost to her damage mitigation will prove beneficial. On the other hand, Longjiang has the ability to trade torpedo distance for speed, and increase reload times; all in favor of increasing the rate of fire of her torpedoes.

Full list of key skills for Longjiang commanders include the ones shown below:

Consumables

Longjiang can equip the following consumables:

Signals

Combat signals will be the ones most frequently mounted; it is recommended to focus on buffing her speed and main battery. Full list of appropriate signals for Longjiang is shown below:

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
