München — German premium Tier VII cruiser.

The German plan provided for the presence of thirteen light cruisers, six of which had already been built by the beginning of 1939. There were plans to add six more cruisers with an enhanced design. Unlike the preceding classes, they were supposed to have an improved range and higher speed. In 1938 and 1939, six ships were ordered, two of which were laid down in Kiel and Wilhelmshaven in 1938. In September 1939, the construction of the ships was canceled due to the outbreak of World War II, and all laid-down cruisers were demolished on the stocks.

Pros:

Fast main battery rate of fire
Good main battery range and firing angles
Base HE penetration is 38mm, does not require IFHE
One of the fastest cruisers in its tier, with a base speed of 36 knots
Equipped with one quadruple torpedo launcher per side of the ship
Improved Hydroacoustic Search  consumable compared to same-tier non-German cruisers
Good short range AA suite
Excellent concealment

Cons:

Only eight main guns, shell volume is rather low
Shell arcs are high, and shells quickly lose speed in flight
Fragile ship, poor armor and small hitpoint pool
Torpedoes are short-ranged
Very weak long-range AA suite, no mid-range AA
