?HMS Malta is a tier X Royal Navy aircraft carrier, and her aircraft share many of the traits found on her tech tree counterparts, including high hp pools, modest plane speed, and wide turning radiuses. Malta uses standard squadrons similar to the stock aircraft found on the tech tree tier X Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Audacious. However, she carries a larger number of aircraft per squadron and attacking flight, and she also stands out for her large fast aircraft preparation. Her key distinguishing factor from Audacious is the addition of bombers which carry AP bombs instead of HE bombs. With squadrons with larger attacking flights and fast aircraft preparation times coupled with AP bombers, Malta deviates her focus from doing damage over time via fire and flooding like the researchable Royal Navy aircraft carriers to doing direct alpha damage.+Malta Performance Section

+HMS Malta is a T10 British carrier that excels in dealing consistent damage to all classes (with some exceptions in each class and subs). She is equipped with the standard carrier loadout of attack, bomber, and torpedo aircraft that boast high survivability, decent speed, fast plane regen, and massive reserves allowing her to carry out strikes in dense AA. Malta’s hull is comparable to that of the HMS Audacious with some exceptions pertaining to a raised citadel roof and increased citadel side plating.

?Blackburn Firebrand Bombers+Attack Aircraft
+Malta’s attack aircraft carry high explosive rockets. One squadron contains 12 planes divided into 3 strikes that launch a total of 40 rockets per strike. Each rocket has decent alpha that, when coupled with a tight reticle and short aiming period, can be devastating to destroyers. With a high fire chance, these planes are also effective against battleships.

?These Firebrand bombers on Malta are the largest distinguishing factor between Malta and Audacious and are one of her most unique characteristics. While these bombers themselves are the same as the stock Firebrand bombers on Audacious and they also behave very similarly in terms of carpet bombers which release a large number of bombs from high altitude that require more lead due to a long fall time of the bombs, unlike Audacious’s bombers which carry HE bombs, Malta’s bombers carry AP bombs. Each bomber squadron consists of 15 bombers which attack in groups of 5 aircraft, each dropping 4 bombs for a total of 20 bombs per drop. These bombs can individually deal up to 4300 damage and have modest penetration, although they cannot set fires due to being armor piercing in nature. While they are not effective at attacking enemy destroyers such as the HE bombers on Audacious, these AP bombers are very effective at attacking battleships, heavy cruisers, light cruisers, and even some aircraft carriers with lower deck armor. Unlike the Japanese Hakuryu or German aircraft carrier Manfred von Richthofen's AP bombs, which tend to citadel battleships and heavy cruisers, Malta’s AP bombs do not have the same level of penetration and thus struggle to citadel these larger vessels. However, the bombs tend to arm very effectively against the decks of these vessels, leading to full penetration strikes that can deal 15,000-damage strikes or more. Moreover, what these AP bombs are capable of landing citadel hits on are light cruisers. While striking these vessels can be costly due to their strong anti-aircraft artillery fire, a strike that connects with its target can severely cripple the light cruiser with citadel hits that are harder to repair. Thus, these AP bombers are very capable strike squadrons that should be used judiciously to strike specific targets at specific times. +“Carpet” Bombers
+Malta’s carpet bombers carry armor-piercing bombs with low penetration capabilities. Each squadron contains 15 planes divided into 3 strikes that drop 20 bombs per strike. As with other HMS carriers, these bombers drop from a high altitude although the bombs drop much quicker and with a tighter dispersion. The low penetration allows these planes to devastate light cruisers and bulky destroyers while also dealing decent damage against battleships and heavy/large cruisers.

?Blackburn Firebrand Torpedo Bombers+Torpedo Bombers
+Malta’s torpedo bombers have slow torpedo speed with decent alpha and high flood chance. Each squadron contains 12 planes with a strike consisting of 4 planes dropping a total of 4 torpedoes per strik. With high plane HP coupled with an in-flight repair consumable, these planes are able to strike into dense AA or strike multiple times against a single target.

?These Firebrand torpedo bombers on Malta serve as her most consistent form of damage and are nearly identical to the stock Firebrand torpedo bombers found on Audacious except for three features. The aircraft preparation time of 64 seconds is significantly lower than the 89 seconds found on Audacious. Malta’s attacking squadron size is also larger with four planes per attack instead of three. These squadrons are a bit slower at 171 knots at top speed combined with excellent health pools that enable them to hold out amidst anti-aircraft artillery fire. However, due to this speed and high health, the turning radius on these squadrons is lacking. In addition, the Mk. XVII torpedoes themselves do not do much damage despite having a slow speed of 35 knots. However, unlike the narrow converging spread found on the researchable Royal Navy aircraft carriers, these torpedoes fan out slightly, making it easier to land potential torpedo hits due to a wider area of coverage but making it harder to land all four torpedoes. These torpedo bombers should be Malta’s primary form of damage and are effective at attacking nearly all ship types.
?
?
?Blackburn Firebrand Attack Aircraft
?
?These Firebrand attack aircraft on Malta are practically identical to the stock Firebrand torpedo bombers found on Audacious except for an improved aircraft preparation time of 64 seconds instead of 74 seconds for Audacious and a larger attacking flight of four aircraft instead of three. Each squadron consists of 12 aircraft that attack in flights of 3, each launching 10 rockets for a total of 40 rockets per attack. The high number of rockets combined with a short machine gun delay makes them an excellent choice against enemy destroyers, with well-aimed rocket salvos being capable of taking a third or more of their HP pools in one attack. However, just like for Audacious, the high potential alpha strike that these rockets could have against more armored vessels is largely precluded by the low penetration of only 28mm. As such, they shouldn’t be relied upon as a primary source of damage against larger ships. However, these attack aircraft are capable of penetrating the lightly armored superstructure of cruisers and battleships to inflict damage while also potentially starting a fire with their modest fire chance of 9% per rocket. Thus, these attack aircraft should be used to scout and attack enemy destroyers, as well as for starting fires on ships who have used their damage control party consumable.

Malta Performance Section

HMS Malta is a T10 British carrier that excels in dealing consistent damage to all classes (with some exceptions in each class and subs).

Attack Aircraft Malta’s attack aircraft carry high explosive rockets. One squadron contains 12 planes divided into 3 strikes that launch a total of 40 rockets per strike. Each rocket has decent alpha that, when coupled with a tight reticle and short aiming period, can be devastating to destroyers. With a high fire chance, these planes are also effective against battleships.

“Carpet” Bombers Malta’s carpet bombers carry armor-piercing bombs with low penetration capabilities.

Torpedo Bombers

Malta’s torpedo bombers have slow torpedo speed with decent alpha and high flood chance. Each squadron contains 12 planes with a strike consisting of 4 planes dropping a total of 4 torpedoes per strik. With high plane HP coupled with an in-flight repair consumable, these planes are able to strike into dense AA or strike multiple times against a single target.

Pros:

 • Fast aircraft preparation time
 • Large plane reserves and squadron sizes
 • Solid alpha strike potential torpedoes and AP bombers
 • Ap bombs are very effective against light cruisers and bulky destroyers
 • High plane durability and speed so deals with anti air very well

Cons:

 • Vulnerable hull due to weak secondaries, AA and hull armor.
 • Rockets only pen 28mm
 • AP bombs can only citadel lightly armored targets
 • Torpedoes disperse out from drop
