Each map in World of Warships is designed to be unique and interesting while promoting fun and engaging gameplay. Most maps are restricted to certain tiers of ships, largely due to the speed and firing range of the ships that will play on it. Map sizes vary from 24x24 km to 48x48 km. It's worth noting that maps are not to scale with the ships. Ships are roughly twice as large than they should be; put another way, each map is twice as small as it should be. This is intentional, and was done to condense gameplay and avoid long matches in which players spend inordinate amounts of time just trying to bring the enemy into engagement range. | Each map in World of Warships is designed to be unique and interesting while promoting fun and engaging gameplay. Ring is a group of small Pacific tropical islands like Hawaii, with a key group of ring-like islands in the center. These islands can provide reliable cover or become a deadly trap, so be on guard! Holding the "ring" is also important. If the enemy team takes it, it will take a focused attack to drive them out. There is enough open space for comfortable firing at long range, but losing control of the islands means vulnerability to torpedo attacks from the center. Trident features an archipelago resembling those found in the Indian Ocean. The small islands make for excellent hiding places from which to launch surprise attacks and torpedo salvoes. The mountain ranges in the center of Estuary make artillery battles tricky, but also provide opportunities to sneak salvos through with their extensive gaps in the terrain. Given the tiers of ships it sees, this map tends to play very quickly, especially given the nearly direct access enemy destroyers have through the center to opposing capture points.
The maps listed below are divided currently into two types: Regular and Special. Regular maps are the ones most players are familiar with, as they feature in Random Battles. Special maps on the other hand only appear at certain times, or on special occasions.
Note that "Battle Tier" below refers to the tier of the highest ship in the battle, and not necessarily to the tiers of ALL ships in the battle. For example: a map with a "Battle Tier" of "9-10" can actually be seen by Tier VII ships if they are up-tiered into a Tier IX battle in which that map is chosen.
