This completely changes her play style, allowing her to aggressively support capture areas and help her team's destroyers to win battles in those areas. She is especially dangerous to British cruisers and smoke-reliant cruisers, as the radar allows her to penetrate their smoke screens and catch them off guard with a well-aimed salvo of armor penetrating shells. In addition, her radar is a considerable threat to enemy DDs as she or her allies can deal considerable damage to any DD caught. Even if her radar doesn't catch them, the mere presence of it can zone out DDs, making it hard for them to launch torpedo attacks or deal effective gun damage. Other than the radar, her other combat characteristics are similar to ''Iowa'', with powerful super-heavy AP rounds, high speed, and good anti-aircraft suite. She does have a thicker forward armor bulkhead, but — just like ''Iowa'' — it can still be reliably penetrated by ''[[Yamato]]''’s 18.1-inch shells.

She will earn a large number of credits, not uncommonly earning at least 1 million credits with economic bonuses. Players who purchased her prior to the 10.7 patch get access to an improved permanent Credit bonus of +40%, compared to +10% for other Tier IX ships, making her the undisputed best credit-earning ship in the game. Besides her income advantage, ''Missouri'' is a very effective American commander trainer due to her high exp earnings. Unfortunately ''Missouri'' is very difficult to obtain, only being available during limited-time events or if the player is lucky to draw her in a Santa container.

? | + | Like the US tech tree BBs, it is recommended for ''Missouri'' to build for full survivability. This maximizes her chance of surviving into the late game where she can put her radar and accurate guns to good use. ''Missouri'' captains should take the following core skills for her first 10 points:
? | + | # Preventative Maintenance OR Gun Feeder
+ | # Grease the Gears | |||
+ | # Adrenaline Rush | |||
+ | # Concealment Expert | |||
? | + | After taking her core skills, players should take Fire Prevention next to reduce damage taken by fires. Emergency Repair Expert to improve her heals; the extra heal improves her late-game potential. Finally, Basics of Survivability is useful for further reducing fire damage while also reducing flood damage.

The main armament of the ''Iowa'' class — while using rifles of the same diameter of 406mm as preceding ships — were longer than the rifles on the ''South Dakota''-class (increased from 45 calibers to 50 calibers) and therefore have the distinction of being the largest rifles mounted on any US warship to date. This increase in rifle length resulted in greater distance for expanding gases in the chamber to propel the projectile, which equated to higher muzzle velocity, greater range, and greater armor-penetration capabilities than preceding rifles. Furthermore, the ''Iowa''-class had a comprehensive suite of secondary and anti-aircraft guns due to the design emphasis of increased protection against air attacks; the armament systems were supplemented with state-of-the-art radar-based fire control systems (''Missouri'' mounted the Mark 27 Fire Control Radar set). The armor scheme of the ''Iowa'' class was largely the same as the preceding ''South Dakota'' class, which offered protection from 406mm/45 rifles firing 1,016 kg Mark 5 shells from ranges between 16,000 - 27,000 meters. As the second pair of ''Iowa''-class battleships built, ''Missouri'' and ''Wisconsin'' had some armor differences from the first pair, ''Iowa'' and ''New Jersey'': forward bulkhead armor thickness increased to 368mm to better protect against head-on rounds. This is noteworthy when facing enemies bow-on in World of Warships.

Missouri — American special premium Tier IX battleship.
USS Missouri, the third Iowa-class battleship, was laid down in 1941 and launched three years later. During World War II, she served in the Pacific Theater. On September 2, 1945, the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on the battleship. Between 1950 and 1953, the ship participated in the Korean War. In 1984, the battleship was modernized—guided missiles were installed. In 1991, she participated in Operation Desert Storm. Missouri received 11 battle stars for her service; she is now a museum ship in Pearl Harbor.
USS Missouri is now preserved as a military museum ship in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Missouri was first released for sale worldwide on 7 December 2016, and was removed from sale on 28 February 2018 with the release of Update 0.7.2. It was brought back as a ship available for purchase with the Pacific War event in Update 0.10.7, albeit unlike the legacy variant, it was returned to the game as a ship earning only the standard amount of credits per battle for a tier IX premium ship.

Refer to the in-game Port screens for more useful data.
Affectionately referred to as "Mighty Mo" by her crew while she was on active duty, USS Missouri comes to World of Warships as the game's first Tier IX premium. She has many similarities with her counterpart in the American battleship tree tech tree (Iowa) but with a few key differences.
The primary difference is that Missouri carries the Surveillance Radar consumable instead of Spotting Aircraft or Catapult Fighter . Other than the radar, her other combat characteristics are similar to Iowa, with powerful super-heavy AP rounds, high speed, and good anti-aircraft suite. She does have a thicker forward armor bulkhead, but — just like Iowa — it can still be reliably penetrated by Yamato’s 18.1-inch shells.
Missouri’s other significant difference from Iowa is her status as a Tier IX premium ship. Besides her income advantage, Missouri is a very effective American commander trainer due to her high exp earnings. Unfortunately Missouri is very difficult to obtain, only being available during limited-time events or if the player is lucky to draw her in a Santa container.
Pros:
- Improved forward bulkhead protection over Iowa.
- Shares many of the same strengths as her sister ship Iowa, including:
- High base top speed of 33.0kts
- Powerful and accurate 16"/50mm guns
- Excellent AA by T9 BB standards
- Has access to the Surveillance Radar consumable, active for 35 seconds with a 9.5 km range.
- Long lasting immunity period in her Damage Control Party
- Low surface detection, achieving 12.7km surface detection with the proper build
Cons:
- Shares many of the same weaknesses as Iowa, including:
- Poor armor protection, including a vulnerable citadel
- Weak torpedo belt protection
- Unable to mount either Spotting Aircraft or Catapult Fighter
- Lacks the enhanced Repair Party of Iowa. Missouri only heals the standard 0.5% per second or 14% total per charge, compared to 0.66% per second or 18.48% total per charge for Iowa.
- Poor maneuverability, having the largest turning radius and second-worst rudder shift time among Tier IX BBs

Upgrades
The recommended upgrades for Missouri are as follows:
- Slot 1: This slot is most commonly filled with Main Armaments Modification 1 , though Auxiliary Armaments Modification 1 is a popular pick for captains who go for a full AA build with other upgrades and commander skills.
- Slot 2: Damage Control System Modification 1 OR Surveillance Radar Modification 1 . Damage Control System Modification 1 is the general go-to upgrade for most BBs and Missouri is no exception. Alternatively, Surveillance Radar Modification 1 extends her radar duration by ~7-8s, giving her more time to aim her second salvo or her allies to get their shots in.
- Slot 3: Main Battery Modification 2 is the recommended choice as it improves Missouri 's relatively slow turning turrets.
- Slot 4: Steering Gears Modification 1 is recommended and will reduce rudder shift time. Captains with fire problems could also consider Damage Control System Modification 2 , reducing the amount of time on fire and conserving hit points.
- Slot 5: With the Concealment Expert commander skill, Concealment System Modification 1 , and appropriate camouflage, Missouri can reduce her surface detection to 12.7km, on par with many cruisers.
- Slot 6: The recommended choice is Artillery Plotting Room Modification 2 as it will make Missouri one of the most accurate BBs at her tier. Alternatively Main Battery Modification 3 will reduce her reload by ~3 seconds, and can allow her to squeeze in a critical second shot in some tight situations.
Commander Skills
Like the US tech tree BBs, it is recommended for Missouri to build for full survivability. This maximizes her chance of surviving into the late game where she can put her radar and accurate guns to good use. Missouri captains should take the following core skills for her first 10 points:
- Preventative Maintenance OR Gun Feeder
- Grease the Gears
- Adrenaline Rush
- Concealment Expert
After taking her core skills, players should take Fire Prevention next to reduce damage taken by fires. Emergency Repair Expert to improve her heals; the extra heal improves her late-game potential. Finally, Basics of Survivability is useful for further reducing fire damage while also reducing flood damage.
Consumables
Missouri equips the following consumables:
- Slot 1: Damage Control Party
- Slot 2: Repair Party
- Slot 3: Surveillance Radar
The major difference between Missouri and Iowa are found in their consumables: Missouri trades her plane based consumables for access to a 9.5km 35s Surveillance Radar . Very few battleships can mount radar. In addition, Missouri only carries the standard version of Repair Party unlike the improved version found with the US tech tree BBs.
Camouflage
As a premium ship, Missouri comes with Default permanent camouflage and a set of permanent combat bonuses.
Signals
Missouri’s signal loadout should focus on maximizing her survivability. India Delta (), India Yankee (), and Juliet Yankee Bissotwo () will help with this. Sierra Mike () is worthy of consideration for captains who enjoy flexing Missouri’s 33+ knot speed, while November Foxtrot () and November Echo Setteseven () will help reduce her consumable cooldowns and further enhance her AA suite.

- Update 0.5.15.1:
- Added to the tech tree for 750,000 Free Experience.
- Update 0.6.0:

Therefore, there was a slight redistribution of HP: part of the HP was moved evenly from fore and aft ends and superstructures to the central part of the ship's casemates.
- Update 0.6.12:
- Detectability when firing main guns in smoke changed to 15.64 km.
- Update 0.6.13:
- The survivability of air defense weapons was tested and brought to a single standard. The change affects 40mm guns.
- Update 0.6.15:

- Update 0.7.6:
- Minor fixes to geometry and textures
- Update 0.8.1.1:
- The range of the Surveillance Radar consumable was corrected to be 9.5 km instead of 10 km. The correct value of 9.5 km was noted in the article and erroneously increased in Update 0.8.1.
- Update 0.9.6:
- The turning circle radius displayed in port was changed from 920 m to 990 m to match the in-game parameter.
- Update 0.10.0:
- The firing range of the secondary battery was increased to 6.95 km.

- The ship returned to the premium shop as part of the "Pacific War" event, in a variant that now earns the standard amount of credits per battle for a Tier IX premium ship.
- For players who owned the ship before this update, a permanent combat mission was added that gives +30% credits for every battle in the ship.
- Update 0.10.9:
- Fixed an error that occasionally caused the main battery shell ballistics to be calculated incorrectly (much higher trajectory).
- Update 0.11.6:
- The combat mission for +30% credits was removed. Instead, owners received an improved permanent Credit bonus of +40% instead of the default +10%.
