Nassau — German Tier III battleship.

The lead ship in the first series of dreadnoughts of the Imperial German Navy. This battleship was notable for reliable armor, good torpedo protection, and a powerful secondary battery. She carried 283 mm guns that were not inferior in many aspects to larger-caliber gun systems adopted by other navies of the world.

Player Opinion

Performance

Nassau is the first ship in the German battleship line. She is similar to Kawachi in turret layout, but has smaller, faster-firing guns. Despite having the smallest caliber guns at Tier III, Nassau can still inflict good damage with this faster rate of fire.

The accuracy on this ship, on the other hand, is noted by players as "hilarious" and very much like Kawachi. Most of the fired shots will tend to miss the target.

Her secondary guns are beyond excellent for its tier, and can provide good protection against enemy destroyers who attempt to get close to the Nassau.

One must be aware also, that this ship has very poor detection range. Most ships you will encounter can shoot at you even before you see them.

Pros:

  • Faster reload time than any other Tier III battleship.
  • Very tough armor that's hard to citadel, and the bow has enough armor to deflect most shells from other battleships.
  • Long-range and high damage secondary guns melt light-armoured ships.
  • Can point six guns fully forward and all her batteries have excellent shooting angles that allow angling and shooting.

Cons:

  • While it has a 1.8 sigma, it still has terrible dispersion and misses a lot.
  • Vulnerable to fires.
  • Low top speed, though still faster than American counterpart South Carolina.
  • Poor AA protection, though it's unlikely she'll encounter enemy carriers.
  • Poor main gun range, though better than Kawachi.
  • Repair Party (While active, restores a fixed percentage of a ship's hit points each second.) consumable has only two (2) charges instead of the usual three (3).
  • The main guns have low penetration, damage, fire chance, and overall damage output.

Optimal Configuration

Upgrades

The recommended upgrades for Nassau are as follows:

Commander Skills

Consumables

Nassau can equip the following consumables:

Camouflage

Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 2 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.

Nassau also has a permanent camouflage called "Jackal", in which she appears during the Halloween scenarios "Saving Translyvania" and "Sunray in the Darkness".
