 +===Historical Inaccuracies===
+* ''New Mexico'' is depicted in modernized condition. As a result her original 1918 configuration is missing.
+''New Mexico'''s current anti-aircraft defense is heavily downgraded from her historical version:
+* Currently missing are four 3-inch (76mm)/50 AA guns and 8-10 12.7mm Browning MGs which ''New Mexico'' received in mid-1941. This necessitated the removal of two 127mm secondary guns.
+* Also missing are four quadruple 1.1-inch (28mm)/75 AA guns which ''New Mexico'' received in a January 1942 refit. In exchange, the four 3-inch AA guns and a few 12.7mm Brownings were removed.
+* In November 1942, ''New Mexico'' received two quadruple 40mm Bofors and six 20mm Oerlikons in single mounts. In exchange, four 127mm secondary guns, four 12.7mm Brownings and an aircraft catapult were removed. These changes were also applied to her sister ship ''Mississippi''.
+* By January 1946, her AA consisted of six 127mm secondary guns, eight 127mm dual-purpose guns, ten quadruple 40mm Bofors, two twin 40mm Bofors and 43 20mm Oerlikons.

New Mexico — American Tier VI battleship.

The ship closely resembles the Pennsylvania class but incorporates several enhancements, including a redesigned aft end, new 50-caliber main guns in individual slides, and an experimental turbo-electric propulsion plant. Upon her entry into service, USS New Mexico joined the Atlantic Fleet, and after the end of World War I, she was transferred to the Pacific Ocean. During World War II, the battleship escorted convoys in the Pacific Ocean; took part in the Aleutian Islands campaign; and provided cover for assault landings on the Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, and Okinawa, as well as in the Philippines.

Player Opinion

Performance

New Mexico is the very definition of the "US Standard Battleship" type. Slow and heavily armored, New Mexico has the advantage of possessing twelve rifles for her main battery - a feature only matched by Fuso until Tier X. New Mexico is exceedingly proficient at short range combat, but requires foresight and planning because of her slow speed. Players are well advised to be careful when positioning themselves as New Mexico can easily be caught overextended.

Pros:

  • Twelve main battery guns.
  • Excellent shell velocity.
  • Very thick belt armor.
  • Good HE performance.
  • Superb main battery firing angles.
  • Exceptional torpedo protection.
  • Excellent anti-aircraft protection for Tier VI.
  • Excellent maneuverability.

Cons:

  • Poor turret traverse.
  • Poor main battery accuracy.
  • Weak secondary armament.
  • Very poor speed.
  • Large superstructure.
  • Worst battleship main battery range at Tier VI.

Research

Players should consider the hull upgrade as the first priority for research. Not only does this increase the survivability of New Mexico and her maneuverability, her anti-aircraft complement is dramatically improved. The fire control upgrade is an excellent choice for the second upgrade because New Mexico has terrible range as a stock ship. As she is already quite slow, the engine upgrade will provide the least utility.

Optimal Configuration

Upgrades

Slot 1 is most commonly filled with Main Armaments Modification 1 -20% to the risk of main battery becoming incapacitated. / +50% to main battery survivability. / -20% to main battery repair time. / -20% to the risk of torpedo tubes becoming incapacitated. / +50% to torpedo tubes survivability. / -20% to torpedo tubes repair time., though Auxiliary Armaments Modification 1 : +100% survivability to each. is a popular pick for captains who go for a full AA build with other upgrades and commander skills.

Slot 2 has one choice for battleships - Damage Control System Modification 1: -5% to the risk of fire. / -3% to the risk of flooding when torpedoes hit the torpedo protection.. This will reduce chances of fire and flood.

Slot 3 offers several options. AA Guns Modification 2 (OBSOLETE Replaced by Auxiliary Armaments Modification 2.) will boost maximum AA range, while Secondary Battery Modification 1 (: +20% secondary battery firing range. / -20% secondary battery dispersion.) will boost the range and accuracy of secondaries instead. Artillery Plotting Room Modification 1 Extends the firing range of the main battery and secondary battery: +16% main battery firing range. / +5% secondary battery firing range. / -5% secondary battery dispersion. will increase range and give secondaries a slight boost in range and accuracy, but may be a weaker choice than the other two.

Slot 4 Steering Gears Modification 2 : -40% rudder shift time. / -80% repair time. is recommended and will reduce rudder shift time. Captains with fire problems could also consider Damage Control System Modification 2 : -15% flooding recovery time. / -15% fire duration., reducing the amount of time on fire and conserving hit points.

Commander Skills

Because US battleships tend to have excellent anti-aircraft suites and poor secondary batteries, captain skills which increase the defensive abilities of the ship are recommended.

Consumables

Players should consider using premium consumables in the following order of priority: Damage Control Party, Repair Party, and Spotting Aircraft.

Camouflage

Type 1, 2, or 5 camouflage can be equipped for credits; Types 2 or 5 are recommended at a minimum to reduce the accuracy of incoming shells.

Players who wish to spend doubloons can equip New Mexico with Type 16 camouflage which reduces service costs, lowers her detection radius, reduces the accuracy of incoming shells, and increases the amount of experience she earns.

Alternatively, the 2018 New Year raid campaign provided captains with the Snowy camouflage with the same bonuses as the premium.

Signals

Economic signals are left to the discretion of the player. The following recommendations are for combat signals only.

Note: Use of the Juliet Charlie signal makes detonation impossible.
